Episode 18

The bell rang and we all packed our stuffs and left the classes. It has been a long hard day. I'm glad it was getting closer to the day of our midterm break which would launch us into our 3 days fasting and prayers.

"So what's our plan?" Ope asked as she walked beside me.

"We don't have a plan. We follow the plan of the master."

"Oh!"

Soon, Romeo caught up with us.

"I was thinking we should go and meet Kayla's family right now. What do you think?" I asked him immediately he was close enough," Ope said.

"No! That wouldn't be a good idea. Besides, daddy said we should spend sometime in prayers before we launch into the battlefield," Romeo countered.

"Robert, it's simply evangelism. Why are you making a big deal out of it?" Ope asked.

"Because evangelism is the highest form of war. Infact, it is confronting the gates of hell, penetrating their defenses and pulling a soul out of hell into heaven.

It's not something Satan would see you doing and smile broadly. He'll confront you and do all he can to stop you. That's why soul winners must learn to pray very well before embarking on soul winning."

I shook my head and stared at Romeo.

"You're making it sound scary. That something I don't like."

"Juliet what's going on with you? Why have you given a portion of the room of your heart for the devil to occupy? Any little thing, I'm scared! What's the meaning of that? You need to cry to the Holy Ghost for help! You need help! You need serious help!"

I was shocked by Romeo's utterance.

"Are you sure you're talking to me?" I asked looking at him with red eyes.

"No! I'm talking to the wall behind you!" He answered scornfully.

"Haaaa! Romeo! What's the meaning of that?" I asked angrily.

"I'm saying the truth. That's one thing with female Christians. They're weak! They always allow their emotions to control them. Any little thing, they would forget that they're christians and turn to their emotions for support and comfort. It's a weakness Satan keeps exploiting in them everyday."

I wanted to reply him when suddenly my eyes opened. I saw 7 demons surrounding him, not just him, us. One of them was standing so close to him and was whispering into his ears, giving him what to say.

Suddenly, like when a movie is reminded, everything around me began to rewind and I saw the same demons listening to us as we were planning our visit to Kayla's family.

I saw one of them saying to his companion that they must not allow this journey to be successful. They said they have to stop us from carrying out this assignment.

"Stop Juliet Anderson!" One screamed furiously.

"We have invested so much in Kayla. We cannot lose her to the ancient one.

"But she's not going to stop. She's so into this Jesus slaying stuff!" The inferior demon replied.

"Exploit her weaknesses. Make her get emotional and fall prey to the spirit of fear. Once she's afraid, she'll be crippled spiritually. She won't be able to go out and preach the gospel anymore.

Fear has always been a great weapon we have been using to stop many christians from sharing God's word with others. Many christians have fallen prey for this trick. They allow their fear to control them and in the end, the souls of the lost becomes a slave to us."

"And what if she over comes? What would be our next move?"

"We would use her past addiction against her. She loves movies so much. That was what made her to lose Ope. She was supposed to pray for her that day, but immediately she saw cartoons on the television screen, she lost self control.

That would be our next move if she manages to overcome the spirit of fear."

It was Ope's tap on my shoulder that brought me back to reality.

"Juliet!" She called.

I looked at her and saw her lips moving.

My heart pumped so fast that I couldn't move my legs.

"Juliet!" Romeo called.

"Is something wrong with her?"

My eyes were widely open and my breath was fast.

I looked around again and saw everything moving slowly.

"Daddy help me! Do not abandon me now. I am your humble servant. Uphold me with your right hand," I prayed within me.

I began to quote the 7 bible scriptures I had memorized against fear.

"1 Peter 3:13. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

Psalms 16:8. I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Psalms 138:7. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

Isaiah 43:1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

Verse 2. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psalms 91:5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

Verse 6. Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

Verse 7. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Verse 8. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked."

Immediately I was through, I felt a rush I'm my spirit and calmness walked in majestically. Slowly, my heart beat got calmer and calmer every second.

"Lord I am no match for the enemy. I guess Mrs Okoro was right for backing out of this spiritual warfare stuff," I said within me.

"YOU ARE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR THROUGH HIM WHO LOVES YOU!" That was daddy's response.

"Hmmmmmmm! Are you sure I won't be crushed?"

"GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD! NOBODY CAN CRUSH THE ALMIGHTY GOD AND HE LIVES INSIDE OF YOU."

"Daddy! I'm just a little girl! I'm so imperfect. I'm full of mistakes and inconsistency. I'm too small for all of this!"

"JEREMIAH 1:6 THEN SAID I, AH, LORD GOD! BEHOLD, I CANNOT SPEAK: FOR I AM A CHILD.

VERSE 7. BUT THE LORD SAID UNTO ME, SAY NOT, I AM A CHILD: FOR THOU SHALT GO TO ALL THAT I SHALL SEND THEE, AND WHATSOEVER I COMMAND THEE THOU SHALT SPEAK.

VERSE 8. BE NOT AFRAID OF THEIR FACES: FOR I AM WITH THEE TO DELIVER THEE, SAITH THE LORD.

VERSE 9. THEN THE LORD PUT FORTH HIS HAND, AND TOUCHED MY MOUTH. AND THE LORD SAID UNTO ME, BEHOLD, I HAVE PUT MY WORDS IN THY MOUTH.

VERSE 10. SEE, I HAVE THIS DAY SET THEE OVER THE NATIONS AND OVER THE KINGDOMS, TO ROOT OUT, AND TO PULL DOWN, AND TO DESTROY, AND TO THROW DOWN, TO BUILD, AND TO PLANT."

I felt so refreshed. A smile appeared on my face.

"Juliet!"

"Yes!"

"Where were you? Were you having another vision?" Ope asked.

"Hmmmmmmm! Romeo! Do you think what just happened was ordinary?" I asked staring into his eyes.

He had a remorseful countenance. He bowed his head, unable to utter a word.

I walked up to him and patted him on the shoulder.

"It's okay soldier! Pick up your weapons again. Let's go and do some damage to those enemies. But remember one thing!"

I place my hand on his chest.

"Keep your heart with all diligence! Guard your thoughts. Your mind is the most vulnerable part of you. You must not allow the devil to step in and fill you with evil words.

And remember, don't judge, or else you'll be judged also."

I saw his eyes getting clouded with tears.

"Romeo please let's just get out of here first, we're still in school."

"I can't believe I allowed the devil to use me!" He said and tears rolled down his face.

"Oh my goodness! Romeo if you're crying what do you expect the ladies to do? After all, you were the one saying that female Christians are so emotional.

What's going on right now?"

"God always has a way of humbling the proud and giving grace to the humble. He has been claiming strength since morning, now God has disgraced him!" Ope said and we all burst into laughter.

That was exactly what we needed, because Romeo started smiling admist tears.

"Thank you Jesus for humility!" I said waving my hands in the air.

"You guys should stop making mockery of me!" Romeo said covering his face.

We all burst into laughter.

"What kind of emotional son is this? Your own worst pass woman sef!" I added and the laughter increased.

"Let's go!" Ope said.

We began to walk out of the school premises.

"Ope, are you still praying?" I asked.

"Why not? Of course I am! And immediately the two of you started your husband and wife banter, I intensified it.

I pretended as if I didn't hear the other statement she made.

"Wow! No wonder the bible says we should pray without ceasing. This is awesome!" I replied.

"Juliet! Are you going to pay attention to the other thing she said? Imagine her calling us!"

"Calling us! How?"

"Ope, repeat yourself again! It's like Juliet didn't hear all you said." Romeo said to Ope.

"Okay, I said immediately the two of you started your exchange of insults, I intensified my prayers."

"Ope! You're a fraud! Say it exactly the way you said it the first time!" Romeo replied with a playful aggression.

"I don't understand!" Ope replied feigning ignorance.

"Ope, don't mind your brother. He's just so emotional today. Please don't pay attention to his emotions!" I said and we all burst into laughter.

It's so important to note that one of the issues with Christianity is pride. When you have arrived at certain heights spiritually, you start noticing a fault in the life of everyone around you.

You start becoming the only one who is perfect and doing well spiritually. Even your mentor gets criticized as well. You begin to see his faults and instead of correcting in the spirit of meekness, you all pride to do the talking.

I have said it before and I'll keep saying it, your heart is the only part of you that has no defense. The only defense your heart possesses is you.

You are the defender of your heart. You you leave it unguarded, demons will creep in and start whispering a lot into your head.

Also, I believe you learned something from how the Holy Ghost was countering all the negative thoughts the devil was throwing into Juliet's mind.

Lord give me the grace to guard my heart diligently. May I never get careless with my thoughts.
