Chapter 133: Lucky...

The boy's face showed surprise and confusion which left him with a somewhat silly expression.

But this was only momentary, he grabbed the knife that he had dropped and pointed it at Adryan and he positioned himself in front of his father.

"Who are you and what are you doing here? We don't have anything of value so get out of here!" Jerry growled and Adryan tilted his head slightly.

"That's a weird question.You already know who I am."

At those words, Jerry tightened his grip on the knife and took a step back.

"F-Fire Mage?"

Adryan chuckled softly, he made an elegant bow, placing a hand on his chest as if inviting a Lady to dance.

"The same, although I prefer to be called Mr. Holmes"

"Fire Mage doesn't have that charm you know? Although it's a good nickname it's a bit embarrassing don't you think?" he said with a smile under his mask as he straightened up.

"..." Jerry said nothing but nodded, always protecting his father.

Adryan ignored that and looked around the small room.

There was a subtle smell of shit...

"You have a nice room. It's quite clean and organized. You have my congratulations." he finishes saying, stopping in front of the pot.

"Cooking medicine for your father?"

"Stay away from it!" Jerry was so engrossed in the man's words that he hadn't realized he had moved there.

Adryan ignored that and lifted the lid of the pot and peered inside.

Jerry couldn't take it anymore and ran towards the man ready to stab him.

At the last moment, Adryan stepped out of the way and tripped the boy.

The boy fell to the ground on his face but did not drop the knife.

Before he could try to get up, his hand with the knife was stepped on.

Jerry tried to remove his hand but the foot wouldn't budge.

He raised his head and saw how the masked man wasn't even looking at him.

Enraged he tried to punch the man's leg to free himself but when his fist made contact he felt his hand twist, it was as if he had hit a brick wall.

"I wouldn't try that again if I were you. Your little rice arms won't move me, all you'll do is break your hand." Adryan said nonchalantly finally looking at Jerry.

"What are you looking for?! We don't have money or anything of value!" Jerry yelled helplessly as he stared at him, his hand still trapped under his foot.

'Now I'm a real bully.' Adryan thought with the corners of his mouth twitching.

He was bullying someone much smaller and weaker than him...

He erased those thoughts from his mind with a sigh.

"I'm not looking for anything like that, little one. I have codes and I don't rob people who don't have money." Adryan said calmly as he closed the pot again.

"Actually I just want your help on one little thing."

Jerry was surprised by this and looked at the man strangely.

Adryan chuckled softly again as he lifted his foot freeing Jerry.

"I don't mean to hurt you" he said calmly as he extended his hand to the boy.

If he had wanted that, he would have simply used a little more force to step on his hand.

Of course, he wouldn't say that to the boy, that would only scare him.

Jerry eyed the outstretched hand suspiciously but still grab it nonetheless.

Adryan picked up the boy and he released his hand.

"See~ I'm harmless" he said jokingly but Jerry just looked at him with his gray eyes.

"What do you want Mr. Holmes? My father needs to rest"

Adryan looked at the lying man for a few moments before returning his gaze to Jerry.

"It would be better if we talk in a more private place. I don't want to bother your old man"

Jerry looked at him for a few seconds before nodding.

...

Now they were both on the stairs of the top floor of the building.

According to Jerry, all the people who lived on this floor worked and wouldn't come back until night.

Adryan accepted this place to talk because he couldn't hear anyone in the rooms.

Jerry was looking at him with a bit of emotion and this made him feel strange.

'Before you tried to stab me and now you look at me as if I were your idol? That change is a bit abrupt don't you think?' The redhead thought seriously, noticing this curiosity of the child.

They hadn't said anything in a while and Adryan didn't want to sit there being looked at like he was Messi after winning the World Cup.

So the redhead was the first to say something.

"Your name is Jerry correct?"

"How do you know?" Jerry looked puzzled at this and Adryan felt this was a little strange.

He decided to check this so he followed the brat's game.

"I was following you and I heard your chat with your friends. Lovely friends you got there by the way"

The corners of Jerry's mouth twitched but he quickly recovered and gave a small smile.

"You are very different from the rumors Mr. Holmes."

Jerry's gray eyes became more crystalline.

Adryan felt a very familiar sensation...

He cracked his neck as he answered.

"You can't trust someone's rumors, passing from mouth to mouth the person they are talking about slowly changes because more details are added to the point that they become two different people."

Adryan held up a hand.

"The Original Person"

Adryan raised the other.

"The person from the rumors."

Jerry's crystalline eyes captured all of Adryan's movements, who kept his smile.

"You are more interesting than the rumors give you credit for, Mr. Holmes," Jerry said faintly.

"Ahh yes~" Adryan said curiously as he tilted his head to the side.

"Rumors painted him as a white knight, a hero of justice who brought justice to the wicked and protected the innocent." the small smile on Jerry's face grew slightly.

"I'm glad to know there's more to you than meets the eye"

"After all, what hero would sneak into the house of a girl whose father is sick?"

Adryan was momentarily thrown off balance but didn't let it affect his body language.

He just tilted his head to the other side.

"You are a girl?" he asked showing surprise in his voice. He even looked Jerry up and down.

At this Jerry's gray eyes lost their sparkle and she frowned angrily.

"You are very different from what I imagined" there was a trace of disappointment in her voice.

"That's why you don't have to put someone on a pedestal. You risk ending very disappointed." Adryan said calmly but then let out a mischievous laugh.

"Besides, how are you sure I'm the real Mr. Holmes? I could be a madman who disguises himself as him to take advantage of children~"

Jerry froze for a moment but then shook her head with a shaky smile.

"Someone already tried to do that, go out dressed as Mr. Holmes and take advantage of the man's reputation. He didn't last long, the gangs make sure of that..." she said darkly but then smile softly.

"Besides, his costume wasn't as detailed as yours," she said as she pointed at him.

"You're very confident in that detail Jerry, are you sure you can trust that?" Adryan said as he leaned against the wall in amusement.

Jerry smiled faintly, her gray eyes turning crystalline again.

"You don't have the characteristics of anyone around here, You don't act like someone from here either, no matter who you are you can never fool me" the girl finished saying with a hint of arrogance.

The familiar feeling returned and Adryan could only sigh internally.

The clues had been pieced together and all the abilities displayed by Jerry only pointed to one pathway.

One of the pathways that Adryan knew very well...

'Half-Spectator huh?' the redhead thought heavily.

Of all the pathways features, Spectator was the best fit for what Jerry had shown.

From being able to 'see' where people hid their money to being able to recognize someone just by seeing their way of acting.

And also because the feeling that her gaze gave him was almost identical to the one he felt when Audrey looked at him at the Tarot Club.

Weaker but the same sensation itself.

A shiver went up the redhead's back, but he didn't show any reaction.

'Just what I was looking for...How lucky...'

Adryan shook his head.

He would first solve this and then figure out what to do with this information in a safer place.

A city with smoke for example...

Not wanting to play anymore he decided to get straight to the point.

"Now that we know each other well as good friends we can talk about why I followed you." he said seriously.

Jerry closed her mouth in surprise but nodded.

"I want to know where you meet Dead Shot..."
