Chapter Two Hundred and Sixty Three - Visitors In The Cemetery

I kept my eyes on Hailey while driving to visit her mother's grave.

The scowl on her gorgeous face adds to her natural beauty.

I have no idea what happened but I know it's something about Bas, since she came downstairs dressed in PJ's shooting cushions at him with a promise to deal with him after ensuring Emmy had fun and most of all, that he kept her safe.

Unknown to Hailey and Mel, I hired extra security to accompany them, since my mother is in lockup and I have to idea what plans she made with scarface on the loose.

I frowned at Hailey when she suddenly squeezed my hand tightly together.

"Ryan," she calls dad whose, sitting in the passenger seat with Ger who is behind the wheel. "We have no flowers," she said with a look of panic.

Ger and I exchange a quick glance and I shrugged when he give me a puzzle look before turning to dad.

"Boss, I know absolutely nothing about flowers," Ger says, tilting his head in my direction. "Much less where it's located," lifting his eyes to the rearview mirror. "Google it." He tells me, while slowing down the vehicle.

While I google for a flower shop in the area we were at, heading out of the city, Hailey turned to Ryan, "do you know what type of flowers my mom like?" Then she continued speaking to herself, "I can't remember what she liked," Hailey whispered sadly, the scowl that she previously wore, disappeared, leaving a sad gloomy expression.

I gave Ger the directions and we continued on our journey to visit Hailey's mom grave.

Dad explained to her, why he never mention her mom's funeral or where they previously lived, because he wasn't allowed to but if she had asked before, he would have taken her. Hailey was always curious but my mom and Alan kept her past away from her and being her legal guardians, no one fought for Hailey's rights.

We entered the flower shop, with Hailey walking ahead of us, "don't you remember what flowers they used at her mother's funeral?" I whispered to dad, while Hailey looked around.

Shaking his head, "lots of white," he pauses also looking around. "I remember lots of white flowers." Nodding, dad leaves me to join Hailey.

Ger and I tagged behind them watching them choose one white flowers of every kind she found and one bouquet of sunflowers.

Hailey spun around meeting my eyes for the first time smiling happily. "I remember mom use to buy me lots of clothes with these flowers" Hailey shares a memory she just had.

Without waiting for my response, Hailey turns to the sales attendant to wrap up her purchases.

Dad paid for Hailey's purchases before continuing our journey to the resting place of Hailey's mom.

Staring out the window, Hailey's eyes are glued to the walls of the Cemetery, as dad directs Ger inside the cemetery.

Strange though, is that dad remembered exactly where Mrs. Sullivan laid, after all these years?

We followed dad while Ger choose to remain at a distance to Mrs. Sullivan's grave.

Without seeing the name on the headstone, Hailey dropped the flowers in her hands and rushed towards a clean grave, with a rainbow of colors, in small vases protecting the grave.

Throwing herself on the flat area, toppling vases filled with flowers as she fell.

"Mom, mom," Hailey cried, "I'm sorry I didn't remember where they left you." Hailey sobbed as she cried to her mom.

"No!" Ryan pulled me back when I move to comfort her. "Let her have this time." Tugging at me, Ryan motions for me to join Ger, while he went to retrieve the flowers Hailey dropped on the floor.

All I could do was observe Hailey weeping, then standing up covered in dirt to replaced the flowers that fell.

Looking around she picked up the flowers that Ryan placed behind her and started decorating the top of the grave, like a white sheet covering the top of the grave.

"Someone has been keeping this site in tip top shape," Ger mused, looking around, curiously.

Following his eyes, "my thoughts exactly." My eyes back on dad as he smells the flowers from one of vase around the grave.

What got me suspicious, is when dad, with his head lifted, looked around the graveyard, with a deep frown.

Moving away, "let me take a quick look around," Ger started walking causing my suspicion to grow, when dad stared, a faction to long, in one direction.

I saw nothing, except an elderly man walking along the path towards Hailey and dad, with two suits behind him, holding huge bunches of flowers.

I moved to rejoin dad and Hailey as the men got closer with, Hailey being the only one not aware of their approach.

Maybe these are the people who kept the grave clean, the people David Sullivan hired!

"Ryan," the elderly man greeted dad with a smirk, his eyes cold and hard.

He's vaguely familiar but his outfit isn't.

Dressed in a burgandy soft slack with a multicolored button up jersey complete with a black sneakers and two bodyguard.

Nodding dad stretches out a hand to the elderly man, the few grains of gray hair on his head standing out but his expression hasn't changed, even with dad's outstretched hand.

Ignoring dad's outstretched hand, the wrinkle face man, lowers his gaze to the girl bending low as she decorates her mother's grave.

"Is that the girl?" The grumpy old man asks.

Dropping his hand, dad turns and look down at Hailey's bent figure before nodding at the old man.

"Yes sir," dad responded. "That's your granddaughter," dad confirms.

Granddaughter?

Mrs. Sullivan's father!

No wonder he's grumpy, especially with dad.

He's angry!

Turning his attention to me, "and that's her playboy husband!" The old man whose name I still don't know looks at me with the same cold hard expression.

"Loving husband, not a playboy!"
