Chapter 7: First flag end with a knight vow

Gilbert, 19 years old, has red hair and red eyes and a handsome face. He works as a guard in the village in order to defend it from bandits and monsters in the forest. He was originally a knight in duty but his career end due to his curse after fighting against a necromancer that uses forbidden magic. His mana was stopped by the necromancer and won't flow through his body two months ago.

[TWO MONTHS AGO]

After the curse has struck him, he got no choice but to move to a small village and became a guard

Upon his arrival in the village, he went to my restaurant and tried to eat there for the first time.

"Welcome! May I take your order, please",

"...",

I asked for his order but he was charmed by my beauty and was fall in love at first sight while holding the menu.

" Uh, sir do you need more time to read the menu?", I asked him again if he still needs more time to read the menu.

He then went back to reality and realized that all he did is only starting at my appearance.

"Huh, oh yeah! I would like to order this 'yakiniku' that was displayed on the menu",

He ordered after looking at the information on the menu that 'Yakiniku' means a barbeque cuisine or grilled meat.

As the food arrived on the table, his drool was falling like a waterfall. He then started to dig in and taste the grilled meat but his mouth started to melt by its delicacy after the first bite.

" This is actually pretty good, usually the meat is so hard to chew and taste so bland", he complimented with a surprised expression.

"Surely you jest, this food is considered normal in my hometown", I replied to his compliment.

" Your hometown eh, I've been an adventure ever since I was 12 years old and never in my adventuring days I taste delicious food like this",

"Oh, that is because my hometown is not in this kingdom!", I answered his suspicion with a lie but a true fact.

" Ah I see, no wonder I never tasted it before", he accepted my answer with full of trust in me. I feel a little guilty about my answer toward him afterward.

[THE NEXT DAY]

Gilbert became a regular customer in my restaurant and helps me gain more customer by guiding merchants and adventurers that were stopping in the village to seek shelter during their journey.

[A FEW DAYS LATER]

My restaurant fame then spread to the capital because of its delicacy and recipe. More and more people started to visit the village out of curiosity and later that we knew, the small village then turn into a town due to the restaurant's popularity and merchants began to set their shop in the town.

"Sasha! I know this is so sudden but actually, I have fallen in love with you in the first sight, will you be my girlfriend!",

" Sorry, but I have to decline your confession because of my personal problem",

"Is it really bad?",

" Yeah, I'm truly sorry",

Gilbert made a move on me by confessing his true feeling toward me. I was flustered at first and wanted to accept his confession but because of my long life span than any normal human, I have to decline him for his sake.

He looked like a sad puppy after being rejected by me. What other choice do I have to begin with? my condition right now is beyond any normal human being.

"Then I shall vow to serve and protect you and deal with your problem. After your problems have finally been dealt with, I will ask you to reconsider my confession in the future", he kneeled in front of me and said those words with a gentle tone.
