Injection

Kai watched as Anatsaisa stopped in front of his cell, a happy smile on her face. She stood with her hands behind her back, her eyes gleaming with amusement, she was looking down on him.

Kai the noticed the two guards that were standing behind her, both of them wearing full suits of armour.

One of them was holding a spear, its point looking ominously threatening to Kai, especially since he was chained in a cell of ice, not exactly a place where he assumed he would have human rights.

However, he felt a little confused when he saw that the other guard was holding a strange brown box. That was all they had, no weapon, just the box.

"Why hello Pet, I see that you're doing... well?"

Anastasia managed to successfully hide her disgust and confusion. How the hell was this brat not shivering from the cold? He should have been struggling by now, begging her to free him and let him become her pet again.

He should have also been starving by now, begging her for a taste of her like he had before.

So how did he still look so... normal?

"Ah, you know how it is." Kai sighed, leaning back against the wall of ice behind him. "It's a tropical holiday, a bit chilly, but I've gone through worse. You should have seen some of the places back on Earth, would you believe me if I told you that there these incredibly strange creatures called penguins that existed.

They had wings, yet couldn't fly, had feet, but couldn't walk properly, had mouths, but couldn't speak. Isn't that strange?"

Anastasia smirked. It seemed that she had been worrying for nothing, her Pet really was losing it. A creature called a penguin? What a load of rubbish.

"Wow Pet, they really do sound quite interesting. Would you like me to tell you about some of the beasts that roam the blizzard?"

Kai's smile faded a little, remembering back to the unknown monster that made his ears bleed just by roaring and the mimic that could apparently wipe out the city if it wanted to.

"I would rather you didn't."

Anastasia was about to go on about one of the beasts, but hearing Kai's response she simply said:

"Very well. Now, I come to you with a proposal."

Kai laughed as he looked up at Anastasia.

"A proposal? I thought you were already married? Well, I'm sorry to dissapoint you but I have no intension of becoming a side piece."

Attempting to ignore the pain of the ice freezing his fingers, Kai groaned, but didn't stop smiling.

However, he couldn't help but feel that something was off after he saw Anastasia laughing at his joke.

"Oh how funny you are, Pet. But I would like to you to reconsider your options.

I'm giving you one chance to become my pet again, willingly. You know that I treat you right, I never done anything bad to you. Do you not remember the nights we spent together?"

Kai scoffed. Was he meant to remember them? She had been controlling him so he had no recollection of the events that had unfolded, so what was the point of asking?

"No, and I'm sure I wouldn't want to remember whatever you did to me, you-

Kai grunted again, the frostbite on his fingers moving up to his wrists, freezing both of his hands. This time he didn't even get the insult out before the collar activated.

Anastasia let out an exaggerated sigh, an over the top look of hurt on her face. She then clicked her fingers and the guard holding the strange box started approaching the cell.

"I'm so sorry, my Pet, but it seems that this is the only way. Since you're so set on disobeying your master, I just have to make you loyal again.

Guard, inject him with some of the Ghoul Bloodline."

Kai's heart froze as his eyes widened. Did she really just say inject him with some of the... Ghoul Bloodline?

Kai was panicking, he had no idea that you could just be injected with a Bloodline, what sort of sense did that make? Surely there had to be some sort of side effects to it, right?

"A ghoul is a type of zombie." Anastasia began to explain. "They're very loyal beasts, albeit a little on the dumber side, but they can be cute.

After all, they're always eager to please their master. Well, please their master and get their fair share of food, but I can assure you that I'll make sure you're... properly fed"

Kai felt a shiver run up his spine, not from the cold of the cell or the ice on his hands, but from the fact that Anastasia was licking her lips, her eyes squinted slightly, making Kai feel as if he was being violated just by her gaze.

The guard with the box and the guard with the spear both walked straight through the ice bars, as if they weren't even there, leaving Kai gobsmacked.

Kai, panicking, started kicking at the legs of the guard with the box while shouting.

"Oh fuck off you absolute dickhead! Did your mother never tell you not to inject strangers with creepy Bloodlines? No? She was probably too busy choking on a client's-"

Kai was forced to close his mouth when he felt the spear in the other guards hands be pressed up against his neck, kissing his skin in an almost intimate way.

Anastasia smirked, amused that Kai had finally shut up. She was also mentally taking notes, maybe a blade to the neck was all she needed to have her Pet be obedient.

Racking his brain for any way out of this, Kai thought about using Soul Flame and burning through two guards, but that would only screw him over in the long run. Anastasia had no idea he could still use one of his skills, and these guards were easily replacable. Showing off he could still use a skill would do him more harm than good.

So what could he possibly-

"Anastasia, you fucking bitch! No wonder Castillian doesn't pay you any attention, who would? You're so annoying, so needy, so whiny, like God just get over yourself. You're not all that, how old are you, a couple millenia, couple million years?

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if you said a couple of million years, you definitely look it."

Kai's body began steadily freezing over, the ice rising up his fingers, to his wrist, all the way up to his shoulders. It then began rising up his legs, all the way to his waist. His body was quickly becoming a statue of ice, but that was what he wanted.

His plan was simple. Turn as much of his body as he could to ice before the syringe in the box got anywhere near him, that way they wouldn't be able to inject him. What chance did a syringe have of piercing this ice after all?

Anastasia's expression kept darkening as Kai kept insulting her, he saw her jaw clench and her fingernails dig into her arms.

Inwardly, Kai was overwhelmed by glee, watching Anastasia get more and more upset. She deserved it after all, even though he was lying that she looked old though, but it worked, what woman wouldn't get upset by being told that they looked old?

But that glee quickly turned to worry when Anastasia started laughing.

"W-what are you laughing for?"

Anastasia clutched her stomach, doubling over as the sound of her laughter filled the icy prison. Meanwhile, Kai was frozen, both figuratively and literally. Even the guards froze when they heard their boss laughing.

Wiping a tear from her eye, Anastasia let out her final few chuckles before gazing down at Kai and smiling.

"Oh Pet, you really think you're so clever. I have to applaud you for that, making fun of me to turn your body to ice, how genius.

In fact, it was so genius that it almost worked."

Kai's face paled even more than it already was, courtesy to half his body currently being frozen solid and the worry that was coursing through the last of his veins that hadn't been turned to ice.

"It would have worked, if not for the fact that the Bloodline is going to be injected into your neck."

Inwardly cursing, Kai attempted to shimmy away, but it was pointless. He had accidently screwed himself by turning himself to ice.

He tried to move his neck away, but the spearhead that was being held to it made it hard to do so.

Kai could only watch in horror as the guard holding the box opened it and pulled out a syringe, a ghastly purple liquid inside it.

"You know, I never really was a fan of injections. I would be willing to end this amicably, so it's up to you to decide?"

Anastasia simply titled her head and smiled again.

"I would rather not."

The next thing Kai knew, the tip of the syringe had been shoved into his neck and the Bloodline had been injected.

Kai remained completetly still after they pulled the syringe out.

Nothing happened.

At first, Kai thought that maybe the Bloodline was faulty, but then came the pain.

Anastasia smirked as she watched the veins in Kai's neck nearly protrude out of his skin. His veins had turned a sickly purple colour, and it was slowly moving around her Pet's whole body.

It was like there was a worm crawling around in his veins, completetly blocking the flow and moving in the wrong direction. It was so uncomfortable, so horrible, so terrible that it had Kai gasping for breath.

He cried out in pain, wanting to thrash around, but was unable to because he had turned half his body to ice.

Then, the notification came.

Ghoul Bloodline: 2%

Screaming, Kai wondered why the fuck the system was congratulating him, this was not a good thing!

And to make matters even worse, the good news came in the form of a warning.
