Chapter 9_ Annoying Jerk

We moved forward and proceeded to the next class, there was a teacher in the front while the students all had an animal in front of them.

"You can channel your power into something else, you don't just limit your power to one ability you set your mind to vary it and watch how it bounce back. Take Halia here for example she has the power to read minds am I right?" the teacher that was in the class asked the students.

"Yes sir" they all chorused and replied.

Power to read minds? That was the same power as Mackenzie. I looked over at her and saw her face glinting with the pleasure of seeing one like her.

"Good, Halia focus on the cat in front of you and order it to stand on its two toes." the teacher told the optimistic senior in front of him.

She nodded and stared at the cat, after the second trial. Meow! The cat meowed and stood on it's toes!

We were all flabbergasted, our gaping jaws shook and some of us were covering our faces with our hands in awe while others clutched their chests with their hands.

They were indeed seniors! The potential gap between us was undeniable.

The seniors taking us on the orientation seemed indifferent.

"This is the third year class and they are currently taking the channeling class" Senior Oliver informed us and we moved forward to the 4th down to the 5th and 6th classes.

They led us to a hall that had various lockers subsisting on its wall.

"Here newbies is where the lockers are. This is a section for newcomers. You all get a locker each but you don't pick the lockers, they pick you." Senior Amanda told us.

How will the lockers pick us? It's not like they have a mind of their own. Thoughts of how weird it'd be weird to have a locker choose me as its owner and

how I'd run like a thief discovered and running for his life ran to my mind in quick succession

Imagine a locker say "Hey Medusa, I choose you as my owner" my heels would touch and float the ground at fast paces.

I was still playing with my thoughts and thinking silly when I felt a buzzing essence land on my palm.

I was not even aware I had opened my palm out.

I looked down my palm to see a key buzzing in my palm like the early morning alarm.

I opened my mouth in shock again, soon ! will die in this school and it will be a death caused by shock because what?

I could not count the number of times I had been shocked down to my wits in one single day.

"The number on the keys is the number to your lockers" Senior Amanda again, lectured us.

We strode towards the lockers tracing the numbers on them.

I found my locker number 36 was boldly written on it in numeric.

I opened it and excitement swarmed my face.

Things I needed for class like pens, books.

jotting books, a book titled understanding supernaturals down to swimsuits, swimming googles and so on were neatly

kept in the locker.

Whoever these people were, they were so thoughtful and had everything planned out for us.

The excitement on the other's faces showed they had received the same goodies.

"Now, to the library," Senior Oliver said and we followed him and Senior Amanda's lead to the library.

The library was the biggest I've set my eyes on ever since I was old enough to save up memories in my head.

I kept repeating it, everything I had been witnessing here was like things I only saw in movies.

The person that said movies were a fragment of reality wasn't wrong.

We sightsaw and strolled around the libraryLet's come back here after the orientation to check out books that can help Mackenzie " Mia told us.

I thought that was a great idea.

Seniors were in the library drowned so engrossed in their books.

My eyes traveled out in exploration until it settled on a figure sitting alone at a table in the library quietly reading a book.

I recognized him instantly, he was the annoying senior that came with the other lady to bring me here.

The I'll mannered jerk that tossed me in the portal like a little girl. I can remember that face anywhere and could spot him wherever I saw him.

His gloomy demeanor was barely hard to miss.

As if sensing I was staring he looked up and our eyes interlocked.

He looked back down immediately like he didn't see me or maybe I wasn't worth his stare or attention.

Did the annoying jerk just ignore me?

I was unused to being ignored by men, men stare all the whole time at me. I mean, I wasn't bad.

I felt like hitting him hard on the head but cautioned myself. I cannot do that, he was a senior with powers and I was just a newbie with no power.

Hitting him would birth dire consequences and I would be punished for it. By the school, him and probably other students who liked him.

Wait! What if I punched him and someone asked me why I did what would I say?

That he saw me and acted like I wasn't worth being looked at?

Or that he didn't give me attention at all?

Why would I want his attention at all? I do not want the attention of jerks. I also looked away almost immediately he ignored me and acted nonchalant while walking away.

We finished the orientation and decided to go get something good to eat.

We strolled to the dinning area where we ate before and went to the newbies section. We scribble down our names on the magical papers and soon got our orders.

We ate the delicious and well cooked food to our hearts fill. The chefs must have added some magical potions to the food, I decided.

No one cooks like that, the seasoning, the cooking level, the manner in which the grain had been cooked was with great expertise and everything was perfect.

Eating in the dinning area will be one of the memories I'd cherish in the school and something I'll miss after I was gone.

We soon finished our foods and set out to go back to the library when I saw the annoying jerk walking towards the dinning area's entrance.

So jerks eat too!

Who doesn't eat? Maybe ghosts though.

I ignored him, it's not like I can speak to him, he was a stranger I just had some minutes of encounters with him.

We went back to the library and strolled in with confidence.

We picked up some books amidst the pile of books and went to the counter to submit and register them before reading.

The lady at the counter checked our books and frowned at them "I'm sorry, these books are only available to second year students upward "she apologized with a frown.

"What's wrong with us taking them?" I blurted with a with discord.

"It's just few harmless books!" Mackenzie exclaimed, she was looking forward to the books.

Not being grant access to the books mightmake her loose her cool finally as she had been on the brink of loosing her mind for a while now.

She had only managed to stay composed thanks to me and Mia.

Was everything here about superiority? I wondered.

Why the restriction on books again.

The lady shrugged " It's just the rules" she replied. "The contents of the book is believed to be only useful to trained students. The school does not want newbies to waste time on information that

would not benefit them instead you are urged to go take books from the newbies section over there" she explained further while pointing to another section of the library.

How did she know we were newbies anyway?

Was it that obvious we were new?

I wanted to start an hot argument when...

"Let them have the books Cas "I heard someone join our conversation from behind.

Me and the girls turned to look at the onewho just did us a favor and behold!

Walking towards us was the annoying jerk.

He was the one that informed the librarian to allow us take the books!

Why?

I thought he was acting all superior like he didn't see me, guess I was wrong.

I knew I was too beautiful to be ignored by no man.

The librarian looked up at him and smiled.

"Senior Katz" she addressed him while her cheeks flush.

The girls were also looking at him with faces that were awestruck.

There was nothing special about the young man, he was a jerk! I wanted to shout.
