CHAPTER 12
The girl let go the hand she was holding while frowning. -This prince! Why can't he behave for once? How troublesome!
For her, this ride is boring as hell. Doing paper work is better than escorting this annoying prince. To alleviate the boringness, she diverts her gaze through the window, eyeing the trees slowly fading as the carriage moves.
Beams of sunlight shone through the mottled shade, tiny dust particles seemed illusory and unreal under the rays of the sun, adding touches of immortality in the vast forest. She watched the view outside the window without admiring it. Her gaze was filled with boredom, and she seems to be unmoved by the breathtaking view of the ancient forest.
Before people can visit the estate of Arcana they have to cross this wonderful place. It's beautiful but dangerous. Monsters roam this forest and sometimes blocked the path just so they could have a nice and satisfying meal. But nobody wants to visit her estate, so she doesn't have any problem dealing to this kind of accidents. People were afraid to see her, how much more cross this forest?
Her head was filled with that boy. The one who she accidentally raped and spent her night with. She had felt a faint light magic in that house. She couldn't confirm her suspicions yet because she was drunk that night. If possibly she wanted to go back there just to prove her hunch. But not now, she was stuck with this man for the mean time.
The girl rest her head on her hand lazily, making the ring noticeable for Amaranth. The ring was so tiny and thin, especially the gem, that it's almost invincible. Amaranth was shocked to see the ring he gave her a long time ago. He didn't expect to see it again, he thought Lily thrown it, but he was proven wrong. The ring adorns her finger nicely, and she puts it on her fourth finger. The thought of her wearing it on their wedding day made him blushed like a tomato.
Noticing his eccentric actions, Lily shifted her gaze to him, observing his every move and expression without the man's knowledge.
-His weird. She didn't have to ask, and she is not interested on his reasons. It's just he is too funny. -What is this man even thinking? He acts like a boy dreaming that he and his beloved woman had gotten married.
Realizing that Lily had been staring at him, he coughed and asked random questions. He was caught daydreaming, he hopes she didn't discover anything strange. "Your favorite color?"
"…" The girl removed her gaze on him, shifting it to the scene beyond the window, hinting she is not interested in answering his question.
"Ah? Oh!!!" Amaranth was embarrassed, and his face turned red. He tried looking through the window to distract his self from forming another shameful thoughts. But he can't, his eyes are fixed on her finger where the ring was placed.
The man can't hold his curiosity and finally asked the girl why she still wore it even though they are over. He wanted her mind to only think about him, no one else. The answer he got just made him more flustered. His face was so red and if she keeps on exposing his embarrassing secrets and thoughts, he is afraid he will burst.
"Cuz if I don't, you'll seduce me for good." Smokes are already coming out from his head and his hands are clenching his pants. He can't bear to look at her. He was so ashamed at himself.
"Also this can help me control my mood, as you know it sucks and accumulates energy to make me sane and more human." She showed him her fingers while moving them chronologically.
When Amaranth and she started to be lovers, he gave the ring as a present. It can control her strength and affects her mood in a good way. Well, her mood was not as bad as now, and in fact her attitude now was even more terrible than before. Her mood in the past was better, just a little, though.
And when he came to know she was cursed, he hurriedly asked the commander to embroider the ring with more divine power. Not only it improves her mood and controls her strength, it can also suck and gather light energy lingering in the air to make it more powerful in managing her dark side.
"Do you love Lexus?" Amaranth hesitated to ask this one. He is afraid if she was really falling to that man.
"He…" Lily opened her mouth to clear the misunderstanding between them. Just then, something loud interrupted her. She looks up, so did Amaranth.
-Monsters!!!-They both exclaimed in their minds.
"Stay here, Crown prince." Lily said, still looking above the carriage ceiling.
"What!? I'm not just a decoration, I'm also your General." He refused her order.
His face darkened while unsheathing his sword. Amaranth's personality changes fast. Lily didn't give much thought about it, as she was familiar with it.
"Duke Alyssum! There are monsters blocking the path!" shouts the couch man.
She walked out of the carriage and saw the monsters lined up. -Well. Well. I'll crush all of you to pieces. How dare you all delay our ride? She pressed her clenched fist, it was too strong that caused her knuckles to make a bone breaking sound, and she smiled while observing them.
"Knights forward!" the duke commanded the men dressed in armored lotus insignia to attack the monsters. Their movements are stealth and fast, making the blue cloth hanging on their backs waving in the air. Judging how they move, you may think they are assassins or mercenaries, but they are only knights. They have no magic powers, only pure strength. This squad was personally taught and trained by her. It only consists of 30 people, but their stamina and strength is no joke.
When she was about to join her personally trained knights, someone drapes her a coat. She turns around, realizing it was Amaranth. "Get inside the carriage, this won't take long." He assured her, at the same time, fastening the knot around her neck. Their position was kind of a bit awkward. Amaranth tied the knot behind her while she stands there with her hands on her side.
Her excitement turns to impassive. She eyed the man with a deadpan expression and spoke, "Fine! 1 minute is the longest!"
