"I do not have much to say to you, Miss. Clarke, the school will watch you close to make sure you are not who Ajax thought you are. And if you are, necessary steps will be taken" the dean confused me even more with his words.
The dean had a way of confusing confused people even more. He would say he was explaining to you but in the end all he would be doing was to confuse you more than you have been.
He was not shedding light nor answering my unanswered questions.
"Is..my father.alive?" I stammerred.
The dean nodded "He is, if he is truly your father. I am confused right now because I do not know Kellan had a child. He was not supposed to have a child."
My father was not supposed to have a child.
His name was Kellan?
"Why?" I voiced my question.
"It may disrupt the balance, he is not from this dimension. He ran here when there was a crisis in their dimension. We took him to our school and he proved to be a very good asset. Later came Ajax, also from the same dimension as him and he was a good friend of your father. Unfortunately, Ajax had other evil plans about the other dimension." he
looked at me.
"The dimension you came from, where your parents are. He wanted to make that dimension a whole new thing according to him. His plan was to clear off people who didn't posses any power. He thought people who does not have powers didn't
deserve to live".
"what?" I couldn't help but gasp in amazement.
"Your father was against his plans and teamed up with the school to stop him. We were successful in eliminating him but I never knew his spirit still roams the school"
"But he said he was after me to get his revenge against my father but later discovered I was the last ingredient he needed for his theory "I explained to the dean.
The dean had a shocked expression on his
face "He did?"
"Yes"
He touched his beards and stared at empty space "I guess he has other plans off his sleeve. You can leave that to the adults to worry about, you focus on your studies and learn to get familiar with your powers when you have them" he chastised me.
"I am scared he may be back to hurt me again. I mean Ajax" I was truly afraid.
" He will not, at least not now. By the time he would be back, we will be ready for him" he assured me.
"One last question sir" I had so many questions I wanted to ask.
"What is it?"
"If he was a spirit, isn't that a ghost. How was he able to touch and hold me like living being"
"Again, leave that to the adults to worry about" the dean said impatiently " Now call your friends in"
I obeyed and went to meet the Mackenzie and Mia whom were seated outside.
They looked up when they saw me.
"He wants you guys"I said shortly. We entered the Dean's office together and he addressed us.
" Now you three will face the penalty for breaking school rules and sneaking out late at night which put your lives at risk"
We looked down at our fingers as he scolded us.
"After classes, you three will go join the kitchen workers in washing the plates and taking care of the kitchen then you go clean the classes building's toilet."
What?
Why so much punishment for just one night of sneaking out.
When we thought he was done "You go to the library to assist the librarian too" he added.
We widened our eyes at him.
I looked at him with a puppy eyes maybe he would pity and reduce the punishment.
"You can leave my office now" he sent us away.
We turned our backs to leave.
"Your punishment starts today and ends after a week" he said behind us.
We groaned and walked away back to class.
All the dean cared about was to leave the worry to the adults. When I become an adult, I would go back to him and demand possible answers. It was only a matter of days, not even up to a month anymore
"What did you and the dean talk about ? Mackenzie asked as we walked back.
"A lot" I replied.
"Getting curious" Mia chided in.
"We'll talk about it when we get to our room" I replied.
I had a lot on my mind right now.
The greatest of them all was my father.
Who was he?
What powers does he have? Did I inherit his powers from him?
How did he meet my mother and gave birth to me when he was not supposed to have a child in the other dimension?
Which dimension did he come from?
I had all those thoughts running through my mind as I walked with the girls to class.
When we got to the class we could not go in.
At first it was the quiet class that arouse our suspicion.
Was a teacher in class?
We peeped the window and saw teacher Hadleigh addressing the class. We were uncertain on wether to go in because we did not know what her reaction could be.
"Let's go in" Mackenzie whispered to us.
Mia whispered back to her using her hand to cover her mouth " I feel this teacher is kind of strict so l don't know"
"Let's just stand here and listen to her lectures "I settled the negotiation and they both decided to take my option.
I do not know why I feel like I bring the most stupid opinions but the girls always liked to listen to me anyway.
We stood and continued peeping from the window.
"I see you have grouped yourself and already decided where to sit and where your friends are sitting" Teacher Hadleigh was saying. She was Dressed in her usual formal attire which had a touch of gorgeousness and confidence.
She was a type of woman her like. Her dressing sense and confidence was something I admire.
"All of you get up" she commanded the class.
We were suddenly grateful we were not part of those that were inside the class. The students in the class stood up and teacher Hadleigh motioned to them.
"Come outside you all, stand in a line according to your heights", she commanded
She did not seem to know more than lines.
They all formed a line according to her orders.
"What are they doing?" Mackenzie leaned in
on me trying to see the view well.
Her weight was on me and making me unbalanced "Stop pushing! " I scolded.
"Shhh" Mia cautioned us while pointing at the teacher whose attention we have drawn.
Teacher Hadleigh looked at the window and we dodged her eyes
"I think she saw us" I whispered.
"Bend down" Mackenzie advised and we did bend down immediately but it was too late.
We heard the teacher's footsteps approaching, her heels making loud click-clack sounds.
.
When we stopped hearing the sounds, we looked up and..
"Ahh!" We shouted.
Teacher Hadleigh had her face down the window looking at us.
"What are you doing" She enquired, her forehead getting lined with thick horizontal lines. We stood up sluggishly drawing the hem of each other's clothes.
Or maybe it was only I that was drawing the others clothes.
"Stop it!" Mia said to me.
The teacher mistook it for Mia responding to her question. "pardon?" She frowned.
"No..I wasn't.." she stammered and the teacher cut her off.
"What are you doing?" Teacher Hadleigh repeated her question, more sternly this time.
"We did not want to disturb the class" I chipped in, my eyes darting around, settling on other things around except her.
"You mean you're avoiding classes?"
"No ma, we were just coming back from the dean's office and the class was already going on" Mackenzie explained.
"So you decided to stay back?"
"Yes ma" we chorused.
She removed her head that was stuck in the window. "Come into the class" she ordered us.
Our breaths could probably be heard by all in the class as we thought we have landed ourselves in another trouble.
We reluctantly strode into the class, the students whom were now lined up stared at us as we walked in.
"Join the others, line up according to your heights. The tall ones at the back, the short ones at the front"
She was not taking actions against us?!
.
We adhered to her instructions.
She directed the people in the front to the front rows and the others according to their heights to a seat accordingly.
The short ones were all at the front while those that were a little bit taller than the shorter ones were at the next rows that followed.
I was at the seats close to the back seats where the average heights ones sat.
Mia was close to the front seats while Mackenzie was at the back seat. I sat beside one of the triple-D rangers, Dixie and one other boy.
Teacher Hadliegh stood at the front and addressed the class.
"I will be taking you magical ethics. Ethics are conduct guarding, defending and recommending the concept of right and wrong behavior" she pocketed her hands and walked towards the entrance of the class, her well-structured hips bouncing.
"Magical ethics are simply the principles that guide our journey throughout the journey of our powers. They are the personal rules we have that shapes the decision we make as powerful people with abilities. They are the rules we lay down for ourselves that cue every decision we take."
Since the issue with teacher Lazlo, we have been paying close attention to every teacher that came to take us.
"Tchh, such a boring class" Dixie hissed and slumped her head on the desk.
I looked at her cynically, an unserious fellow. What she and her crew liked to do was boast and goof around.
And they said they were triple D rangers who were proud of their powers.
" As an individual, you need to have your principles. Your dos and don'ts. You also need to have magical ethics that refrain you from allowing your powers get to you and allowing you go against moral ethics" Teacher Hadleigh continued to lecture us.
I guess Ajax lost his magical ethics or didn't
have one at all.
I'll start to create a magical ethic for myself. I do not want my powers to make me hurt others.
"Imagine a situation where a mundane hurts your family or friend. Or maybe a thief stole a person's purse and still beats them brutally. You witnessed that incident and went after the thief and you caught him. Because you felt offended would you
punish the person or hand them to the cops?"
