Chapter 21

They spent their evening watching the avengers endgame till the very end when they came out of the cinema only to see that it had become very late in the night.

"Wow, I guess we are past Jason's bedtime" said Aunty Mira with a chuckle after checking her time.

"It hasn't gotten that late aunty" replies Jason who still has a bag of popcorn in his hand.

"You are enjoying yourself ain't you"? Asked Aunty Mira as she stared at Jason.

"Not really aunty, I'm saying since you are feeling guilty about letting me stay outside this long" replied Jason as he tries to explain himself. 

When she heard his explanation, Aunty Mira couldn't help but let out a laugh before stroking Jason's head as she said. 

"You silly child, who would have thought that your mind could run this wild. Anyway since we have stayed outside this late, it would be best if we head home now".

"Alright then, I guess I will be taking you guys home. But before we leave, Jason, is there anything that you would love to take home"? Asked Jerry as he turned to Jason with a smile on his face.

"Thank uncle but I won't be needing anything" replied Jason.

"Come on kid, you don't have to be shy" said Jerry with the same smile on his face.

"That's enough Jerry, if you continue with this, I believe you are going to corrupt my nephew" commented Aunty Mira with a chuckle as she kicked Jerry lightly on his knee.

"Ouch, alright fine, I won't bother him anymore since he says he is not interested in getting anything, we will just have to leave it that way" replied Jerry before straightening his body.

Since there was nothing left for them to do, Jerry led them to the park where they got into the car before driving him. Along the way, Jerry would take his time to ask Jason what he thought about the movie while he continued driving. 

With the two of them discussing about the movie while on their way home, Aunty Mira comes to notice that Jerry and Jason seem to be bonding. And since they have something they like in common, they seem to be getting close and she couldn't help but let out a smile before taking out her smartphone and beginning to chat with her friends.

About twenty-five minutes later, they finally arrive at their district where Jerry stopped before their apartment and went down to open the door for Jason before opening Aunty Mira's. With the action that he took, aunty Mira couldn't help but chuckle before asking. 

"Eh, haven't you heard about the word ladies first"?.

"Yes I have, but I don't think it applies to our current situation" replied Jerry as he couldn't help but laugh out loud.

With the reply that he gave, aunty Mira also couldn't help but found it funny as she also let out a laugh before speaking up.

"I guess I will let you off this time around but it won't be the same next time" she said with a smile on her face.

They talk for some time before saying their goodbyes and Jerry drives out while Aunty Mira and Jason go to their apartment. She was just about to insert her key in when she noticed that the door was left unlocked.

"Looks like your mother is back from the hospital" aunty Mira said as she let out a sigh before opening the door.

Getting inside with Jason, they both made their way to the living where they saw Mrs. Donald watching tv with a tired look on her face as she seems to be sleepy.

"Sister-in-law, why don't you go get a sleep"? Asked aunty Mira knowing fully well that they are the reason why she is still awake. 

Mrs. Donald was shocked out of her sleep when she heard the voice all of a sudden and had to turn around to take a look only for her to see aunty Mira and Jason standing not far from her.

"What took you guys so long to get home? I have tried reaching you but your line seems to be unavailable, I even called the Kovacs to ask if you are still in their place only for them to tell me that you guys left their apartment a long time" said Mrs. Donald as she let out a breath of relief after seeing that they are safe and sound.

"We are sorry for making you worried sister in law,  we just went out for a movie since were bored. But since we are here now, why don't you get some sleep, you must be exhausted" replied aunty Mira.

"Alright, since all is well, I guess I will be going to bed now" said Mrs. Donald as she waved at them before walking to her room as she called it a day while leaving Jason and aunty Mira.

After her sister inlaw has gone to bed, aunty Mira took the initiative to go to the kitchen to get something to eat before coming back to the living room with two bowls of rice. 

"I believe you have classes tomorrow, so eat up and go to sleep alright" instructed aunty Mira before picking up the remote and changing the channel to something suitable for her to watch. 

Since his aunt has already given him an instruction, Jason could only nod his head in reply before eating away and after which, he went to his room and slept off while aunty Mira was still busy eating her food at a slower pace while watching movie.

"Now that I'm all by myself, I guess the time is right for me to watch that series" she said to herself before switching the channel once more, and just when she was about to busy herself with the series, her phone suddenly rang and she had to leave what she was doing to take a look at who the caller and to her surprise, the caller was Jerry who just called to inform her that he has gotten home.
