Basketball and a Misunderstanding

Daniel was no longer focused on basketball because he knew that a fight with a girl was one you could not win. He gave Emma one hundred percent of his attention in order not to make a single mistake. If he said something that displeased Emma, he knew that was the end.

"What do you mean?" And it only took him one sentence to f*ck up.

"The f*ck do you mean 'what do I mean'!"

He quickly started to process all the past events of today in order to find out what she meant. After only a few seconds of thinking, he finally figured it out.

"Well, I said it because it was the only right answer." 'To that math problem.'

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE ONLY RIGHT ANSWER!!!" 'You could have said no to being my boyfriend.'

"No, no... I'm pretty sure that was the only right answer." 'To that math problem.'

At this point, Emma's face turned beet red. She looked off to the side and said, "Fine then..." 'You can be my boyfriend.'

"Great! If you didn't accept I still wouldn't have changed my answer though." 'Because I was obviously right.'

Emma's face turned even redder than before. The bell then rang and Emma entered the classroom, closely followed by Daniel who had a sinister smile on his face. 'Nothing better than being right!'

As soon as Emma sat down, all the girls in the class surrounded her and started asking her questions while all the guys shot armor-piercing glazes at Daniel.

...

Class ended and as usual, all the students packed their bags and left the classroom. However, today was slightly unusual since nobody left the school grounds. Instead, they all gathered around the basketball court behind the schools main building.

Just as agreed, both Daniel and Percy arrived at the court after classes. However, as shocking as it may seem, Daniel managed to be five minutes late. Percy stood at the three-point line and said, "If I score, then it's my ball, kay?" His statement was greeted with boo's and cusses all around. They knew this was unfair since he had a 70% three-pointer accuracy. Daniel, however, didn't give a shit and said, "Sure." The surrounding students that heard his statement froze in silence, they didn't know whether he was stupid, or just that confident that he would win.

Percy shot and as expected scored. The ball was his and the match started. Percy started his dribble. He ran towards Daniel's right side then with a fabulous faint switched to the left. His movement was so fast, it was barely visible to the naked eye. The whole crowed cheered. 'Finally realizing my brilliance ha?' Percy thought to himself. Now under the net, with Daniel a few meters away, Percy jumped, fingers reaching the rim and fell back down to the ground. 'WHAT! Where is the ball' Although Percy only thought this, the whole crowd could tell what he was thinking based on his shocked expression.

Daniel stood on the three-point line. Stood up on his toes to look even taller, then... BOOM. The explosive speed Daniel had was so insanely powerful some thought it was a terrorist bombing, while others enjoyed the breeze it created. It only took a fraction of a second for Daniel to reach the net. He jumped and dunked the ball with two hands held firm on the rim. "My point, shall we keep going?"

Percy stood frozen looking at the site of Daniel handing from the hoop. A small tear came down from his eye along with the tears of another body part. Everyone who saw what just happened stood frozen in disbelief, then soon realized that this man was by far the best match for Emma. The members from the karate club that were thinking about challenging him as well gave up on the idea immediately and left. When everyone else saw the scared Percy that pissed his pants they all broke into laughter. It was obvious to everyone there that this was the end of the game.

Just as Daniel started to walk towards Emma a small, timid looking boy approached him. His posture was bad, he wore glasses and smelt like he spent the last month locked in a small room. "You may be good at sports, but I bet your brain is probably made of muscle as well. How about you and I play a game of chess?"
