Chapter 15

Celine stared dumbly at the door as Calhoun left.

She thought that Calhoun would concede to the lust they mutually experienced and take her virginity in exchange for a favor to save her sister.

Yet, he turned her down and ridiculed her.

Celine gritted her teeth.

Just because she seduced him didn't mean that she also wanted him. It was a desperate move because she would do anything for her sister's safety, and if sleeping with a werewolf would bring Monica back, she would do it without question.

"I also want to do it with the man I love. Do you think I like a heartless scum like you?" Celine only dared to say these once Calhoun was out of the room. She was venting her frustration as she had just been rejected.

Celine regulated her breath, and slowly, this heat within her body dissipated, leaving nothing but humiliation for her.

But at least Calhoun promised he'd do what she requested: find her sister.

Whether he would actually do it or not, only time would tell. She could only hope that Calhoun was a man who would keep his promise.

She got up after calming herself down, walked out of the room, and stumbled upon Marc, who stood in front of her.

He smiled awkwardly at Celine and reported, "My Boss is out to the woods, if that's what you want to ask, Miss."

Celine was in no mood to smile back at Marc.

She felt strangely irritated after she got rejected by Calhoun. She began to wonder if there was something wrong with her body that made him reject her.

But the more she thought about it, the more ridiculous she felt.

'Why do I have to bother with his opinion anyway? He is doing what I asked him to do. It's much better to know that I don't need to sleep with him for it, right?'

Marc was hesitant to ask if Celine needed something else, because from her expression, it was obvious that she was in a terrible mood right now.

"Oh, you've come out, Miss," Andrew broke the silence as he carried a food tray and put it on the dining table. He pulled the chair, inviting Celine to try his cooking. "I've prepared lunch for you. You must be hungry after a long night."

Without Calhoun around, Celine felt no fear against Marc and Andrew. Had it not been for her witnessing their transformation last night, she would think she was talking to two normal men.

Celine strode to the dining table and sat on the seat prepared for her.

Andrew opened the food cover for her, showing the lunch he just made, a Lemon Asparagus Risotto.

The risotto looked so good and fragrant that Celine was genuinely surprised. She looked at Andrew with a questioning gaze.

Andrew had a thin smile as he explained, "Sorry that I can't prepare something better for you. We don't have much in the fridge except red meat since we are carnivores, and I'm not even sure if you can eat the red meat we have."

"No, this is—" Celine half a spoon of risotto and tasted it. She was genuinely amazed by the taste. "—delicious."

"I'm glad you liked it," Andrew stepped back, allowing Celine to have her lunch.

"Of course, Miss. Andrew is a cook!" Marc cheered as the atmosphere around them became less tense.

"A cook?" Celine stared at Andrew with her doe eyes. "I thought you lived here with Calhoun."

"We do," Andrew nodded. "Our Alpha provides us more than enough money, but that doesn't mean we can't integrate ourselves inside human society. I work three days a week as a cook at an Italian restaurant in the neighboring city, about an hour's drive from Helen's Creek."

"And I'm a freshman at Portland University, studying Music!" Marc added. "You should see me during one of my performances, Miss! I'm a vocalist in a band called The Rough Rock!"

"Don't, you'll hurt your ears," Andrew said nonchalantly. "It's nothing but noise."

Marc clicked his tongue as he bickered with Andrew again, "Just because you love listening to music written by a dead man from two hundred years ago doesn't mean my song is a noise!"

Celine chuckled, hearing these two squabbling over a trivial thing, "You two seem to be close friends."

"No, we're not," Marc and Andrew said at the same time.

"Anyway, how about you, Miss? The only thing we know about you is your name, and we're not allowed to say it because Calhoun forbids us," Marc said grudgingly. "That man is so territorial for no reason."

"Hush, Marc. Miss Seymour needs to eat in peace rather than listening to you."

Celine smiled at them, "I don't mind telling you about myself. But I really have nothing interesting going on in my life."

"You don't need to be so humble, Miss," Marc said. "You are our Luna! Our Boss' mate! Surely, your life out there must be colorful as well!"

Andrew wanted to slap Marc for speaking so brazenly. Calhoun had already warned them to be careful when speaking to their new Luna because she was a human and could always betray them. Calhoun would be furious if he knew Marc warmed up to Celine quickly.

But at the same time, he also could not blame Marc for wanting to get closer to Celine.

They were naturally drawn to their Luna, seeking to know her better, protect her, and ensure she was well-fed and happy.
