Are We Ready Gents

I open my eyes slowly as I wake up. I watch as sexy legs presented before my eyes. My eyes follow them up, and to my disappointment, a skirt stops me from going all the way, but I work my way upwards until I see a beautiful face. I know I have seen it before. Then I remember, it's her, the woman from the restaurant. Why would she be here? It must be a dream. Then she speaks;

"Detective Marks, welcome to L.A. Today is your first day"

I'm trying to figure out what's going on. I'm so confused.

She smiles and says;

"I guess you are wondering who I am? I am Madison McKenna, the district attorney"

She turns to the man sitting at the desk and then says;

"Officer, you can unlock the cell now"

The officer opens and says;

"Maybe he should stay behind bars for what he did"

I look at the officer while he's walking away and say;

"What is the problem with this department?"

"It's maybe because you messed up their sting operation? Not that you could've known about it. I read the statement about what occurred and you were just at the right place, at the wrong time. But don't worry, they'll get over it. Please follow me."

While we are walking down the corridor into the main precinct, I look at her curiously and say;

"You say sting operation?"

"Yes, a sting operation. Since the 23's took out the gang that lived in your new home. But they were interrupted by the police that showed up. So, we set up a tracker in the cocaine to follow them and to arrest them, but you..."

I interrupt her and say;

"...and then I took the drugs, I see. No wonder they feel pissed off"

"Although I must say good work on finding the drugs Detective. We must sit down some time and tell me how you found them"

As we're walking through the precinct, I see a lot of people moving around. Police talking to one another calls being answered. This place is busy. I'm still amazed at everything, this station and how is Madison the district attorney? I cannot believe that I know her name now and that I'm talking to her. I'm completely blown away. Madison turns and looks at me and says;

"Keep up, Detective"

I am pulled back into reality and decide to just focus on the job right now. That's what's important for now anyway. I follow her until we get to a room filled with Officers. It seems they are waiting for us to arrive. Madison stops, looks at me, and says;

"Take a seat, Detective. We are about to start"

As I sit down looking at everyone in the room, the Captain walks in and says;

"Good morning, everyone. It's a new day so let's get started. You must all be wondering why the district attorney is here today? I will leave it to her to explain why"

Madison walks up and stands next to the Captain. She starts speaking;

"As you are all are aware, we had a girl murdered a few days ago and very brutally. Another one was discovered a few minutes ago. Our officers are on their way to secure the scene. I'm here because we have a new Detective that is joining the team. Please, stand up and introduce yourself to everyone, Detective."

I stand up confidently and say;

"Good morning all, my name is Tom Marks. Let me just say I'm sorry for screwing up the sting operation, wasn't my intent."

The Captain steps up and says;

"There will be a time and place for getting to know one another, but not now. We have a crime scene to get to, let's move people. Detective Marks, you can drive with us for now until your partner has been assigned."

All the Officers walk past me. Many of them greet me as they walk past and welcome me to the team. The Captain hands me a bag. I look at it and say;

"What's this Captain"

He looks at me and says;

"Your personal belongings? That was taken from you a few hours ago. I'll just get your gun as well, wait here"

Everyone has left, it's only me and Madison in the room. She's on a call with someone. They are talking about the murder that happened this morning. I cannot stop my eyes from gazing at her beauty, she seems to hypnotize me when I only but glance at her.

Her dark brown hair is in a ponytail, badge on the front right of her hip, gun on her left. She has a white top on with a grey skirt. She knows how to dress. I am sure that no one messes with her. She is after all the district attorney. I know that she can put me away...anytime. The Captain walks in and hands me my gun back then says;

"Hey Detective, it's not polite to stare! Get it together"

Madison gives me a glance as if she heard what the Captain said, but she ignores it and continues with her call. I check my gun's status, put the holster on my side, and secure my firearm in the holster. I say to the Captain,

"I wasn't staring...I was listening to her conversation about the..."

The Captain interrupts me and says;

"Oh, so, listening in on a district attorney's conversation makes it better?"

I just stand stunned as I don't know what to say in response. Madison finishes her call, gets her bag, and walks to us. She looks at the both of us and asks;

"Are we ready gents?"

The Captain nods and says;

"Yeah! Let's go!"

As we're driving to the scene, Captain Tylor and Madison are talking about the murders. The Captain looks in this mirror to me staring out the window and asks me;

"Everything okay there in the back there, Detective?"

I look at him in the mirror and say;

"All is good, my thoughts are just going crazy about everything."

Madison turns to look at me, smiles and says;

"It's just that everything is new, it will wear off. But I need your head in the game when we arrive, Detective? This is the second murder in a few days. It does seem that they are related and we need to find the killer before he strikes again."

"Don't worry about me, I'll be five by five and ready to go. Captain, may I ask a favor quick while we are still on our way?"

The Captain looks in his mirror and says;

"Sure, what's up?"

I gather my confidence and sit up closer to him and ask;

"Do you know of a gadget store on the way?"
