The devastation news had been reported by the patrol that morning. Darrell ran out of the conference room, living alphas from all over Europe and America, not caring if they were confused or even get mad.
Darrel was in a hurry. His life really depends on it. He did not even bother to change clothes or bring anything extra. He immediately shifted to his wolf and ran to the forest while he gave orders to his beta through the mind link. Then he frantically communicated with his third in command as well as the pack doctor to immediately look for him with other warriors.
He was running so fast towards his own mate, as he felt that her life was slowly diminishing.
When he arrived where she was, Darrell had found his mate was lying bleeding profusely from her chest. There were already warriors in the scene.
He could not believe his eyes. One of the female warriors was already pressing clothe on the bleeding wound.
Using his super-hearing ability, he listened to Katherine's heartbeat carefully. He did not know when the tears had started to fall, but at that time, all he knew was that he could barely hear her heart.
With the pack doctor still not present, Darrell quickly picked her up and carried her before running back to the packhouse.
With the alpha arriving like this, the pack members were startled. Some of them even jumped out of his way, while others were falling on the floor due to the dominating presence of an alpha.
Aside from that, they had never seen their alpha this worried, to the point where they could notice the beads of sweat dripping down from his forehead.
"Where is her bed?" The alpha impatiently shouted at one of the nurses, who was trembling in fear.
The nurse quickly led him to the bed and started treating Katherine.
By now, Darrell was pacing to and from and tugging his hair. He yelled at the five nurses who were attending to his wife. The pack doctor came in a few minutes after the alpha.
"Sir, I need you to get out so we can attend to your wife." One of the nurses said seriously. She was trying to be professional, despite her wolf barely holding on, cowering against Darrell's presence.
"No! I will stay here until she is well. She was hurt because I was not out with her, and I will not make the same mistake again. So don't dare tell me to leave!" Darrell firmly told the nurse.
The doctor, who was already wearing a surgical gown, has seen this and approached. "Alpha sir-"
"I said, I won't leave!" Darrell threateningly repeated. His eyes were already changing to his wolf's.
He was barely in control of himself. Because of this, the nurses and the doctors were anxious.
Marcus, as the head pack doctor, was worried as well. When he realized that they could not talk sense to Darrell anymore and knew that it was imperative to get them all working as soon as possible, he minds linked Isabella, the beta's mate, for help.
It did not take long for Isabella to prepare one of the available potions and inject it into Darrell's shoulder. With this, the mighty alpha then fell on the floor limply.
Isabella then took one of the ward linen and covered him since he had not noticed that he was naked all along. In Darrell's mind, nothing else matters. The possibility of losing his mate completely consumed him.
She then mind-linked some of the pack nurses to take him in one of the guest bedrooms on the royal wing.
These bedrooms were used when alphas from other packs came to visit and wanted to spend the night. It was also not that far as well from the operating room.
No one wanted Darrell to start hurting anyone if he realized that they sent him somewhere far away from the hospital when his mate was on the brink of death.
As soon as Darrell was out of sight, the doctor and the nurses worked in a great hurry. Marcus was giving orders endlessly.
The female nurses in the room did their best to work patiently, but they could not help feel fear and anxiety.
On the other hand, the doctors were trying all means to save the unborn baby and the mother. The alpha's child only needed three more months to be born.
Though Katherine would have been heavily pregnant if she was human, being a werewolf had allowed her to continue going for her morning runs, and she did not have a big bump that would make her feel uncomfortable.
When she went for runs, she always went in her wolf form, which made it more comfortable.
Isabella was waiting outside, praying to the Moon goddess to help Katherine and her child survive the ordeal.
