Reynard was at a loss for what to do the next morning. He had already agreed with Dr. Kayle yesterday without giving it any further thought. Whether he will gain from this agreement or not. Now, the only thing he cares about is his pals. He had stopped even considering his own fate. He simply ended up sitting contemplatively in his cell in the end.
"Gosh, why did it have to end like this?" Reynard turned his head upward and peered up at the prison's gloomy ceiling. His eyes then fell shut. He felt utterly let down, deeply disappointed. He is dissatisfied with himself, not with others. All of this would not have occurred if he had exercised self-control that day.
A warden soon arrived and unlocked Reynard's jail door. He observed the warden to be by himself. He usually travels with a few coworkers. It's odd that Reynard was not required to wear handcuffs. He felt that he would not be transferred to another prison, he felt that soon he would breathe free air.
The warden briefly stated, "The car is waiting for you." He indicated that Reynard should leave his cell right now. He followed the warden outside. He was brought all the way down to the police station. There is a large, dim parking area.
Reynard was taken aback by the luxurious car that only the rich could afford, not the prisoner's car that was now in front of him. Only a few wealthy people lived in the city. After that, none of the other security personnel—not even Inspector Fredrin—appeared to accompany him out of the police station.
Reynard gently whispered, "Am I dreaming?"
The luxury car's driver exited the car and unlocked the passenger door. Dr. Kayle was spotted in the car, where he was lounging and sipping on a drink. He gave Reynard a warm smile as he glanced at him. "Come in Mr. West. I'll keep my word to you right away," he said.
"Are you kidding?" Reynard asked the inquiry on the spur of the moment. He was still in disbelief that he had managed to avoid spending fifteen years in prison.
"Come on in and see for yourself. I also have a gift for you. To claim the gift, you must enter." Dr. Kayle was quite effective at persuading everyone, even Reynard. With great doubts, Reynard finally entered the car.
Without anyone noticing, the car then drove out from the police station. Reynard had previously been wanted as one of the most important wanted men in the city. However, things have now abruptly and significantly changed. He can now travel anywhere without being observed by authorities.
"Drink a little, you look tense." Reynard was given a drink by Dr. Kayle to help him feel a little more at ease. Reynard was still hesitant to speak with the mysterious scientist, though. Everything still feels like a dream. Reynard's life appeared to be gone, but fate had different plans for him right away.
"Okay if you choose not to. I suppose we'll simply get to the point now." Dr. Reynard took out an envelope filled with cash and placed it near Reynard. Reynard briefly glanced at the envelope; suddenly his head was spinning from lack of words. Everything happened so quickly. He needed time for his thoughts to process everything.
"Who is the money for?" he asked.
"I am aware that your pals are homeless. They don't have to commit crimes forever either. Like you, they ought to have happier lives. I have therefore created a great space for them. They'll be provided with a respectable place to live and work. Give them this; it contains everything they require," Dr. Kayle explained.
Reynard didn't want to speak at all during the journey. He thought if Dr. Kayle was really nice to him. People can not be good without other intentions behind it. That kind of person was one that Reynard was familiar with. He was in no mood to take any chances just now.
The car they were riding in made a turn toward the port. The car halted close to the abandoned building where Reynard usually met his buddies. Reynard received the envelope from Dr. Kayle. He then gave Reynard a confident gaze. No matter what, the man will get his way.
"Meet your buddies and help them leave the city by giving them money. After that, direct them to the location indicated on this envelope. Say that Dr. Kayle sent them to work there. Later, you can cooperate with me on research. We'll see. Do you have any additional queries?" Dr. Kayle explained.
"No." Reynard answered briefly and slowly. He sluggishly took the envelope and exited the car. He traveled there on foot in an effort to locate his companions. He hadn't been back here in a few days. Too bad this was his last visit before Dr. Kayle took him somewhere.
"Guys!" Reynard called his friends. Unexpectedly, apparently they all went into hiding because of the arrival of a foreigner's car near the location. They ran off and each gave Reynard a hug. Following his arrest a few days prior, they were all concerned for Reynard's safety. As soon as they saw that the group leader had returned safely, they could all exhale with peace.
"Listen to me. There isn't much time left. I have some things to say to you. We can no longer live in this city without fear. You all need to leave this town right away. I've got money and a contact details." Reynard assured them, "You just need to go there and live your life."
"Then? Reynard, how about you? None of us want to leave without you, "said a friend of Reynard's.
"You have to listen to me. We can only survive in this way. You can continue to be together. I had to pay back the person who helped me get out of jail. I'll get back to you right away; I swear it won't take long. At least I know where to look for you guys, okay?"
With a little explanation, Reynard's friends finally agreed to follow his request. Meanwhile on the other side of the place, Dr. Kayle silently watched the incident from distance.
"Very touching. What a tragedy for those youngsters."
