The underworld.
A place where supernatural society dominates the landscape. Its area resembles one-third of the earth's surface, with the majority consisting of vast, open plains.
One of the prominent territories there was the territory of the ruler of Phenex, specifically the territory ruled by the Marquis of Phenex. It was here that a grand engagement party was held hosted by their third son, the Raiser Phenex.
Rias, the rightful heir of the Gremory clan, stood in the center of the crowd with a happy face that tried to mask her anxiety. She realized that this moment was the moment of her despair. Once this party ended, she would lose her freedom and become Raiser's bride forever.
A sense of wretchedness came over her heart. She thought of all the promises she had made to her Peerage, her friends. What is power if there is only emptiness in it? Right now Rias was dangling on the edge of the cliff and there was no one be it her family or friends to grab her hand.
However, in her moment of despair, no one would have guessed that someone was reaching for her hand at the edge of the cliff.
…
"Ladies and gentlemen! Thank you for coming to my engagement ceremony!" Raiser stood proudly on the stage, his voice echoing throughout the room filled with lavishly dressed guests. His outfit was striking, his suit and pants were red in color that reflected his pride, while Rias wore a charming bridal outfit.
The look in his eyes was full of pride and ambition as he looked around, wanting to show how beautiful his fiancée was to all the devil clan pillar representatives present.
During Raiser's endless speech praising himself, one person stood alone in the corner with a glass of grape juice in her hand. The woman had beautiful flowing pink hair, her face was beautiful and charming, making anyone who looked at her unable to help but focus on her. However, what prevented anyone from approaching such a beautiful woman was that she was Lily. Everyone knew who she was, the woman who became the queen of the half-demon men best known to the new generation, and most people did not want to make trouble with her. Eugene Lucifuge.
"Haah..." Lily sighed, slightly glancing at the party crowd and Raiser who was making a speech on the stage, everything seemed boring to the woman.
As she fiddled with the wine in her glass, a man with striding steps walked up to her. As Lily's eyes glanced at the man, his figure was about 190 cm tall, his body stocky and muscular. A handsome young man with black hair and violet eyes. He was very tall and muscular because of the extreme training he did. Sairaorg Bael.
"It's rare to see you without Eugene, Lily," Sairaorg said, his voice stopping the music and conversation around them for a moment. He waved his hand in a friendly greeting.
Lily immediately corrected her posture, made sure that her demeanor was in line with decorum, and slightly bowed in respect to the man in front of her. Despite dealing with the imposing presence of Sairaorg, her graceful face did not lose its elegance.
"Yes, long time no see, Sairarog-sama," she said politely, her voice soft yet firm.
"Ahahaha~... I told you, don't be so formal with me!" exclaimed Sairaorg in a loud voice, the posture of his hands on his waist adding a strong impression to his presence. "Even Eugene wouldn't hesitate to use a nickname like Sai!!!"
"I wish I could, Sairarog-sama, but if I do, it sounds like I'm patronizing you," Lily replied in a manner that remained polite yet firm. The look in her eyes showed respect, but also maintained a distance appropriate to their social status.
"Hmm..." Sairaorg replied thoughtfully, a hand moving to his chin and gently stroking it, giving the impression of deep thought. "Is that so? Whatever..." He said in a nonchalant tone, but there was a slight hesitation in his expression. Then he looked at Lily with a sharp stare. "By the way, I don't see Eugene? Where is he?" she asked, her voice full of curiosity.
Lily was taken aback by the question, but quickly recovered from her surprise. With a calm and confident demeanour, she replied, "My king is in Okinawa on a mission given by Grayfia-sama," explaining the situation clearly and straightforwardly.
"Is that so? Hmm, I guess He's not enjoying this party. Although He was the one who wanted to see Rias suffer a bit, because what we did in the past made his most angry with Rias," Sairaorg said in a tone that sounded thoughtful.
"Hmm." Lily nodded slowly, her expression showing that she was thinking the same thing. "Yes, I agree with you, Sairaorg-sama," she added, her voice soft but full of reassurance. Then both of their gazes turned to the crowd in the hall, watching the goings on around them.
"Although I think that way, there is one thing that worries me about my king," Lily said, her voice distracting Sairaorg.
"Hm?" The heir to the Bael clan glanced at him curiously. "What is it?"
"Although it seems that he is upset with Rias, but they have been friends for longer than I have known Eugene. So, I'm sure that despite his apparent annoyance, my king still cares about him..." explained Lily sensibly, her eyes radiating deep concern.
"Hoo..." Sairaorg nodded in understanding, realising that the complexity of Rias and Eugene's relationship made the situation even more complicated. The Bael Clan heir pondered for a long time, his eyes focused on the main character of the event, Rias. The expression on his face was one of deep thought. "Though I pity my cousin, a promise is a promise," he murmured with a mysterious smile, suggesting a deep understanding of the intertwining of tradition and responsibility.
Hearing this, Lily turned her head with a puzzled expression, trying to digest the meaning of Sairaorg's words. Realising this, Sairaorg replied with a calm expression, giving the impression that he was not bothered by her own feelings.
"I think I should go back, also thank you for coming to my cousin Lily's engagement ceremony. Although I would have liked Eugene to come, but it's all right. Give him my regards," Sairaorg said politely, but also firmly. He showed his gratitude to Lily.
"So do I, Sairaorg-sama," the Eugene queen replied in an equally polite and respectful manner.
"Hahaha~ Just enjoy the party," said the man who was the heir to the Bael clan as he turned his back and waved as he walked away.
After Sairaorg left, the beautiful woman again found herself alone in the bustling party crowd. However, that state only lasted a moment, as she had just found her friend, Akeno, and immediately approached her with a warm smile on her face.
However, the excitement was cut short when chaos arrived. The party came to a halt when someone barged in and beat up the guard standing in front of the hall's entrance gate.
"Hey, stop him!" shouted one of them who was trying to block the attack.
"Damn, where did this bar-bar guy come in from!" hissed a startled guard.
"Wait, don't kick that way!" cried the others, trying to control the increasingly chaotic situation.
Everyone's focus was on the foreign intruder who dared to enter from the front gate. It seemed that all eyes were watching curiously the figure of the man, some of them looked annoyed, especially Raiser, while others looked happy, especially Rias and her friends.
The intruder standing in the center of the party hall was a man who was currently a hot topic among the supernatural community. He was the owner of the Boosted Gear, one of the 12 Longinus-class Sacred Gear in the world, an artifact that was home to the Red Dragon Emperor, Ddraig.
Standing proudly, he displayed the Dragon Arms Gauntlet, which was the physical form of his Sacred Gear. Dressed in Kuoh academy clothes, his lanky body had short, spiky brown hair, with two short strands of hair at the back of his head, and light brown eyes that exuded firmness. Her courage to single-handedly challenge the engagement with her king, Rias, left everyone dumbfounded.
"Rias Gremory is mine!!! Let her go, you fucking roasted chicken!" he exclaimed in a voice full of courage and anger, shaking the atmosphere in the hall abruptly.
