The sniper was waiting for the heads up to take the life of a young girl sitting at the park bench no one knew she had a gun to her waist. The woman sitting next to her so tensed kept pressing the gun on her waist. The girl was humming to a tune and every attempt of the woman to quiet her was not working. She tried to fake a smile and make everyone believe that she was interested in the song, but it didn't sit well with her.
She never knew any lullaby sings for young children, she never held her child with a lot of care, apart from burning her with a cigarette, yes, her child's body was used to turn off a cigarette. Her body is full of marks, and burns that make her look like a burnt burrito.
She doesn't remember any of that. She claims to be loving her child but she doesn't, if she loved her child, she would have known the pain of kidnapping her granddaughter and threatening her at gunpoint.
Nimo is fearless, she has learned that from her parents. Her mother took care of her ever since she was young, she learned how to tackle problems without help. She was there for her brother, she learned from the women around her that you are not supposed to be afraid. When she finally got someone to call dad, she had been happy, she was well treated and she got everything she wanted. Good training place, good house to sleep on and she was happy that her mother never cried herself to sleep and the following day she would lie that she had a headache. When she knew why her mum was crying every night, it was because she missed the person who made her smile genuinely, the person who loved her to death. She didn't know how to approach her. Right now with a gun to her waist, she will lie to say she is not afraid, but like every nightmare That her parents helped her to pass, she used the same song to keep herself alert. She knows her parents love her and the woman beside her who is trying to make matters worse is not going to have a chance. Did she smile, why? She could see the light at the end of the tunnel. She saw Zainab, the guard who makes sure she is safe every day they go to school, she didn't want to look obvious, she slowly darted her eyes to the woman with the gun on her waist but her other eyes were looking at any other sign of another light. She saw, Pete, Jade's uncle smiling at her, she shook her head while singing, knowing very well those words are not in the song but a way to irritate the woman beside her.
Her parents were around, they were very keen to not create attention. Davids and Daniella appeared in front of the beach that was opposite them. Amanda's phone rang, and Nimo was more alert than ever, she looked in every direction to make sure that she is seeing her parents.
Daniella was sobbing in Davids's chest and Nimo heard her, in front of her, some three meters away from them, they sat looking at them. She saw the same pain she saw in her mother when she was crying every night. She knew very well the eyes, though she was far away, she knew the pain. She was seven, almost eight on Christmas day. She smiled and hoped her mother could see her smile from where she was.
"Are you guys here because I can't see you!"
Amanda retorted from her sitting point. Davids sighed from her sitting point and told her to look directly at the three chairs from her sitting point. She saw them, sitting down.
"Good, you are going to walk towards me slowly with Daniella while I walk with your kid who is now annoying me with her silly songs. Do not try to act funny, or I will shoot her."
"Please, don't do that, she will bring me, just make sure she is not hurt or anything, please she is all that I have."
Daniella was too quick to get the phone from Davids and talked into it, she didn't want Amanda to do anything to Nimo.
Ending the call, they both stood up and Nimo saw her parents. She could see her tired mother, it was six in the evening but she was walking like she was sixty.
Nimo walked slowly because Amanda was not allowing her to run quickly to her parents. Pete and Zainab were waiting for the right moment, they saw the two men walking toward Amanda and they silently followed them from behind. Amanda was looking through all sides to make sure that her guards were behind her, they were not there for long. Pete and Zainab got hold of them and they were silently executed by the audience. They got carried away and the men with the same clothes were placed behind Amanda to act as the guards.
"I am sorry baby, I am sorry, I didn't want any of this to happen."
Daniella hugged Nimo once they met. Nimo hugged her too and she couldn't help but shed a tear. She always did when her mother's sound was in her head.
"Daniella we don't have the whole day, we need to go."
"Go where, I am not going with you anywhere, I have my kid and I am going with her."
Amanda removed her gun but her hand was stopped by the guards behind her. Looking at them, she realized they were not her guards who were there but different people. David's smiled at her, she was tied and taken away.
Davids hugged Nimo who was now crying and hushed her. She didn't want him to cry. She had been brave enough for the day. Davids winked at Dominic and they went home leaving Dominic with Amanda.
"Dad, what is going to happen with her? Is she going to jail?"
Davids nodded while holding Nimo on her chest. She didn't allow her to walk. She had been a good girl ever since she was kidnapped. She talked her way though and even though the guards couldn't find her, she gave correct directions.
"Mum, I love you, I love you so much."
Nimo said to her mum once they were inside the car. Daniella hugged her tightly while crying. She knew the people who mattered to her the most were her family and she didn't want to leave any of them. They went back to Davids's parents. A lot of people were waiting for them. Damien we there together with Clara. They had given up on their wedding plans and were there. The Templeton was also there and Dominic had beaten them to get there.
Jade was the first to run up to them when he saw them. He hugged Nimo and kissed her on the forehead.
"Sorry I was not there, how are you feeling."
They were not ashamed. Jade wanted to make sure that she was doing fine and was happy that she was. Her other siblings together with Abrianna and Adrain hugged her one by one. Zeke and Rose were crying and they had some dry tears on their faces. Nimo couldn't help but cry when she saw them too. She knows they are her best friend and the family she has. She smiled and hugged them again tightly. Jade was not letting her out of his sight. He walked with her all the way, greeting people, her grandmother was also crying. Nimo had to wipe her tears and tell her that she was okay. Ashley smiled at her and pinched her cheeks.
"I am happy that you are here and I stole a chocolate bar for you today from grandma's fridge. Zeke and Rose have eaten a lot of this, they are probably crying because of the sugar rush."
"Please, hope you didn't put it in your boobs, I won't take it."
"Jesus, we are at your Grandma's why would I put it in my boobs?"
"That's what you did to Jade's chocolate this morning?"
"Wait, does it count when you wanted to put it in your shoes and take it back to him?"
Jade looked at both of them. He couldn't help but worry about their behaviors.
"Yeah, Jade, your bestie here, stole your chocolate and wanted to sneak it back into your locker by putting it in her shoes."
"Both of you have disgusting behaviors, I will make sure I don't eat anything from you again."
"Stop being a baby, it was just today, maybe I will piss on it next time before bringing it to you."
"Nimo!"
Both Jade and Ashley shouted looking at her.
Nimo was asked to take a shower Jade was still tagging behind her. Ashley wondered if he was going to look at her take a shower and be the spiderman of the year.
Jade decided to be at the bathroom door while she takes a shower even though Nimo protested. Ashley brought her new clothes from the rooms and helped her to get dressed in them. They had their supper before they left. Davids and Daniella had to wait before going home.
"She is mine Davids, I will make sure that I shoot a bullet through her thick skull, she needs to know that I don't have time with her, plus, I need to call my dad, he needs to know about this, I can't have this woman try to ruin my life."
Davids had to let her shout all over the place because it was her right to. She has every right, to shout and be mad.
"Let's hope tomorrow is a new day because you will have your chance to do whatever you love darling."
