The room temperature dropped.
Though slightly pale but looking better now, Jenny turned to Jason with a blank face. "Make me." she smirked and challenged him. She had been through hell and managed to make it out alive, though some of her memories were jumbled and didn't remember lots about herself, what she knew was that she'd never succumb to others commands.
Mike gulped nervously, he didn't think that the lady they saved could have an aura equaling to that of Jason. That was super scary.
"I'm only trying to help!" Jason mellowed down, he realised she was not his subordinate who he could command and she was not obliged to answer him. He didn't miss that sudden change in her aura, it was authoritative and ominous, a worthy opponent! He smirked internally maintaining his expressionless face.
Jenny on the other side was purely irritated. 'Why am I getting fired up when ever I talk to this guy?' Jenny scolded herself internally. "I can manage. Now that am alive and well." Jenny decided not to indulge him.
"You won't tell me who shot you?" Jason persisted.
"There's nothing you can do about it." Chose to brush him off and turned to leave.
"I can help." Jason offered. He himself didn't know why he was being like this but couldn't help it. If what happened previously happened again and he wasn't there? Wait, what?! He groaned in frustration.
"I'll come find you if I need it." Maybe she could use a little help but not right now she thought. What's good in attacking them
'I need to litigate this situation, both parties are hard headed!' thought James. "Jenny, can you sit down. We can talk about this without going for eachothers' necks."
Taking a deep breath, Jenny went to seat comfortably in the leather single seater. The others left the kitchen and strode to the sitting room making themselves comfortable.
"Why are you so interested?". Jenny asked. scanning the men. She knew they were not simple handsome men and alot was hidden behind their handsome masks.
"It's because you don't seem like an ordinary lady to us." Travis spoke finally.
Looking at him, her expression was smig. "Neither are you!" she bit back.
"Tell us who shot you!" Jason felt so angry and was having a hard time understanding why. 'Was it because she refused to tell him or...arrghh why do I even care!!!'
"Are you commanding me?" Jenny frowned. He seems he's used to giving out orders she thought. What organisation does he come from, I've never seen him before!!
This was going no where with these two bitting at each other. "Jason, let me handle this." James intervened. "Jenny, we are not bad people and I believe we can help you, just tell us who."
'Justice fighters!!' she thought. "Do you want your lives?" she asked.
"Don't go to mind games Jenny!" 'why doesn't she just say it, probably she knows who they are!' Jason thought.
"Why should I tell you, are we that close?"
"That...this..." James kept looking back and forth between these two hard heads.
"Since your so eager to know who shot me, why don't we start with the basics, introduction. Without your masks!" she leaned forward hands on her upper knees and scanned through the men. A posture for confidence, she made direct eye contact with each of them.
"Jenny!!!" James whined and pouted. Activating power charm, she won't make things difficult. Right?!
"If your not going to tell me, how am I to trust people I've only encountered in a short while. Let's say you saved me for your own selfish reasons." she attacked calmly and the men were left dumbfounded. James who was ignored deactivated his charm and knew this was beyond serious.
Looking at Liam, Jenny raised an eyebrow at him. He found himself speak unconsciously. "I'm Liam Brooke, son of Lucas Brooke of the GW group and I mean Miss Jenny no harm!" Everyone turned to look at Liam, he was forced to shrink in his neck.
"I know who you are Liam and I have no problem with you, actually I wonder why your hanging about with these men. Are you being corrupted?" Jenny didn't hide her distrust for the men in the room, she didn't ridicule them. Unfortunately for her, she had learnt life the hard way.
Liam and the others didn't know how to feel, she knows Brooke? Then she's probably from an aristocratic family. Jason kept looking at Jenny with squinted eyes, there's something about her that he had failed to put a finger on.
She was not yet done.
"And James Williams, I didn't know you were a doctor, I'm impressed!" She looked at James assessingly. Actually she was quite surprised when she saw him in this place. James felt a chill down his spine. How does she know my Sir name, who's this lady?!
Only one person in the room was still on track while the others started to stray. "Jenny, don't ry to change the subject, who shot you?"
'Good, he's not asking who I am but wants to know who shot me, interesting!?' Jenny smiled at him. "Jason, on account that you saved me, I'll pay up by filling you in so you won't die of curiosity, it was Reign!" she said indifferently.
Liam and James shuddered, Mike and Travis felt their faces twitch and Jason looked at her "Oh!" was all he said.
"Why did they shot you?" he asked. Such a stupid question. Of course to kill her. Jason reprimanded himself.
"Huh", she laughed scornfully, "To kill me." she shrugged it off indifferently.
"You didn't die!" Jason noted the key points. If they wanted her dead, then she would have been dead, but they last her live and according to Travis's report from that night, they had been sent to kill her but they didn't. Something fishy was going on.
"Because I shouldn't." she replied looking straight in his eyes
"Why shouldn't you die?"
Jenny only smirked and stood up. "I'm exhausted. I'll go up and rest then take my leave right after. Thanks for your hospitality." And she disappeared from the room.
Shot by Reign!!! Liam was sweating. Who didn't know the notorious Reign brotherhood from country K. Those men were vicious and had unquenchable bloodlust. They had developed a chain and spread their network all through out the continent. Recently, after their leader had been murdered, the once mighty and great Dragon Reign brotherhood broke into two factions over the power struggle and each group ended up with different leaders. The current leader was not known but was the only one to bring this group back together and now, they wanted Jenny dead, why? Who is she? there were so many questions not only with Liam but with the others as well.
Jenny went and dived back in bad after that interrogation having had her fill of the food.
Back at Lucas Brooke, he was pacing about in the hospital corridle close to his daughter's room, she was in the ICU, after he found her laying in the bathtub with a slit wrist. Luckily, she was not dead but they needed to know why she was in that state. It couldn't have been a suicide right, it had to be an attack.
Wilson came back from the Brooke mansion and headed to his master. "How's the investigation?", Lucas asked the moment he saw Wilson.
"Our team have carried out the investigation and we also let the police do the same and the results were the same. Young miss attempted to hurt herself."
"Ridiculous, what are you saying? Go re-investigate everything, and I mean everything, someone is probably manipulating things. My daughter can't hurt herself, she was attacked!! I need to find out who dared and I'll show them not to mess with a Brooke!" Lucas let his pent up frustrations at Wilson who didn't seem the least bothered. Actually, he was expressionless. Wilson only lowered his head to endure the yelling.
"What are you still doing here, Scram, I need a fully equipped report with me by tomorrow morning and don't dare go about that bullshit that Tracy tried to kill herself!!"
"I understand. Sir, what about the dinner meeting with chief?"
"Cancel it, tell him my daughter was attacked!"
"Right away. Wilson called to know their stand and after confirming with the chiefs secretary, he turned to Lucas. "Sir, chief said he's going to drop by."
"Let him, I'll be waiting. Get me a set of clean clothes, I can't look like this. And bring my wife here once she wakes up!"
"Yes sir. Also, the general manager from Predator Conglomerate agreed to meet you tomorrow during lunch."
Heaving a sigh, Lucas looked ahead and slightly relaxed. "Mmm, that's good news. Send me the report on what happened to my daughter tomorrow before 11 am. I'll stay and wait for chief!"
Wilson turned and left the hospital to handle the issues of his grumpy boss.
