Mysterious Scientist

Inspector Fredrin made the decision to return to his desk as soon as he got back from court. Several significant documents pertaining to the Reynard West case needed to be handled by him. He still enjoys doing all of his tasks, though. After this, he was certain that everyone would compliment him. As soon as he entered the police station, he was greeted by a number of people who offered their congratulations.

"Congratulations on your success on the Reynard West case, Inspector. He ought to be punished for his crimes," said a coworker who was shaking the inspector's hand.

"I sincerely appreciate it."

"In this city, Reynard West and his gang are indeed a problem. They are like annoying cockroaches. The police are never able to catch them. However, the Inspector has now apprehended him," said another officer.

"Not just myself should be given credit. This is also a result of everyone's cooperation. In response to information from the field, you move swiftly. Without everyone of us working diligently, none of this would have been possible. All of you make me proud," the Inspector said. Every department on his staff received accolades from him. He smiled and shook hands with everyone before going into his room.

Inspector Fredrin is currently sipping coffee and admiring the view outside his office window. He had not caught an important fugitive in a long time. He only receives cases lately that he finds less fascinating.

"One more criminals have been eliminated from this city. Oh, I'm doing fine. Even though my job is just so. I was just sent in to be the assault leader. The two patrolmen appear to likewise be deserving of promotion. Yes, I will reward them appropriately," the Inspector whispered to himself.

Inspector Fredrin sat behind the desk after taking a time to himself. He reviewed the documents for the transfer of prisoners to jails outside the city to make sure everything was complete. No prison in that city was secure enough for Reynard West to reside there. The conspirator has not yet been apprehended. He had better take care to stop Reynard from fleeing.

Meanwhile, a man meets with police officials to schedule a meeting with Inspector Fredrin in the police station's foyer. "I'm sorry, officer. I'd like to see Inspector Fredrin. I have heard that he has just apprehended Reynard West," he declared.

"That is accurate, sir. But did you schedule a meeting with the Inspector in beforehand?" enquired of the officer.

"I'm doing it now with you. I advise getting in touch with him right away. Inform him that Dr. Kayle is on the bottom floor waiting for him. I want to talk to him about something really serious. The man kept talking. Seems like his request to see the Inspector was a little forceful. But it shouldn't be an issue. Inspector Fredrin was well known to him.

"Okay sir." Through the office phone line that is immediately connected to the Inspector's office, the officer places a call. He carried out the man's advice exactly. He attempted to bargain with his supervisors for a while. After some time had passed, he spoke with Dr. Kayle once more. "I'll take you to Inspector Fredrin's room. Come with me, sir."

Dr. Kayle was promptly brought to the Inspector's room by the officer. He has just been given instructions to allow Dr. Kayle to visit the Inspector. Before arriving at the Inspector's room, they had to ascend the elevator and pass through many work spaces. The officer knocked on the door and said, "Excuse me, Inspector. Dr. Kayle wants to see you."

Inspector Fredrin said, "Send him in."

Then saw Dr. Kayle entered the room quietly. He shut the door and secured it by locking from the inside. He didn't want anyone else to hear his conversation with the Inspector. He then proceeded to approach the Inspector, who was still working on his case files. "It's been a while, Inspector. Do you still remember me?" questioned Dr. Kayle.

"Dr. Kayle, how could I have forgotten you? You're the best scientist in town. Make yourself at home and sit down." The inspector smiled warmly as he welcomed his guest. Dr. Kayle was allowed to take a seat. "So tell me, what brings you here?"

"First of all, let me congratulate you on the assault mission you completed successfully yesterday. I thought the trial went well too. I've never seen a prisoner go through a trial in so little time. Normally, they would undergo a lengthy examination process. Reynard West actually receives special privileges here, it appears," Dr. Kayle said.

"That is due to the disturbance that young man has created in this city. I don't want to hold up formalities for too long. I want Reynard to be punished as soon as possible before his accomplice comes and helps him escape." With pride, Inspector states this. He believes himself to be so deserving of this city's protection.

"Is that so? Alright, no problem. Sincerely, you're not the only person who is curious about Reynard West. Similar to you, I am. In the lab, I'm engaged in a significant project. To ensure the success of our research, we require test subjects. Before I use the machine I made for myself, I want Reynard to do so," Dr. Kayle stated.

Then he pulled a fat, brown packet from his pocket. He handed it to the Inspector. When Inspector Fredrin noticed this, he was perplexed. "What is that?"

"Consider it a personal gift from me. Reynard West has already served fifteen years in prison. Tomorrow, he will be moved, but not to his new prison, but rather to my lab."

Inspector Fredrin was surprised by Dr. Kayle. The scientist wanted to make Reynard an experimental subject in his team's research. He wondered how a great scientist like Dr. Kayle could want Reynard so badly that he would spend money to get him. The inspector tried to asked him. "Why Reynard? This town is full of folks who may serve as your test subjects," the Inspector continued.

"I'm working on an important project, Inspector Fredrin. This might represent a significant scientific advance. If my discoveries are correct, human civilization will grow. I still want Reynard, though. Nobody else can take his place. However, if you decide not to assist me, I will leave from here and be forced to find a replacement."

Dr. Kayle got up from her seat and took back her envelope. However, Inspector Fredrin holds his hand.

"Who says I don't want to?"
