Cheryl's living room transformed into a battlefield of fantasy. Since the moment those vampires barged into her home and they spotted them everything became a blur of grunting and hissing. One second she was behind Danny and Ace, and the next they engaged in a inhuman punching contest. Annabelle formed some kind of shield around them and every time a vampire clashed with it, it zipped like a electricity fence, burning their flesh. Saying she was scared was a understatement, Cheryl was terrified. The hopeless feeling that was eating her alive, the neverending vulnerability that she was so sick of it, came crashing on her bones. Everyone was doing something to defeat them, the guys were fighting them with everything in their bones and even Annabelle was sustaining the shield dripping wet with sweat and all she did was watch. Talk about being useless. It was childhood all over again, it was her relationship with Marcus, it was her damn self being a burden to everyone she cared. She didn't know if they were fighting at a slower pace or if she was seeing every little detail in slow motion due to her panicked state.
The guys were magnificent creatures, from the way they looked all the way to the way they dodged every blow from the vampires. Everyone of them looked completely different from their usual self, they all had snakes scales, no more hair and even their faces structure was different. Ace was a combination of a white cobra, with a hint of blue when the light in her living room hit his serpent's skin, claws took the place of his hands and a striking long tail, with the same pattern as his head, broke his jeans. He was pinning a vampire to the ground with both his hands and hitting with his tail, another that wanted to attack Danny when he was busy ripping the head of one of them. Cheryl wasn't kidding when she told her brother that he was beautiful before. This new face of him, one that he kept hidden so many years, fascinated her to no end. His white as paper skin was replaced with black scales, his cheekbones were higher, adored with some kind of spikes. He had no hair, all his bleached waives were gone. When he punched the one that Jimmy was having a hard time with, his scales looked a dark green in the light. Even his tail had spikes all the way to the end. He looked marvelous and Cheryl couldn't phantom why he kept it hidden. And sweet innocent Jimmy was no more, she didn't understand why that shocked her more. He had scales the colour of green, gold, blue and orange. Every time he turned, his skin would shine another pretty colour. From the way he was breaking the bones of the vampire with his grip and tail, he deducted that he was some kind of python. But they were healing almost instantly, tiering the men continually. They were battling for two hours now and she could spot in their movements that they were getting more sluggish.
Cheryl took a glance at Annabelle when she whimpered next to her, with her hand outstretched trying to steady the sheild, while one of the vampires bumped in it and it cracked.
"I don't know how much longer I can hold it. This is one of those moments that I wish I was a full blooded witch. Unfortunately my dad is a human..."
"And this is one of those moments that I wish I knew of this world sooner." Cheryl murmured hopeless. "Unfortunately I don't know a damn thing about my abilities, or how I could help."
"You could give me your hand so I can try and siphon some power from you and transferred it to the sheild."
"Siphon all you want, if I can help you in any way, just do it." She said taking her free hand in both of hers.
The moment she grasped Annabelle's hand in hers, the sheild became a dark red colour bursting with electricity and when one of the clashed with it, its whole body burst into flames, killing the vampire completely.
"Who...who are you?" Annabelle stammered in awe of the surge of power that was cursing thru her veins.
"I don't know..." Came Cheryl's barely heard whisper.
When the guys saw the way that vampire died, they flanged them in the sheild, the moment they sized the opportunity, burning them until there was nothing left, but ash.
Cheryl was smiling at Danny, happy that it all ended, when she felt the crawling spiders all over her body. Danny's face changed from victorious to worry and finally panic. Her eyes told him everything he needed to know.
"NO!" She screamed but it was too late. A smokey hand striked Jimmy's back and got out thru his chest with the boy's beating heart in its claws. He didn't get a chance to stop Ace before he attacked the new perpetrator that just killed the boy, before his other hand wrapped around his neck draining him of his life essence.
She broke the connection with Annabelle trying to steady her. She passed out, when she saw the love of her life die in front of her eyes. Steadying her on the couch she stopped her brother with only one glance before she kneeled in front of him, with her hands up in surrender.
"Marcus, I...I'll do anything you want, but please don't hurt them. They've got nothing to do with us. It's me you want. Let them go."
