1 - A whole new world

Kakarot was not pleased.

Whilst he was young, he was not a fool.

His parent's reminder to keep safe had made him cautious.

Why would they ask that of him? He was only being sent to a weak planet with inhabitants maximally reaching a power level of 40.

The main species seemed to have an average power level of 5, though they had access to primitive technology.

No, Kakarot just knew that there had to be something more to this trip, something beyond species eradication.

But no matter.

He was a proud Saiyan warrior and these lesser life forms would fall at his feet.

Or so he thought.

"Stop dodging old man!" Yelled the Saiyan infant.

Not even a few minutes into his invasion of this planet and he already was detected by a formidable warrior.

An old man dressed in a Green qipao and a black crane hat, who had seemingly popped up out of nowhere claiming Kakarot was destined to study the great arts of assassination under him.

As if he needed such cowardly skills, all would fall under his mighty Saiyan fists, even this man. 

Eventually…

"And why should I do that son?" Mocked the insufferable old man.

"So I can hit you!" Kakarot was getting fed up. This planet was supposed to be full of weaklings, so why weren't his attacks working on this seemingly elderly old man?

"Now now Sonny. If you can't hit me it only means you aren't strong enough. I could change that for you, all you have to do is accept me as your master and I can mould you into a great assassin capable of felling even the strongest of men with a single hit." He offered as he swept Kakarot's legs out from underneath him leading him to land flat on his backside.

Losing so easily to the strange earthling was a shock to Kakarot, he'd expected everything to be smooth sailing once he got here. He'd make shelter, hunt some food then systematically eradicate the natives one by one and get stronger along the way.

That didn't seem so likely if warriors like this were so commonplace that they'd find him as soon as he arrived here.

But Kakarot was now interested in the offer to become an assassin, not only would it allow him to carry out his mission but he would be able to return to planet Vegeta a much more capable Saiyan warrior.

He was aware that as a low-class warrior, he had to take any and every opportunity granted to him so that he could become stronger. Only then would he be able to become truly powerful, not limited by his birth.

"Sure old man, I'll be your student. But only so I can complete my mission." Kakarot stated as if he wasn't truly interested in learning from the strange man.

"Oh? And what would that be." He raised his eyebrows as he wiped some dust off of his qipao.

"The extermination of this planet's life forms!" Kakarot puffed out his chest as he stated his grand goal, unaware of how silly he sounded to the veteran martial artist.

"Oh really? Well, it's good for you to aim so high kid. My training should be put to great use then." The man said whilst holding back a laugh, evidently not believing Kakarot's claims.

"So what's your name son?" The man stretched his hand out to Kakarot.

"The name's Kakarot, the great Saiyan warrior!" He said as he took hold of the offered hand to pull himself up.

"Well then Kakarot, you can call me Master Shen. I'll be your teacher in martial arts from now on." The now named Master Shen stated as he began to walk away.

"Follow on now son, we don't have all day." He hollered in the distance.

"Hey wait up!" Kakarot yelled out as he picked up his space pod overhead and chased after the old man, causing quite the spectacle for the veteran martial artist to gawk at.

'This kid's already as strong as an untrained teenager, Haha just you wait Roshi I'll show you just how much of a better teacher I am than you, that old ox might be your strongest student but mine will bring him down to size just to prove how much better I am.' Shen cackled in his head.

"So how's our 'Mighty Saiyan Warriors' training going on little bro?" Mocked a man with a black ponytail.

"Honestly Tao he's beaten all expectations. It's only been a month and he's already gotten used to the basic martial arts katas. We might have to move onto the assassination training earlier than planned." Shen told his brother with a hint of anticipation.

Little Kakarot might be a bit of a wild child and hard to handle but he had taken to his training like a fish to water. 

Now Shen was sure that Kakarot would be the greatest student he had ever taught, for he had already proven to cause trouble for his resident prodigy Tien in their spars.

"Really? That's a bit faster than I had thought, guess that Saiyan blood he's always talking about really does help him out." Tao Laughed finding Kakarot to be the most entertaining out of the bunch of students the crane school had taken on in the last few years.

"Ugh, seriously Tao you shouldn't indulge in his fantasies, they'll only get in the way of his training." Shen moaned at his older brother, not thinking it was a good idea.

"Maybe your training but not mine." He rebutted.

"What do you mean?" Shen asked. Tao was never one to take on students, only deciding to randomly take on entire classes of them at once to show them the heights they had to aspire to reach.

"You know exactly what I mean. It's about time I passed my skills down and became Master Tao eh?" He wiggled his eyebrows at the increasingly annoyed Crane Hermit.

"He's my student Tao. And you're not exactly teacher material either." Shen warned.

"And he'll still be your student, there's nothing wrong with me teaching his a few things outside of your lessons now is there?" Tao calmly explained.

After a short period of thinking it over Shen agreed with Tao and so Kakarot's fate was sealed.
