Journey of the Moonlight Swordsman

When a popular game and reality became connected, the world changed. Dungeons began to appear everywhere, and humanity quickly started to lose their territories. Fortunately, though, with the dungeons, the people that played this game received powers from their in-game characters, and this enabled humanity to fight back. The story follows a player who’s called Finn, and he is one of the weakest players there is. After being met with misfortune all his life, he went into a dungeon to earn some money for his rent, but because of his terrible luck, he found himself being chased by monsters. Due to a miracle, he barely managed to escape, only to stumble upon a huge door that even titans could walk through. The moment he pushed it open, he was given another chance to change his terrible past, but that was not the only thing he received after he opened that mysterious and sinister door... -------------------------------- Hello! This is my first ever novel, and I have always loved reading novels that made me feel an emotion, be it a sad one or an excited one. So, while writing this novel, I wrote some of the chapters with the sole purpose of making the reader feel the same emotion that I felt while writing it. Sometimes, I had to stop writing to wipe my tears away. ;-; Anyway, I hope you enjoy my first novel!

Troublesome lunch

"What do you mean? I live here."

Sophie looked vastly different compared to what she usually looked like in the game.

She had a dark blue dress with small frills on her sleeves that made her look a lot more girly as compared to her in-game self, where she wore pants and a T-shirt.

"But what are you doing here, Finn?"

Finn quickly recovered from his shock and answered.

"Jonathan invited me here because I had previously saved Nina, and he suggested that since I was already here, I might as well eat lunch with his family."

"So that was you who saved my little sister."

Sophie's cold gaze turned a little gentler, and she walked up to Finn.

"Thank you. Truly."

Finn could see that Sophie loved Nina, but instead of getting embarrassed like he had expected Nina to do after her sister was so openly thanking Finn, she just crossed her arms and looked away.

'Sophie loves Nina, Nina hates Sophie, and Estelle seems to be strict with Nina, but she is very… open towards me.'

The more Finn tried to understand their family situation, the more his head started to hurt, so he gave up and decided to just act friendly with everyone.

It doesn't matter if they love each other or not, but as long as nobody hated him, then all is well.

"You know each other already?"

Estelle quickly used the opportunity to hug Finn's arm and make it sink in between her breasts.

"Yes, from Second Life."

Sophie just looked at her mother's behavior and didn't say anything about it, but Finn could see her gaze turn colder again.

'No Sophie! How is this my fault?!'

Finn wanted to free his hand, but he was scared that he would accidentally rip Estelle's dress if he made a quick motion like that, so he tried to look as pitifully as possible at Sophie to make her understand his predicament.

"Let's eat."

But she ignored him and went to sit at the table.

The others decided to listen to Sophie and go sit down, which made Estelle let go of Finn's hand.

"Sorry for being late, everyone."

A butler opened the door, and Jonathan entered.

He saw that his daughter Sophie was already sitting, so he also took his seat at the head of the table.

Soon they all sat down.

Nina was sitting on Jonathan's right, while Sophie was sitting on his left. Finn was sitting next to Nina, and Estelle was sitting across from him.

Finn thought that it was weird that Estelle wasn't sitting next to her husband, but then he remembered how weird their family is, so he decided to ignore it.

Once they all sat down, the maids started bringing food to the table.

There were so many different dishes that Finn didn't even know what most of them were. He knew what a roasted duck looked like, but that was about it.

There was probably a caviar and foie gras dish somewhere there, but Finn had never seen it before, so he decided to play it safe and eat the roasted duck.

The butler poured everyone a glass of red wine, and even though neither Nina nor Sophie were yet 21, nobody seemed to care, so Finn also didn't reject the wine.

Jonathan then raised his glass into the air.

"I would like to thank Finn once again for saving my lovely daughter."

Everyone looked at Finn and Estelle even winked at him, so he was really embarrassed to be put on a spot like this.

"It led me into being arrested, but if I could turn back time, I would do it again."

He quickly thought of a response, but it ended up sounding pretty cheesy. Is what he thought, but everyone around him, except Sophie, chuckled, so his response was probably okay.

"By the way, Jonathan, am I not underdressed for this lunch?"

The girls had dresses, and Jonathan was wearing a black suit with a red tie, so it made Finn, who was wearing sweatpants and a hoodie, look like a commoner among the royalty.

"Not at all. We always eat lunch dressed like this, but nobody minds you wearing comfortable clothes instead of a suit."

They all nodded at that and started eating.

Jonathan ate the first bite of his food and looked at Finn.

"My sources told me that you have won a tournament filled with the best players in Second Life, Finn"

"Yeah, I did, but it was mostly because I got lucky. Some of my opponents conceded without a fight, and in some battles I had to rely solely on my equipment, so I don't think of myself as the strongest player yet."

Finn scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment.

He knew that if he wasn't good at wielding a sword or if he didn't have the drive to win, he would have never become the champion of the tournament, but there were a lot of moments where he won a match due to luck.

"Not only are you strong, but you are also humble! How about this. I am thinking of depositing a lot of money into Second Life and creating a guild, do you want to be the guild master?"

CLANG

Sophie stopped eating and put her cutlery on her plate, which made a loud noise.

"Father, I believe that you have promised that I will be the guild master."

She looked at Jonathan, feeling betrayed.

"Yes, I did, but the stronger the person in charge is, the stronger the guild will become. Finn here won a tournament that determined the strongest player, but I believe that you weren't even qualified to enter it."

"…"

Sophie wanted to retort that she didn't have time to level up because she had to stop playing when she heard about what had happened to Nina, but that would make it seem like she was blaming her sister, so she remained silent.

Finn didn't want to be hated even more than he already was by Sophie, so he quickly rejected the offer.

"No, thank you. I want to create my own guild."

He declined primarily because he intended to found a guild that would be exclusively his and not secretly owned by someone else like Jonathan's guild.

Jonathan kept trying to coerce Finn into accepting the guild master position by naming all the benefits he would get, but Finn kept rejecting him, so he was forced to give up.

"Let's just eat already. Here Finn. Say ahhh…"

Nina cut a piece of the duck that was on Finn's plate and fed it to him.

Interestingly, Jonathan didn't seem to care that his daughter was openly flirting with another boy in front of him.

Maybe it was because he kept thinking of different ways to make Finn accept his deal, or maybe he just didn't care about his rebellious daughter's love life.

"Nina please. I can eat by mysel- MMPH!"

"No, I will feed you."

Finn tried to tell Nina that he wasn't a kid that needed to be fed, but he had his mouth stuffed with a piece of duck before he could finish the sentence.

He didn't want to make Nina hate him, so he just accepted his fate and allowed her to feed him.

Finn then grabbed his glass of wine to have a drink, but he almost choked on it when he felt someone's foot on his knee.

Looking ahead of him, he saw Estelle winking at him while seductively biting her lower lip.

Finn wanted to remove her foot from his knee, but he didn't want Nina to notice, so he just pretended that the foot wasn't there.

Estelle's foot, which was circling his knee, slowly climbed up until it reached his thigh, and even though he had pants on, he could still feel how soft her foot was.

He tried his best not to show it on his face, but Estelle took that as a challenge and started massaging his thigh in an up-and-down motion.

"Nina, can you hand me the MMMM! Sauce! The sauce, please."

"Okay? Here is your mmmm sauce."

Nina took it as a joke, but Finn was now really starting to lose the battle, so he looked with pleading eyes at Estelle.

Instead of stopping, she sadistically smiled at him and started moving faster.

'This is bad! I need to find a way to escape.'

'Just enjoy the moment.'

Loki was smiling because something fun was finally happening.

'Fuck you! If it wasn't during lunch and it wasn't the foot of Sophie's mom, I might have enjoyed it, but I have to show her that I won't take it lying down!'

Finn realized that the horny god in his head wouldn't be of any help, and he tried to think of an escape plan.

BANG

Sophie suddenly slammed her hands on the table and raised her voice.

"I am done eating, and I will be in my room!"

The noise scared Estelle into stopping what she was doing, and Finn was finally free.

To her dismay, he awkwardly stood up, trying his best not to let his sleeping dragon, that was now wide awake, get noticed. And after asking for directions to the bathroom, he quickly retreated.

'Wow, you have really shown her.'

Loki was laughing, which made Finn frown.

'Shut up! What was I supposed to do then? Shout at her, "Please stop using your foot to tease someone who is your daughter's age under the table!" or what you dumbass?!'

'Why not? Sounds fun.'

Loki chuckled while imagining the situation that would then develop.

'Fun for you, but not for me!'

In the bathroom, Finn calmed down a bit, and after he was ready, he washed his hands and opened the door to the hallway.

He wanted to return to the dining hall because he had forgotten to talk to Jonathan about his dad's issue.

But before he could walk outside the bathroom, he saw that Sophie was standing there, blocking his way, with a frown on her face.

"What is it, Sophie? Do you need to use the bathroom too?"

Finn asked with a smile, but she just silently glared at him and then opened her mouth.

"We need to talk. Follow me."
