Pulling the robber off the ground by the collar, Rynold stared intently into the guy's covered face.
"First of all," Rynold could hear the robber's lips slightly trembling from underneath his hood, "Why the hell do you idiots think that doing this would be a good idea?"
As he finished the sentence, Rynold slammed his right fist straight into the robber's face, making him topple back onto the ground.
"Second," Rynold grabbed the other robber by the collar, "Dishonesty and robbing people aside... If you're prepared to kill someone just for a few coins. Then, be prepared to be killed too."
Once again, Rynold slammed his gauntlet straight onto the robber's cheek, forcing him onto the ground as well.
"Third." This time, Rynold extended his Mana Gauntlets into Strength-form, making him seem a lot more terrifying to the robbers, "Actually know who the fuck you're trying to rob."
"Honestly," Rynold sighed as he stared at the three robbers who were on the ground, unmoving, "I know I haven't been the new Lord for long, but robbing me in broad daylight? Man, you guys are either brave or extremely stupid."
"Stooooppp!!"
Just when Rynold was about to serve a whole batch of whooping, somebody stopped him. With much vigor, no less.
Rynold looked to the entrance from whence he came and saw an elf girl walking towards him. He noticed that the elf looked familiar. Unfortunately, he just couldn't figure out who she was.
Regardless, as the elf walked towards him with an angry march, Rynold wondered what she wanted. After all, stopping him just as when he was about to commit a one-sided beating, she must've had a good reason.
The elf walked with both grace and confidence. It was a weird combination, Rynold thought, as the elf steadily approached him with her hand on her weapon.
As soon as the elf was a step and a half away from Rynold, she drew her sword in a wide arc, and point it directly at Rynold's neck.
"Why are you harassing these poor, old men?" the elf lady asked Rynold with a surprising amount of accusation.
Rynold raised an eyebrow as the very tip of the sword was pressing against his neck.
"Okay, I think you're misreading the situation here," Rynold said as he inched back, giving himself some room to breathe. "These idiots were the ones who jumped me, trying to rob me of everything I had. You honestly think I go out and beat the living daylight out of hooligans for fun?"
With a deep sigh, Rynold grabbed the tip of the weapon with his Mana Gauntlets in Strength-form. He looked at the weapon in his hands and looked back at the elf girl that was holding it.
"A rapier, huh?" Rynold noted as he looked at the craftsmanship of the weapon.
"E-excuse me! Are you trying to say that you had nothing to do with how beat up these men are?!" the elf girl tried to pull her weapon back, but Rynold's grip on it was too firm. "As an officer of the Rogue Elves Division, I am tasked with the job of patrolling these streets! Which includes its citizens!"
Rynold let go of the weapon and sighed. Obviously frustrated, he didn't want to deal with a snot-nosed brat who had an extremely general sense of justice.
He returned his Mana Gauntlets back to its Speed-form to raise his hand, and massage the temple of his nose. If that didn't show how frustrated Rynold was, then there isn't much else he could do.
Rynold thought back and tried to figure out how to get out of this situation. As much as he wanted to run away, he had to at least bring the three idiots to some jail or something. If they even have those things.
"I've had enough of this," Rynold said with a good amount of frustration and annoyance in his words. "If you are an officer of the Rogue Elves Division, the least you could do is to lock these idiots up. And, as the Lord of the Tree of In-Between, can you just leave me alone?"
Letting go of the weapon, Rynold looked at the young elf girl as she tried to understand what Rynold had just said. He could even see her mouth the words "new Lord" as Rynold stared at her, trying to figure out where he had seen her before.
"Would that be all?" Rynold asked as the elf was still dumbfounded, "I gotta go meet with some friends... HOLY SHIT!" he suddenly yelled, much to the young elf girl's surprise.
"You're the one who puked all over me the night before the attack 8 months ago!! That's why you look so familiar," Rynold couldn't believe his eyes. Well, it was more like he couldn't believe that the same girl was standing before him now.
The young elf girl was still completely dumbfounded to find that the man standing before him recognized her.
Even though she had one of the worst hangovers the next day of that night, she could still distinctly remember that she had vomited all over a pair of boots. It was entirely vivid for that one moment. Well, she remembered the boots, not so much on the person wearing them.
Still, Rynold was surprised to find out that she was the one who did it. Which, inevitably, made his impression of the young elf girl fall farther.
"Okay, okay," Rynold had had enough of waiting for the elf girl to recover. "If you aren't going to say anything, I'll take my leave." He walked away from the elf and the three robbers, muttering, "had enough of this shit," as he left.
As Rynold headed out of the alley without even glancing back, he instantly jumped towards a nearby ledge.
He hopped on the roof of the nearest building, making a vantage point with an extensive view of this part of the Residential District.
'Where are you...,' Rynold looked around, thinking that he would see the building the others were staying in. 'You know, it's about now that I wish they'd all stay at the penthouse with me.'
With a sigh, Rynold decided on a building that is reminiscent of an apartment complex. An apartment complex mixed with the design of an extravagant hotel, that is.
Knowing Neana, she wouldn't willingly cheap out on something like her accommodation. Especially if the Lord's estate was the one who was paying for all of this.
He jumped down without fear and started walking. As much as he just wanted to swing around the Residential District with his grappling hook, the property damage by the end of it would bother him.
Walking with a casual expression on his face, Rynold headed to the building. It wasn't interesting in the slightest, but getting there did need him to go through some twists and turns on the way there.
Soon, Rynold stood before the building. Admiring the architecture of whoever designed the place, he stood in silence for a few seconds before going in.
Upon entering, Rynold was greeted by a somewhat extravagant lobby. Just entering the place felt like he was in a very high-class environment.
"Hey," Rynold approached the front desk reception. "Are the other humans staying in this facility?"
It was swift, direct, and straight to the point. It properly reflected Rynold's personality, however, it didn't seem to come across great.
"Perhaps... May I know who is asking?" the elf who was manning the desk asked. It wasn't a guess to say that he was directly looking down at Rynold. Eyebrows raised and a somewhat poised, yet arrogant tone.
To Rynold, though, it practically meant nothing.
He could just as easily put the receptionist in his place by mentioning his title. But, naturally, it wasn't something he would be bothered to do. Doing that would be the very definition of petty.
"Rynold. There's really no point in talking to me. Just tell me where they are and I'll be on my way," he answered directly once more, thinking that the receptionist would appreciate it.
Too bad, the guy didn't. In fact, one could go as far as saying that the receptionist didn't want anything to do with Rynold.
"I see," the receptionist answered with significantly more arrogance than before if that were even possible. "Then, Sir Rynold, is it? Please wait over there and someone will be right with you."
"Thanks, appreciate it," Rynold said, nonchalantly.
He walked over to the nearby seat and sat down. Despite the lobby being amusingly quiet and nobody being there, Rynold still waited. He made it a point to be patient when it comes to service staff as he might not know if they are busy with something as well.
However, the receptionist made the grave mistake of whispering to another elf of the staff whilst looking at Rynold. It was, arguably, one of the shadiest things that one could do. Even more so than the robbers he met earlier.
'Does he really think I don't notice?' Rynold thought to himself as he pretended not to care.
