Sophia slightly shrank in his embrace, and only then did Capone release her, cradling her face with his hands. His long, strong fingers wove through her long hair, moving in and out of the soft, curly strands as he breathed, "Are you cold?"

Sophia nodded.

He smiled wickedly, grabbing her hand and placing it on his chest. "Help me take off my clothes!"

She was not forceful but quite agile, removing his clothing. The tangled muscles and deep, rich skin before her were mesmerizing, yet for the first time, she focused on the old scars that marked his body—long and short, deep and shallow, etched into him.

She suddenly recalled the last time he had kissed the whip marks on her back, murmuring that he would find a plastic surgeon to remove that scar for her. But these old injuries on his body were like fragments wrapped in resin, smoothed by time, transforming into indelible marks in amber that would forever remain in his life.
