Chapter 33: Rescuing Cassandra!

Azrael Herrington rushed towards the limp body of Cassandra Dean as it lay sprawled on the ground.

"She is losing consciousness, look at her..." Azrael added as he bent down and put a hand underneath her knees and another underneath her back.

He lifted her easily despite her weight. She looked busty, with a body weight of 78kg, which should pose some problems for Azrael, but surprisingly he lifted her quite easily, so much so that even Bianca Zul's apparition was surprised by his strength. 'Has his wolf transformation started?' She thought while drifting through the wind.

Azrael got up with Cassandra in his arms and started running toward the school's infirmary. It was a makeshift space with first-aid kits and some simple medical supplies to help with sudden and unexpected incidences such as the one Cassandra is currently experiencing before the patient is taken for further treatment in a bigger and certified hospital.

The way Azrael picked her up and rushed out with Cassandra in his arms sparked a reaction among the students.

Someone started a rumor and the rest were gossiping in turn.

"Azrael and Cassandra are probably secretly dating, you could see it in the way he carried her, maybe that's why they tend to act like strangers when others are around...." Someone from the crowd spoke up.

"I think that is true, that's probably why the Proprietor let off Azrael in the morning because he knows that his daughter is dating the boy..." Another person joined

"But if he loved his daughter so much, why is he punishing her so harshly?" Another person asked.

"Technically speaking, he isn't punishing her personally, he asked the Principal to do the dirty work, mostly because he knew he couldn't stand to punish his daughter and he was also trying to be fair..." Someone answered.

As the conspiracy theories and presumptuous discussions continued, Azrael got to the infirmary and rushed inside with Cassandra in his arms.

As soon as the attending nurses got wind of what was happening, they acted quickly and flooded her lungs with oxygen to even her breathing. They also tried to give her sedatives to stabilize her and keep her calm.

As soon as Azrael saw that they had started to attend to her, he turned and left to call on her supposed friends. A short while later her friends arrived to check on her, however, they didn't stay for long, they also left her a while later.

in the staff building...

Alex Bayly was studying for her next class when she suddenly overheard a discussion.

"So, Azrael Herrington is dating the proprietor's daughter? No wonder he let him go this morning on the assembly ground!"

"Silly me, I almost thought he had feelings for Miss Alex Judging by the way he defended her, I almost felt jealous."

"Wow, this guy keeps giving us interesting stuff, imagine missing school on a day like this... So much drama..."

As the teachers were discussing, Alex felt a pang in her heart. She didn't understand why.

It was like her heart literally skipped a beat from fear. 'Could this be true? Azrael told me that I was his soul mate, or has he found another...'

As she thought about that, she realized she was truly scared to lose him, but she tried to focus on her work while fighting the thoughts that kept haunting her.

At the infirmary...

When the nurses had stabilized Cassandra, they now needed a student to accompany Cassandra on her way, while the school ambulance takes her to the hospital.

Her friends were nowhere to be seen, and the Proprietor her father wasn't picking up calls or responding to the fact that his daughter needed medical attention. This was a given because he was an imposter anyway.

The nurses were still feeling perplexed about not getting anyone to call when one of them suddenly raised a suggestion. "What of the boy that brought her in, he should be able to accompany her to the hospital right?"

"Good thinking..." The other nurses agreed.

After reaching that agreement, a nurse was sent to fetch Azrael Herrington. He was easy to describe and locate because of the early morning drama on the assembly ground.

The nurse that was sent was able to locate his class easily, and after asking a few questions she entered. She found him tapping on his desk while looking at the pictures in a textbook.

"Azrael Herrington?" The nurse called out.

"Yes ma'am?" He responded with a furrowed brow.

The nurse went closer to him and started to speak.

"We need you to do us a favor. Cassandra needs to be taken to the hospital, but we need a friend to follow her there. We couldn't get in touch with her female friends and her father isn't responding either, we decided to ask you to do us a favor and follow her instead because time is of the essence." The nurse completed with an expectant gaze.

Azrael looked surprised as he looked at the nurse in confusion and curiosity. 'Why would she ask me to do that? I'm not even her friend. I guess it couldn't hurt to help, her life is on the line. She might be a spoilt child that doesn't mean she deserves to die...'

As Azrael thought about it, he decided to help. He looked at the nurse solemnly as he got up from his seat. "Alright, I'll help..."

"Thank you," The Nurse said as she also got up and led him to the infirmary.

As soon as Azrael got out of the class, a new wave of murmurs started.

"Pay up, you owe me 100 dollars on our bet. You see, he is in a relationship with her, and you just got your proof." Garfield Burns said to Nolan Nunez.

Jude Greystone who decided to attend school on this day also sat quietly contrary to his usual or expected behavior.

'Is Azrael not interested in Alex anymore? If that's the case, then I don't need to keep an eye on him...' Jude Greystone thought as he sat quietly.

He has been ordered by the alpha of the wolf pack in Wolvescamp, Alpha Zuck Danesworth to not hurt Azrael nor touch a single hair on his body, but instead, to monitor him and this was what he was doing, however, this new situation had him confused.

In the staff room, the news of Azrael escorting Cassandra to the hospital has spread.

"I told you they were dating, can you see that I'm correct? He is even going to follow her to the hospital...damn young love.."

"Azrael is so romantic, he even came to rescue her when she was being punished, such a sweet love story.."

As the teachers gossipped, Alex Bayly who was trying to concentrate couldn't take it anymore. She got up and dashed out of the staff room.
