"Absolutely remarkable, you my boy somehow managed to stumble across the Room of Requirement, though apparently there isn't any other way to find the room other than by complete accident." Dumbledore stated enthusiastically from behind his desk as Thane stood in front of him desperately trying to keep the deep sigh building up inside him from slipping out.
"It took me a minute to find even the slightest mention of it in the Library, which is strange because I was almost certain I checked the very spot I found the book in at least three times. But I guess my age is getting to me," Dumbledore laughed heartily and Thane forced himself to laugh along
After Thane had finished explaining his story Professor McGonagall had practically dragged him to the infirmary and didn't leave until Madam Pomfrey had given him a clean bill of health. But even after that Thane had been forced to stay a night in the infirmary just to make sure.
The next day Thane had woken up to Professor McGonagall saying that the Headmaster wanted to see him. So now Thane was stuck in a seemingly never ending conversation as Dumbledore asked him almost every possible question about his experience "stuck" in the Room of Requirements.
"I am awfully sorry that you were isolated for such a long period of time, the entire school was quite worried when your housemates reported you missing. I tried every spell in my repertoire but it seems as if the Room of Requirements is enchanted with some dreadfully powerful anti-scrying charms. There was simply no way to locate you I'm afraid." Dumbledore implored begging Thane for forgiveness without saying the actual words.
"I know Headmaster, I'm just sorry for causing such a panic," Thane replied, his voice sickly sweet but it was worth it as Dumbledore sighed as a tired smile spread across his face, "You're a better man than I was at your age Thane."
---
'Finally some peace and quiet' Thane thought as he walked down the set of stairs from Dumbledore's office only to find Professor McGonagall waiting for him at the bottom steps.
"Ah Thane, how did everything go?" The Professor asked and Thane let out a silent scream as he let the fake easy going smile spread back across his lips, "Everything went well Professor McGonagall, Headmaster Dumbledore just wanted to make sure I was okay and apologize. Though the entire incident wasn't really his fault."
McGonagall smiled as she folded her hands in front of her, "Yes, but I'm sure he feels guilty nonetheless. Now I was thinking that you and I could go to Diagon Alley and do a bit of last minute shopping before the school year starts."
Thane blinked a bit, taken off guard, "Actually…I was hoping to go shopping by myself, I've made a fair bit of coin tutoring people over the school year, more than enough to cover everything I might need. All I need is the list of supplies."
"Oh," McGonagall replied as her smile dipped for a second before she seemingly recovered, "Very well then, let me just get the list and then I'll walk you down to Hgosmead and you can use the FlooNetwork there."
"A…alright," Thane responded defeatedly though he tried to keep it out of his voice as McGonagall smiled at him.

Thane coughed as he stepped out of the fireplace with a flash of green fire and a plume of smoke all while Ingrid let out a soft hiss, "No I don't know why, she was so clingy."
Thane replied as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a few coins that he quickly placed into the hand of a uniformed guard wearing a dark green robe and a flame enigma badge before leaving the large hall filled with several fireplaces organized in rows.
"I'm almost glad to be an orphan, if that's what having a mother's like. The constant nagging and questions. It's like she was trying to make up for lost time," Thane muttered as he stepped into the bustling crowd shuffling down, mostly fathers and mothers dragging their children along for shopping.
Ingrid hissed once more and Thane shook his head by the barest amount, "We can get treats later but first I need to apply for a loan."
A few minutes later Gringotts was in Thane's sight, though he could barely see the front doors with the large crowd gathered in front of the bank. And as Thane drew closer he realized that it wasn't so much a crowd as an angry mob with people shouting and throwing their fists into the air.
"Live from the scene I'm Rita Skeeter with the Daily Prophet and for those of you living under a rock this is the second day of Gringotts being closed off to the public for the first time in history. No one knows what exactly happened to cause this unexpected shift, but for many this incident has them calling for the ministry to interfere and to even confiscate the bank from the Goblins. That's all for now Rita Skeeter signing off."
Thane glanced at a blonde woman reporting in front of a floating camera with a pair of flapping feathered wings. Ignoring the scene Thane moved on and eventually reached the front of the mob to find them standing behind a set of wooden barriers, though it was clear that the true deterrent was the two goblin guards in full suits of gleaming silver armor with swords strapped to their waist.
"You've got to be kidding me," Thane grumbled as he leaned against the barrier and hung his head in defeat, "Why now of all times."
"Well look who it is…I guess you didn't die after all…such a shame."
'Did I commit some cardinal sin in a past life?' Thane lamented as he stood up and slowly turned around only to have to tilt his head down to make eye contact with Malfoly who looked just as shocked at the disparity between them.
"Malfloy if I remember correctly last time we talked I ended up kicking square in the bollocks. So you're either insane thinking that annoying me will result in a different outcome or you're hoping for the same outcome which I find far more concerning." Thane replied his tone even without the slightest bit of heat behind it, though clearly it still had an effect on Draco who glared at Thane.
"Quiet, a lot has changed since then! Just wait until the school year starts, you and the rest of your kind will be sorry that you ever enrolled at Hogwarts!" Draco spat back with a gleam in his eyes that made Thane's eyes narrow in suspicion.
"Draco!" A withering voice slashed through the air before Thane could respond and he looked over to see a tall skinny man storming forward wearing a pitch black robe with long platinum hair and a face that could have been Draco twenty years in the future, "I told you not to leave my side!"
"But father I was-" Draco started to complain only to be silenced by a quick glare from Lucious Malfloy head of the Most Noble House Malfoy who turned to look at Thane with barely disguised disgust, "And who might you be."
Countless lessons on etiquette and proper social etiquette from Thalion flashed through Thane's head, but he threw any thought of treating the duo in front of him with any respect, "No one of any importance, in fact I was just leaving."
Thane then turned around and ducked underneath the barrier in plain view of the armored guards who turned on him hands on the pommels of their swords.
