Wang Yan observed Wanda's determined expression and nodded with satisfaction. Although he would never interfere with her decisions, letting a genius like her remain hidden was a pity. In a world where power meant survival, Wanda's decision to seek training was welcome.
"Excellent. You will not regret coming to Kamar-Taj. This is the right choice. From now on, you will study under Strange. With his guidance, you will grow even stronger," Wang Yan said. "Your innate power, combined with systematic training, will make you much more formidable."
Wanda nodded, relieved that Kamar-Taj accepted her so quickly. "Thank you, Master Wang Yan. I promise to study diligently."
Wang Yan sensed her genuine excitement and warned, "Remember, don't use your magic carelessly in Kamar-Taj."
Given Wanda's immense power, her uncontrolled magic could cause significant trouble. Even he struggled to control such power sometimes.
"Don't worry, Master Wang Yan. I won't," Wanda promised earnestly.
Wang Yan trusted her but knew the curiosity about one's power could be overwhelming. He glanced at Strange.
"I'll keep an eye on her," Strange assured.
"Good. Strange, show Wanda around and get her settled," Wang Yan instructed.
Strange nodded, "Yes, Master Wang Yan."
As Strange led Wanda away, Wang Yan returned to the library. Though he wasn't actively studying the Darkhold, he had learned much from it and occasionally referenced it. However, most of his focus was now on the Book of Vishanti.
Wanda soon settled into life at Kamar-Taj, training rigorously under Strange's tutelage. Her prior experience with chaos magic allowed her to excel quickly in her studies. She felt herself growing more capable and confident, edging closer to fully mastering her powers.
One day, as she learned a new spell from Strange, she felt her magic becoming uncontrollable.
"The Crimson Bands of Cyttorak can bind powerful beings, giving you a chance to subdue them," Strange explained.
Wanda listened intently, not wanting to miss any details. Strange was pleased with her progress; her learning speed was impressive.
"Good. Try casting the Crimson Bands. If you have any questions, ask," Strange encouraged.
Wanda stepped forward to cast the spell, but suddenly, her magic flared uncontrollably. Her chaos magic, usually under her control, now felt volatile.
"Wanda, what's wrong?" Strange asked, noticing her distress.
"Strange, I can't control my magic. It's like it's reacting to something," Wanda replied, her face flushed as she struggled to maintain control.
Strange, puzzled by this sudden change, knew he had to act fast. "I'm taking you to Master Wang Yan!"
He tried to open a portal, but the golden sparks fizzled out. He quickly conjured the Rings of Raggadorr for protection, sensing a powerful energy nearby.
"Very perceptive," a voice said from the void. "I didn't expect such a sharp sorcerer on this insignificant planet."
Strange saw nothing but felt the growing power. Then, a figure emerged—an imposing man with blood-red eyes and white hair. Everything else seemed to vanish the moment he appeared, and Wanda's magic grew even more erratic.
"Who are you?" Strange demanded, standing protectively in front of Wanda.
The figure smirked, "I am Chthon, the God of Darkness."
Strange's eyes widened in shock. "Chthon… the one Gaia sealed away?"
Chthon's face darkened at the mention of Gaia. "Sorcerer, silence. I am the God of Darkness, the source of all dark magic. I know the secrets of the universe. I create and destroy at will."
Unimpressed by the self-praise, Strange stepped back, realizing he was outmatched. "Kneel before me," Chthon commanded, his words carrying immense pressure. The ground and buildings around them cracked under the force.
Strange conjured a powerful shield, but the pressure was overwhelming. His muscles strained, and veins bulged as he struggled to stand.
"Strange!" Wanda cried, trying to help but unable to control her magic.
"Who dares cause trouble in Kamar-Taj?" Mordo's voice boomed as he and other masters arrived.
"Kamar-Taj is not a place for you to wreak havoc," Wong added.
The masters knew the intruder was powerful but were undeterred.
"Mordo, it's Chthon!" Strange managed to say, still struggling.
"I only want what's mine. Return it to me and let me take her," Chthon pointed to Wanda. "Do this, and I will leave."
"Ridiculous. We won't give her to you," Mordo declared. "Defensive formation, now!"
The masters chanted, their hands glowing with magical energy. Crimson bands formed around Chthon, binding him.
"Impressive," Wanda whispered, watching in awe.
