It's coming soon

The glow in Lui Feng's eyes appeared calm but one could easily tell it was a facade but Ying Yue failed to notice it due to the fact that she was lost in her thoughts. Her face turned pale when she remembered that incident that took place last night, noticing this Lui Feng took hold of her hands.

"What's wrong?" He asked in the sweetest voice he could muster. He was a bit desperate to find out what happened last night, what she had seen. He couldn't find out anything because of the mind barrier Lui Shui put up.

Lui Shui had pure talent when it came to the mental aspect, even he couldn't beat him there, although he might have a chance if he unlocked his powers as Alpha.

He was lost in his thoughts when he felt her hands trembling, he looked at her as she was trying to hold back her tears. He gripped her hand tightly trying to assure her that she was safe.

"I saw a lady, she looked exactly like me except she was dressed like a princess her face was gentle but distraught. She said something to me..." She said her brows furrowed trying to remember what this woman said, she looked at Lui Feng who was paying close attention to what she was saying.

"She told me to get ready that a tough battle was coming but what shocked me the most was that, she said that we needed to get stronger. Like we were the same person and for some reason I felt an instant connection with her", said Ying Yue and she looked back at Lui Feng who was once more lost in his thoughts. She hoped he didn't think she was crazy or something, how did he even find her here? She tugged at his shirt trying to get his attention.

"What are you thinking about?" All her fear had disappeared because of how cute Lui Feng looked when he was thinking hard.

'How could someone look so cute?' she thought a smile finally appearing on her face. He was still immersed in his thoughts though.

"Lui Feng, I had the worst nightmare but it felt so real a man was taunting me and he wanted to harm me. I don't know how but I got him out of my mind I guess, then I woke up here and I saw you", she said but Lui Feng still looked lost, if only she knew all his thoughts were centered on her.

"He kind of looked like you right here", she said then tapped his nose cutely. Lui Feng finally coming back to his senses paled at her words.

How in the world was she able to get Lui Shui out of her mind? Even he couldn't do that he just ignored him every now and then.

Besides Lui Shui didn't have any power over him, he sighed inwardly he knew of Lady Li Jing's gift to see the future but she had a weak mental capability. Then again Ying Yue wasn't Li Jing but her reincarnation, he pinched the bridge of his brows and got up.

"Don't leave this house today", he said in that undecipherable tone he almost always used, but he saw her frown at his words.

"But I have work to do", she said getting up and folding her arms. "I can't stay at your house", Ying Yue firmly like he was going to listen to her if she used that tone of voice. He started making his way towards the door and then stopped at the doorway.

"Just work from home then, there's a new laptop on the bedside table and you can find your phone in the drawer. The Wi-Fi password is also in the drawer with your phone, a maid will come every hour and you can get anything you need, but You. Aren't. Leaving. This. Room", then he left and locked the door on his way out. He knew she wouldn't understand the severity of the situation but he had to keep her safe.

After several failed attempts in trying to open the door, Ying Yue decided to work from home. She contacted the furnishings department and her assistant to find out how things were going and it turned out they were going smoothly Yu Yan even promised to drop by and check on how things were going.

But the fact remained she didn't have anything to do and she was going to be bored all day. She decided to check out the room. No, not snoop through his things but check out the room.

She never really took the time to appreciate how big the room was and the intricate designs on the wall, she was in awe. She first went to the bathroom, she had only been in here once and she rushed out. She looked at the marble walls and the ton of towels he had.

'Who kept this many towels? With this amount of towels someone had to be living with him', she thought and for some reason, she felt a pang of pain in her heart. She saw a new toothbrush that hadn't been opened. 'Did he buy this because of her?' The thought of it made her happy.

She went to his closet next and all his clothes had his scent, she couldn't quite figure out his scent he smelled like the earth with a touch of nature but there was this finishing touch in his scent she just couldn't figure out.

She had been looking through his wardrobe when she saw a small golden box, the head of a wolf had been intricately carved on it. Her head told her not to touch it but she was so drawn to it, she took the box and opened it, she saw a pendant inside, she was sure an artwork like this would be worth millions of dollars.

She thought of wearing it and immediately shook off the thought, but when she glanced at it once more she decided to try it on, she knew not to touch others things but there was just something about this pendant, something so special and alluring.

She wore the pendant and went to the mirror in the room, it was so beautiful. She wanted to take it off when she suddenly felt tired and went to bed falling into a deep sleep.

Lui Feng had left the house with mixed feelings, he headed for the council office. His heartbeat became faster than normal on his way there, he was going to ask when the Red Moon was coming.

He had a feeling it was coming soon but the reason his heart was beating faster was because he knew he would have to separate from Ying Yue during this time. He wouldn't want to bring her into this cruel battle where only the fittest would survive, he hoped to shield her from it.

He got the the main hall where he saw all the council members seated like they were expecting him. All of them were dressed in white robes except one dressed in a black robe, they were seated on both sides of the long table with an identical drawing of the wolf, which was on the pendant.

There was a seat at the center of the table, which was for the current Alpha, then the man in the black robe got up to welcome him while they all bowed slightly in respect to him. What most people didn't know was that the council could make or break an Alpha.

"Alpha Lui Feng, what a pleasure to have you here today", said the man in the black robe, the only one in this corrupted world Lui Feng could trust apart from Aiguo, he was pretty young in his 900s, while everyone in the council was over a thousand some almost two thousand, but most wolves couldn't live that long every council member had a special gift that kept them alive that long.

"I'm here to find out when's the next Red Moon", he said straight to the point, he was in a hurry as needed to get home to look after Ying Yue.

"There are some signs of it coming soon, we're not sure when but it's close. If my guess is right it should be coming after the next full moon... that means in less than two months", replied the man in the black robe. Then he noticed, that the Alpha's face turned sour which surprised him because Lui Feng had been waiting impatiently for the Red Moon for two hundred years now.

Maybe he was unhappy with the series of battles he'd have to face after he was crowned but before he could understand what was going on Lui Feng stormed out of the building. It seems he wasn't happy about the news.

Lui Feng stood at the railing of the bridge near the council office, he had to tell her soon, sooner than he expected, and the fact that he didn't know the whereabouts of Lui Shui was a problem on its own. Protecting her from Lui Shui wasn't that hard, but what scared him the most was losing her, he had seen the fear in Li Jing's eyes when he showed her his true form but she still sacrificed herself for him.

He had never gone on a rampage as wild as the one of that day ever in his life, when he saw the blood on her body he lost all rationality.

Lui Feng walked back home trying to gather his thoughts. He got home and found her sound asleep. It was almost an hour since she wore the pendant, and when he noticed it on her he immediately took it off her. It was the pendant Li Jing made for him a week before she died, she was also gifted in art. Her paintings would often show the future but that was when something struck him. He looked at the pendant once more

"Li Jing please don't show anything to Ying Yue. I promise I'll talk to her before the Red Moon, I don't want to lose her...", he said, Li Jing made this pendant so that he could talk to her even in death. He never believed her and he felt too guilty to talk to her but now he did, he didn't understand why but it felt like he needed to.

Moments later took out his phone from his pocket and called Aiguo despite his troubled mind he sounded calm.

"Aiguo, I need the painting Ying Yue made for the art competition", he said and hung up immediately, focusing on the sleeping girl in front of him.
