This was the worst night I had since I came to this world, for the first time I realized my vulnerability. What was the use of having the book of knowledge, being wiser and having much more knowledge than the people around me, to survive in this forest? Of absolutely nothing.
All this time I had tried to adapt as best as possible to the situation and find a way to ensure my survival, to a certain extent I felt superior to the people around me due to my knowledge and I did not realize that they had achieved something that for me it was impossible. Survive and prosper in this world.
However, this was not the time to regret my past actions. So, I tried to find the safest place in the forest to spend the night. A place that did not really exist. I could only lean against a large tree in the hope that nothing falls on my head and be very attentive to my surroundings.
The silence of the night and the solitude in which I found myself gave me time to meditate on what curse I was facing. This forest was considered a prison, so I was definitely going to meet more people, or well, they can already be considered animals who had lost their minds. What had brought them to that state? Spending too much time as animals? I don't really think so, if it were like that, I would never have been able to return to my human form after awakening in the forest.
There must be an additional detail that generates that they all are in that state….
Ah!
Of course! As I did not think before. Hunger is the cause of everything ...
Most of the "humans" that I have seen change shape to a carnivorous animal and therefore, in this forest that is full of these criminals, it has a large proportion of carnivores and a small percentage of herbivores. Which creates a food shortage.
Hunger or rather a food is the key point of this whole system. I clearly remember that when I first woke up in this world, in the first forest I was very hungry, and by refusing to hunt, I lost control of my body for a moment and my instinct took over.
The shortage of food generates hunger, and hunger awakens the attempts that seek to satisfy their needs in other beings regardless of whether they are human or not. This leads to sanity gradually being lost, until you reach a point where you only allow yourself to be carried away by your instincts.
