Turns out that his reincarnation wasn't as great as it had first seemed.

He had been reincarnated as a devil, luckily, but, unlike the typical WN protagonist, he had been born as a low-ranking devil child, the rock bottom of devil society.

When Lucifer made the Devil race, he created the 72 Pillars of nobility, and created many normal devils with no special bloodlines, to serve as the cannon fodder subjects to his kingdom.

Coincidentally, he was reborn as one of these low-ranking children. Even worse, he was an orphan, worse than that was that he had no name, it s not because he forgot, it was because his original parents died before he was old enough to remember his name and the orphanage had no care for a low borne devil, so they just took him in for taxes and left him to his own devices in the orphanage.

If there was one redeeming quality out of all of this, it was that since he had no background, he also had no records of any kind kept of him aside from the orphanage, which admittedly was not much.

He was currently in the backyard of the orphanage lying on the ground resting near an artificially placed tree bought by the owner of the orphanage, contemplating his new life.

Having developed an understanding of his current situation he opened his system, which came as a part of the template he was granted.

Ironically, his cheat was pretty simple and provided nothing more than the status of his assimilated target. Luckily as a devil, even if a weak low borne devil, he is still a higher race than a weak human, especially Noir at the beginning of the series.

'By the looks of it, I should be able to fully integrate his abilities as my own in around a day or two." The boy thought.

Having just awoken in his new body, the boy wasn't feeling tired; in fact, he felt pretty refreshed since even if he is a devil he is just an 11-year-old devil, while Noir was a level 20 16-year-old teenager.

'Tch, I don't really feel tired but even if there is no sun in the underworld, there is still a sleeping cycle for devils, so I should head back to sleep with the other kids before anyone finds me still awake at the bedtime.' He thought instead of voicing his thoughts out loud since that would be plain stupid.

Quickly making it back to his bunk bed he forced himself to sleep.

-Scene Change-

While sleeping, he was dreaming of his past life.

While he could consider himself a normal person, his life was chaos, which contributed to the choices he made as an adult and culminated in his failure in life.

Shortly after waking up the next day, he processed his dream and the actions of his past life.

'In my previous life, I had my whole family but were anything but a family.'

'My father was a drunkard, he usually kept himself under control, but because of his friends he started doing drugs every now and then alongside smoking and drinking.'

'While he never hit my older sister and I, my mother was the one usually bearing the full brunt of his actions.'

'My father was a decent man when sober, but he was also very selfish, he considered himself still young at the age of 40, and despite not saying it, having kids at an early age ruined his youth, so he kept the mentality of a young man all the way to his middle ages.'

'Because of that, he hated having to take care of his family, yet still did the bare minimum to keep us alive and well, aside from providing for us financially, he barely spent time with us as both a father and husband.'

'I pretty much grew up without a father and missed out on many aspects of life which a father should have taught, which was one of the many factors that led to me running to Anime/manga to escape reality. '

'Eventually he started cheating on my mother, which made her attempt suicide 3 times in the span of 5 years, which for the me of the time, around 8-10 grade me, was pretty traumatic.'

'I remember one time I even threatened to shoot him for it, haha good times I guess…'

'My mom wasn't innocent either, coming from a similar background to my father, her parents, my grandparents, were divorced (my grandma cheated), and she had an unhealthy obsession with the concept of a family'

'This led to both me and my sister having to be forced into awkward family moments which neither us nor my father enjoyed, all because she wanted to keep the happy image of a family in her head. I was forced to skip school activities and other things because I had to hang out with family. For example, ever since elementary I was not allowed to play sports or visit friends because family was more important, or because they had no time to deal with those things.''

'Admittedly, I am not innocent either, because of that environment I not only shut myself off from the world, I was also pretty spoiled and refused to go out of my comfort zone, unlike my sister who grew up to be an excellent woman.'

'Eventually, because of their chaotic relationship, of my mother sacrificing even her kids for a fake family, and my father who, despite being a middle aged man, still had the mentality of a college frat kid, both ended up dying in an accident, leaving behind 2 young adults, one who had to harden under that environment, and one who broke down from that environment.'

'After that, life was not easy on me. I took random low wage jobs and got just the minimum for food and helping out my sister with expenses.'

'Eventually she found herself a man, and I deciding to find meaning to my life decided to move out and head to college… it did not go well.'

'I was a decently smart kid since elementary school, but I was never able to apply myself to anything because of my circumstances, so I was never able to land any jobs, even when I studied in medical field jobs such as EKG and nursing.'

'Even until my death, I was a loser, while my sister made herself a happy family, I was still a virgin, alone, and sometimes even homeless, I stubbornly hung to my pride and never asked my sister for any help eventually one day I just died.'

'One of my biggest dreams was to have a big family and actually live comfortably with a wife and kids'

'Of course, being a Man of Culture, I did go through that phase of wanting a harem, and now that I am in DxD, I am pulling out all stops, I am getting myself a Harem of Epic Proportions, a Harem Lord!' he exclaimed with conviction burning in his eyes.

'I am sick and tired of being pushed around by everyone, I am tired of being alone, worst of all, I am tired of being a virgin, fuck rules if I am to be the Harem Lord, then naturally I am willing to do anything to get a woman.' He reaffirmed.

'First step, I need a name, an Identity, … and a plan.' He thought.

"…. Meelis…. Zagan… yeah, that'll do." Meelis mused.
