Izumi Isn't Just Unlucky

"...This is unexpected," I muttered as I stared blankly up at the ceiling of my room. It started earlier when I accidentally tripped and hit my head just after entering my room. And now I lay on the floor while recalling some of my past life memories.

There were still some vague and hazy memories but most of my memories are clear. Memories of the life I led in the past up to my death were all clear. But there was a hazy figure that was in some memories, I can't quite see this figure's appearance though I feel whoever they are, is extremely important to me.

I didn't stay long on the floor, I immediately stood up after organizing my past and current memories. After that, I sat on my chair and browsed the internet through my computer. I searched for incidents or events that is bizarre or something similar.

This is to confirm whether I'm in the same universe as my past or some other universe out there. Since I knew from my memories that other universes existed, heck, we even have a train that can go to other bubble universes in a place called the sea of quanta.

Just that fact proves the existence of other universes so I won't be too surprised if I'm not in my previous universe. My internet browsing took an hour and I concluded...

"I'm not in the same universe," From the searches I've done, no clues were leading to the existence of the honkai or its influences. But...I still need to be careful, who knows when honkai will affect this universe as well.

"Haaa," Just as I released a sigh, a sudden mechanical cold voice followed.

[System Activation, complete! Congratulations, host!]

"A system? Like those in novels I used to read before joining the war against the honkai...?"

[According to the memories of the host, yes.]

"...Tell me your functions," I said. First, I should know what type of system this is.

"I see," At least I have some understanding of how this system works. It isn't like those systems that will let you become strong extremely fast, you need to work for it.

"Show me my status," I need to know this. My current self is nowhere as strong as my past, and there's also my extremely bad luck.

"Do it," I said without hesitation, the thing I needed now is exactly this. With the enhancement, it can bring, my chances of falling into circumstances due to my luck can be minimized. And...I still need strength for other reasons.

As soon as it finished the warning, I felt an undesirable itch on my whole body. I endured it and sat still as much as I could. But this feeling is way worse than taking damage head-on from honkai beasts or a Herscherr's attacks, it's that worse.

The itch lasted for a few minutes which felt like an eternity to me.

"Haa haa haa," I can feel my sweat dripping from my forehead. That was something I don't like to feel again.

I didn't feel anything after it though but I decided to lie down on my bed to sleep first. All these shenanigans made my mind a bit unstable.

Third Person PoV~

As soon as he slept, the enhancement process sped up. All the nanomachines removed any unwanted elements inside his body before proceeding with the real enhancement. The unwanted elements are what some may call impurities.

The enhancement process slowly proceeded to start from improving his cells to the flesh, bones, muscles, etc. The process only stopped after the energy his body stored is nearing dangerous levels. This caused the enhancement to only give him the strength of an athlete, far from peak human capabilities

Another thing was, slowly his past and current personalities merged along with his memories, sense of self, etc. What changes this will bring? It will only be known in the future.

Izumi Yuu PoV~

After a good sleep, I felt hungry. This is probably due to the nanomachines. So with that thought, I went out of my room and went to the kitchen.

It was the middle of the night already when I woke up so my parents are already asleep. I opened our fridge and found some leftover dinner. I heat it in the microwave while I cooked up some rice.

While waiting for my food to be finished, I thought about what will happen now. It's still vacation now but in around two weeks, I will be going to high school. That should be enough time to do some things.

First of all, I want to enjoy this life. My last one isn't exactly pleasant, with all the tragedy that happened in it. And besides, I have a family in this one. Then comes the second goal, earning money. To fully enjoy this life, I need money.

"Just in time," The food was done reheating. The only thing left is rice, which should be done in a few more minutes.

After waiting for some time, the rice was cooked and I had a fulfilling meal.
