The rampant rebel groups, known as Kagena, were a small fraction of an intergalactic terrorist group. SOUL agency had been waging war with the group for almost ten thousand years, and they still had no crucial information on the group or their operation.
Aarav never promised Cindy anything. He was obliged to do the duty. He reported the matter.
Soon, a raid on the rebel forces was carried out. Aarav only revealed the info after Cindy had left for Utania Academy. Her uncle had left with her. He did not want her to get implicated.
Soon all the hideouts of Kagena rebels were cracked down and arrested along with their leader. The leader was the very aunt who had taken Cindy in. Interrogations were going on. She did not give out any information.
SOUL already was suspicious of Janet, but they did not have any hard evidence. Later, they found out, that she was an imposter, living life of another person.
Edward's wife Janet had already died. Because of his short term memory, he forgot his wife's death and considered the imposter, who looked exactly like his wife from his memory, his wife. He didn't found out anything weird about his wife. Even if he did, he would soon forget. Under the guise of it, she did all the work under the nose of the local authority.
After cracking the case, Aarav was very likely to become an official soon. He was just waiting for the good news.
Ian in the meanwhile was hardworking to increase his magic power. He had awakened ice attribute. Soon after Ian came to Caito, he had his awakening dream. He found himself abandoned by his friends and family, alone and cold. He was literally on the door to death when he finally realised that he was dreaming. When he woke up, he had frozen everything in his room, including the doors which jammed. Aarav and Kiara were knocking on his door desperately. They had realised that he was in danger. They had to call someone to melt all the ice.
He was exhilarated to find his magic ability. He wanted to master it and go back to his family.
Because of the time-lapse between Taiba and the outside world, it was difficult to communicate with his family. Samuel had sent a letter after he just landed in Crillon asking well beings of Ian. He had promised to send letters frequently which only meant Ian could receive them in few months interval. They could do nothing about it.
All over Taiba, the situation was becoming chaotic. Every day, the news channel was showing the arrest of many rebels. Many influential people had turned out as secret agents for Kagena. The situation was shocking. Many institutes were under strict scrutiny from the SOUL. They were looking out for moles in their department as well.
There was a lot of heat outside. Aarav remembered Cindy saying that something big would happen in one month. Since the rebel leader herself got caught, nothing would happen or so he thought.
In the night, alarms were sounding.
"What's going on?"
Kiara woke up and woke others up as well. There was a message on the i-card.
"Red Alert, what does that mean?" Ian asked as he read the message.
Aarav put on the TV. Reports were coming of sudden animal attacks. It had been happening for a while, but this time it was serious as they had broke inside the city perimeters. The pocket dimensions were impenetrable, but they made through it.
"Guys, look outside," Kiara called out others to the balcony. Outside, few buildings at a distance were on fire. Aarav's phone soon vibrated. He was asked to report to work.
"You guys stay inside. Don't let anyone in. I will come back soon."
Aarav called for Zorian and soon left. When he reached the HQs, there was chaos. There were instructions to evacuate the city people to safer places. Nobody knew the exact situation. The north gate was breached, resulting in many casualties.
Aarav was sent on a rescue operation. This time, Jeremy wasn't with him. He was sent to secure the perimeters of other zones.
Aarav quickly left. They spent hours taking out the casualties while killing all the animals on their way.
"Boom"
A loud explosion sounded. It came from the East zone. He soon found out what had happened as he flew up in the sky.
A huge dragon was parading the city and everything was on fire. The loud explosion was from the breaking of the dimension when he broke in. Aarav looked carefully. It was Shula. It was the same heavenly dragon that had helped them.
"What's wrong with him?"
Shula looked mad. He was destroying everything in his way. Aarav decided to communicate with him. He remembered the token that he had given to him. He took it out and tried to establish a connection with him. It didn't work.
He tried going near it, but Zorian was not willing. He was scared.
"We have to go. Kiara and Ian are over there. Also, I know that guy. He won't hurt us."
Aarav flew near him. The dragon's eyes were red. He was mad. When they got near, it spewed fire on them. Aarav skillfully dodged. It was totally out of its mind. Aarav rushed back home to evacuate Ian and Kiara.
Before he could go, he got a mental message from Valenthia.
"Aarav. Get out of there."
He looked around. He found Valenthia approaching him.
"Where were you? I was trying to contact you for so long."
"I was far away. Runaway from here. You will get hurt."
"What happened to him?"
"I don't know. He has been behaving weirdly. He has probably lost his mind. I will try to subdue him. You should leave."
"Long live the Holy Guardian. Thank you for coming out to help us."
As they were talking, a SOUL agent approached and greeted Valenthia.
"You should go back. I will take care of it."
"That will be great. But we can't leave. We are afraid you are no match for him. Your current state doesn't look good."
Valenthia scoffed, "You pesky human, because of you people, a lot of my people have been hurt. What did they deserve to suffer like this?"
"I'm sorry but I didn't mean to offend you. We will try to take care of this mess. But before that, you need to tend to your injury or let us assist you."
"Do whatever you want. Just don't kill that guy."
The officer sends many orders to his agents. "You also go to the sniping position."
He also gave Aarav some directions. He didn't know the officer, but the officer already knew his abilities. Aarav took out his sniping rifle and got to the position.
The battle was long drawn. The officers were shooting the dragon from every direction. There was a lot of magic powers attacking the enormous dragon. The attacks were highly coordinated and raining on the dragon continuously.
Valenthia was also attacking him to subdue him but her condition was not good at all. Aarav didn't want to hurt his friend. He was reluctantly shooting him.
He very well knew Shula's strength. This much couldn't harm. But it pained him nonetheless.
As the fight drew out, they were losing patience. They were losing the battle. The situation was not improving at all. The dragon was causing havoc in the city. The barrier was almost half broken. It cannot take a few more hits of the dragon's oppressive power.
The officer lost his patience. "This is not working. I'm sorry but I have to do this."
