Chapter Two Hundred and Fifty Four - Confronting Hailey in Court

Ignoring Bas smirk, Hailey takes the tray from my hand and places it on the kitchen counter, smiling, she turns to Bas, "wash this up please," she politely requests and grabbing my hand, she pulls me behind her, walking out the kitchen.

What the f**k?

At the foot of the stairs, she stops and turns, burying her head into my chest, "oh my God" she squeals softly.

Lifting her chin, her grey eyes avoiding mines, "you're blushing or you want to continue where we left off on veranda, in the shower?" I chuckle seductively, as she reddened even more.

"You'd like that, don't you?" Hailey smirks shyly.

Nodding, "don't you?" I responded mischievously, only to have her forcefully yank her hand out of mines and run up the stairs, shouting over her shoulder.

"You're just as bad as him," she shouts.

Chuckling, I followed her at a slower pace, my mind an body already mentally preparing me for the day ahead and hopefully if all goes well, a date tonight with my lovely wife.

Hailey was already in the shower with the door shut, "hey," I pound against the close door lightly.

"Give me five minutes," she respond, her voice sounding low from behind the close door.

Disgusted, I started stripping for my bath, "guess shower sex is out," I muttered, will walking towards the ceiling to floor bedroom window, looking down at the world that's still asleep, beneath me.

Hailey and I wore all black to court this morning but my father chose to stay away, claiming he had a meeting but I have a feeling, it's about seeing my mother and David in the same room, even if it's in court.

"You f**king bitch!" I heard Chubbs, before I saw her charging towards Hailey and I.

Or more precisely, Hailey!

Bas who walked just a step behind Hailey, already had a grip on Chubbs shoulder, pushing her backwards.

"Down girl," he muttered softly but his tone was deep and menacing.

Lifting my eyes behind her, I saw mom staring at us with a smug expression, while beside her stood an elderly nervous woman who kept clenching and unclenching her hands, while fixating her eyes on Hailey.

My wife's paid her no attention since Cubbs was wriggling and struggling against Bas arms, "I told you, my father would never choose you over me," Chubbs shouted and unlike a confused Hailey, I knew she was speaking about David Sullivan, her father.

Putting an arm around Hailey's shoulder, I nod to Bas before escorting a reluctant Hailey towards an apprehensive looking Gussippie, walking through the door he held open for us, with his eyes still on Bas and my sister was was fighting against the stronghold he held her with.

Hailey was so confused at Chubbs outburst, I don't think she even realized mom and the lady whom I assume was her therapist standing just outside the door of the courtroom.

"We have to call Ryan," she says softly, whilst digging in her handbag.

Gripping her hands gently, I stopped her, "he has an early morning meeting" I whispered, even though the room was empty.

"Adana needs him," shrugging my hands away, she pulled out her phone and I sat wondering how to deal with something her father wanted to personally tell her about.

"Hailey," I called against her shoulder but she ignored me and whatever message she was able to send to dad, was short, yet I felt she would have fought if I tried stopping her from sending the message.

Gazing apologetically at her, "I'm not sure Hailey, but I don't think Chubbs was talking about dad," I whispered staring intently at her upturned face, watching her confused expression remained intact.

It's not my place to say anything but I have to give some kind of warning incase mom or Chubbs reveal it in court.

"May I have a word with you?" Gussippie whispers from beside me.

Nodding, I looked at Hailey, who just smiled and tilted her head at Gussippie.

Pecking her on the cheek, I moved to the back of the courtroom where Gussippie stood waiting for me, fully aware Hailey never took her eyes of me.

"Quick word," Gussippie starts, "the trial is still closed but your mother wasn't informed, so she seem to have invited people from the outside with her"Gussippie says. Even though I shouldn't be, I am surprise at her move, while wondering at the same time, if she set Chubbs up to get a rise out of Hailey by provoking her.

"Adana Sullivan could be a problem though." He says. "The security guard had to put her outside and that's how we realize there were others in support of your mother." Gussippie says. "Also, both witnesses are placed in separate rooms until the court calls them." Gussippie continues speaking lowly.

Despite all that he said, the only words ringing in my head, 'Adana Sullivan'! No wonder dad left and I have a nagging feeling that he was emotionally forced out.

"Hailey doesn't know about Ch.. Adana," I corrected myself because Gussippie won't know about her nickname. "And I was just about to hint it, incase my mother says something or Adana or someone else blurts it out." I admitted, turning to look at Hailey, whose head was now bent in front of her.

"It's time," Gussippie says walking towards the front of the courtroom while the prosecutor from Wednesday, sat in his chair, propping his chin, deep in thought.

As the trial started, Judge Roberts addressed the court, or really the legal counsels, explaining the new witnesses he's called to the hearing and by the way the prosecutor's head shot up, it's news to him.

Hailey appeared absent minded, without even reacting when her father, with his eyes on her entered the courtroom or when her therapist Dr. Jenkins took the stand.

The prosecutor objected twice while Gussippie was questioning her, but Judge Roberts overruled on the two occasions.
