Chapter 1 - Variable

Manila, Philippines

A stormy night on going with flashes of lightning and thunder.

A middle-aged Fatty is in a state of boredom stood up from his chair and opened up the window. For some reason, he was mesmerized staring at the rain outside while thinking about his boring life. He was a chef in a restaurant but the business is not good nowadays. He goes to work everyday, eat, sleep like a robot programmed in cycle.

He doesn't even have a girlfriend yet. He was aware of the fact that he doesn't have a good face and physique which he regrets not taking care during his younger days, plus he was tired of chasing girls knowing full well it was all for nothing.

He remembered the time when he started to gamble in love again. He met this girl as a co-worker and got hooked by her beauty. He seized the opportunity and courted her, bringing her some food she likes to eat, buying her shoes on her birthday and Christmas, taking her out on a beach for vacation. Only to be fucked by her 'Best friend' guy.

That's fucked up, right? Despite what happened, he still loved her. He still care for her as friend and he keeps waiting.

The desire for her was not unanswered. The day he was waiting for happened. She and her 'best friend' guy broke up and thought it was finally his time. He courted her again everyday doing the same romantic shit just to get her to say yes becoming his girlfriend. He believes that love is patient so he decided to persevere.

One time when he went back from a business trip, he was shocked to know that the girl was in a relationship with another guy and this time, she was pregnant. He was so heartbroken and something within him died that day.

That was the final straw that broke the camel's back. He resigned in his work for the sake of not seeing her again and started a small restaurant. Since then, he doesn't believe in love anymore and treat it scientifically what they call dopahmine acting up which makes it feel good temporarily. He decided it was time to stop since he gave his all but got nothing. He realized that girls these days are far more materialistic and superficial. They prioritize more on physical attractiveness than personality.

He sighed in reverie.

Because of what happened, he focus his attention on indulging himself. He bought a high end computer with dual screen monitor and started his hobby playing MMORPGs. He became a fan of anime and movies as well as reading isekai novels in the internet. In short, he became an Otaku.

He woke up getting lost in his thoughts when he remembered that there's a new update coming on the game he was playing.

He went back inside and fired up his computer. He opened the game and clicked on the update button for a new patch.

"Damn, it looks like a big file. They must have added a new map for this kind of patch to take this long. " He murmured.

Since it's taking like forever, he decided to rewatch a movie on his archive while waiting. It was an archive of movies and animes' he downloaded from the internet and he already watched all of it.

He's watching it again just to pass the boredom while waiting for the long damn game patch.

But he's having trouble deciding which one. He trusted his gut with a deep breath he finally decided to select Avengers. However, the moment he clicked the play button, he was blinded by a flash of light followed by thunderous roar and his vision went blank.

'Damn it, I forgot to close the window'

On particular universe, several powerful beings felt something changed.

In a golden palace, an old man sitting on his throne is resting. He has an eye patch but suddenly opened his eyes or rather his other eye and furrowed his brows in confusion.

"Hmmm, some things has changed.."

At the same time on earth, there was bald woman enjoying her tea when she suddenly stopped. She looked at the distance and furrowed her brows.

"An unpredictable change" She sighed.

She tried to use the medallion on her chest that glowed green and after a while she opened her eyes.

"This is troublesome, some parts of future has changed. Those that has changed are covered in thick mist and I can't it's future. "

In a certain castle on the edge of the universe, a dark skinned man was seating lazily on his chair. He suddenly sat upright as he felt the change in the timeline.

He furrowed his a brows as crossed his fingers while thinking.

"A variable has appeared, interesting". He smiled suddenly looking into the void.
