"Mrs. Sorrentino," an employee called out to Emily for what seemed like a million times.
"Yes!" Emily answered. Once again, she had been caught daydreaming in a room filled with people. She nervously sat up straight, embarrassed that she had been caught out, and she smiled at the employee, hoping to mask her embarrassment.
After lunch and a conversation with Alex, even Emily had to admit that it was by far the best conversation she had ever had since she had agreed to pretend to be Angelo's wife. Alex had been more than generous, often telling her jokes that cracked her up, and in the end, the two had exchanged numbers.
"I'm sorry; what were you saying?" Emily asked the young woman who had questioned her earlier.
