Morning in Hogwarts

The next morning, I woke up early feeling refreshed. Hogwarts looks marvelous outside the window. I decided to jog and explore some of the areas. So I freshen up and went down the stairs to the common room. Several seniors with Percy were already awake and were heading towards the Great hall. I followed them while making small pep talks with them.

"How is life in Hogwarts." I asked Percy.

"It's great, you only have to focus on studies and magic. If you have time today, I recommend you to check out the library"

"What does one do except for studies and magic"

"You can visit Hogsmead on weekends but that is only for third years and above. You should join some clubs that will help you relieve of boredom."

"There are clubs in Hogwarts" I exclaimed.

"Yes, there are more than you can count, I am a member of the dueling club and study club. If you are interested you could join us, I will put in a good word for you. Though I should warn you, study club is full of Ravenclaw students" He said.

We reached Great hall and he got surrounded by his friends so I looked for someone I know and found Hermione sitting alone while revising the transfiguration.

"You should give it a rest Hermione, It's better to enjoy on our first day and focus on making friends." I told her while snatching away the book from her hands. "Now focus on breakfast"

I sat at the table and suddenly sandwich and coffee popped in front of me. I mentally thanked Elves that it was not pumpkin juice, I hate that stuff. Helping myself with two large sandwiches with a great cup of coffee, I was soon joined by Neville and Seamus.

"Good Morning Neville, others are still sleeping?" I asked.

"Yes, they were not even waking up when I shook them." He replied. I wanted to wake Harry and Ron before but I left them alone, I wanted to see their reactions at transfiguration lessons.

Soon, Professor McGonagall soon came and gave everyone their respective year time tables. I looked at mine which shows Transfiguration at 8 so I went back to dorms with Neville and Hermione to collect our books before heading to transfiguration.

"We should have brought our books with us" Hermione replied while walking up the stairway panting.

"Need some help? I can bring your books to you" I asked.

"Boys cannot go to girls dormitories, remember!"

"Oh yeah, I forgot" I replied while climbing the last stretch of stairs.

Soon we were back and dormitories where I can hear Ron snoozing in his bed, while harry's whole blanket was on the floor.

"Should we wake them up?" Neville asked while looking at them.

"Just let them be they are enjoying their sleep," I replied while pointing at Ron who had his thumb in his mouth, and Harry who just curled up more in his bed from all the noises we were making.

"Let's get going, I have a hunch it's not going to be easy finding our class" I said while I noticed a sleeping figure right next to Ron.

'Peter Pettigrew' I thought while looking at the small rat in the bed. I need to do something because I don't like sleeping in the same room as a fully grown adult male in form of a rat.

I will not do anything to him yet but I will make his life as miserable as I can. I walked out of the dormitory and met Hermione in the common room. Before we tagged along seniours to reach Great Hall but now that we are looking for a way to classes, we found out how massive Hogwarts is.

There were a hundred and forty-two staircases at Hogwarts. Wide, sweeping ones, narrow, rickety ones, some with a vanishing step halfway up that you had to remember to jump. Then there were doors that wouldn't open unless you asked politely, or tickled them in exactly the right place, and doors that weren't really doors at all, but solid walls just pretending. It was also very hard to remember where anything was because it all seemed to move around a lot. Even the people in the portraits kept visiting each other so there was no way to mark any location.

I tried asking Ghost but they didn't help either. We looked like lost lambs in the corridors so some seniors kindly pointed us the way. But I am sure that twins just made us more lost than we were before. Peeves keep popping out from different walls trying to scare us, sometimes hiding in the suit of armor and rattle it whenever we came by.

It was annoying but we were able to find Transfiguration class before it started. I looked around and there were only some of us who made it there. We sat down in the front row and took out our books. I looked at the board behind the podium to find " Please read Chapter 1 of the coursebook till the start of class" written on it. Soon I found a cat sitting on the top of the table of the podium.

'That must be Professor McGonagall in her cat form' I thought while looking curiously at the cat. At first, one could not find any difference between her and household cats but soon I was able to spot square spectacles markings around the eyes of the cat.

Soon class starts to be filled with students as their house Prefects lead them to the classroom. We all settled down and started reading our books. No one wants to get on the bad side of the professor on the first day of class.

I looked around and was unable to locate Harry or Ron in the class.'Guess there will be show to watch' I thought.

Soon it was 8 and there was still no sign of professor changing her form to teach us. Soon we heard Huffs coming down the corridor and Harry and Ron came inside the class.
