Little Girl and Her Maid

Liu Xiaolan accepted the 200 copper coins from the middle aged woman and thanked her.

She picked out 2 small buckets with chestnuts and passed them over, "Here you go, sister. Please come again in the future if you want to eat more chestnuts."

The woman accepted them and smiled. "Thank you, little girl. I'll come buy some more the next time I will be coming to this area…"

Liu Xiaolan once again thanked her before sending her off.

Although she looked calm, inside herself she was ecstatic. As they say, the first sale is the hardest one to do. After you can successfully get your first customer, others should start coming to their shop as well pretty soon.

Liu Xiaolan turned her attention towards Mu Yuchen and said, "See? Little fool, that's how you bring customers in…"

Mu Yuchen looked at her and sighed. What does she expect him to do? Pretend to be cute and try to bring some customers?

Wouldn't they all be scared away after seeing a grown man pretending to be a child? Or even worse, the people who would actually follow him to their store, wouldn't they all be perverts?

Although he couldn't pretend to be a child, Mu Yuchen still learned a little from Liu Xiaolan's behaviour and slowly walked towards a young lady with a child.

He squatted down near the small girl and asked, "Little kid, would you like to try some chestnuts?"

The young lady quickly took her girl's hand and said, "Little lady, be careful."

It would seem that the young lady was afraid that Mu Yuchen would hurt her little lady or perhaps try to kidnap her. Although Mu Yuchen's way of coming forward without even introducing himself wasn't too good, but it seems that the little lady was interested.

"Handsome uncle, are chestnuts tasty?" The little girl asked.

Mu Yuchen tried to put the most gentle smile on his face that he could come up with before saying, "Little girl, our chestnuts were mady by my lady, all have great taste."

Even though the little girl's maid wasn't too keen on moving to their stall, her small master's orders are still something she needs to consider. Soon, the two of them followed Mu Yuchen and came towards Liu Xiaolan standing behind their stall.

Liu Xiaolan took a small bucket with chestnuts and let the small girl try a few. "Here, little girl, try a few. Don't they taste good? You can even carry them by yourself…"

The little girl chewed on a chestnuts and was satisfied with their taste. Although they might not be a 5 star dish, they were still a nice snack compared to what other stalls nearby could offer.

"Their taste is really good…" The little girl said with stars in her eyes. She looked at Mu Yuchen and said, "Handsome uncle, I want 5 buckets of chestnuts!"

The smile on Liu Xiaolan's face was growing. 5 buckets sold at once, seems like her little fool really did a good job this time.

"The price is 100 copper coins per bucket, so you would need to pay a total of 500 copper coins, alright, little girl?" Liu Xiaolan said with a soft voice.

The girl didn't answer and turned her attention towards her maid. After all, as a kid where would she walk around carrying money? If she wants something, it's the job of her servant to get it for her.

The maid however didn't have a good look on her face. She looked towards Liu Xiaolan and Mu Yuchen as if they were a pair of scammers, before trying to change her young lady's idea. "Little lady, don't be fooled by them. Such a small amount of chestnuts and they want so much money? Aren't they trying to steal money?"

Mu Yuchen didn't like the way she looked at Liu Xiaolan and stood in front of her. "What do you mean steal money? My lady said a good price, after all the wooden bucket and salt cost money as well. Do you expect to get it for free?"

The maid was getting angry, but before she could answer Mu Yuchen, her little lady looked at her with a frown. Don't say that her little lady is just a kid, but if she makes trouble and makes a report on her to master, wouldn't she be finished?

"My little lady, even if the price is alright, let's just buy a single bucket? Why do we need to buy so much at once?" Well, just make the amount smaller. This way she can try to cover the whole situation up once they go back.

"No, I need 5 buckets! I want to give everyone a bucket to eat…" The little girl said with tears in her eyes. After all, she wasn't used to sharing her own things with other, but still wanted her parents and 2 big brothers to try the tasty chestnuts…

The maid saw the tears on her little lady's face and quickly agreed with her. With no other choice, she took out 500 copper coins and gave them to Liu Xiaolan while saying, "Here, 500 copper coins. Give me 5 buckets of chestnuts."

Liu Xiaolan was a little disgusted with the girl in front of her and didn't really want to sell anything to her, but looking at the tearful little girl she decided to let it go this time. She squatted down and took out 5 buckets full of chestnuts.
