Chapter 71

The warmness of the house was the first thing she noted. 

Then the rickety ground, the house wood having splinters and obvious sign of age on the wall.

And the expensive items that looked like they didn't have any place where they were. Like the few thin clothes hanged on the wall, the two pairs of shoes in a drawer near the door. It looked like all the clothes and most of the material things Kana has were from her faceless uncle if what she remembers was right.

'' The bathroom is at the right.'' Kana said pointing to a brown door with a new handle. Danuja nodded before entering the bathroom, narrowing her eyes at the sight in front of her.

Beside a single towel that looked suspiciously like one of Kana skirts and the toilet itself that looked brand new, the place didn't look like anyone lived in.

She hummed a little, looking in the drawers before going to the basinet to wash her hands just to grit her teeth again.

Empty drawers and dirty water in the pipes. What the absolute fuck was happening here? 

'' Say Kana-'' Danuja begin after exiting the bathroom and finding the girl in a small kitchenet ''- do you live alone?'' she asked looking at a grey spot on the wall before looking back at Kana

'' Sometimes?'' Kana said uncertainly before adding '' My Father lives here as well but usually he leaves for business trips with my uncle so he is rarely around. And my uncle comes every time I make a request to see him, he brings clothes usually.'' she said smiling.

That smile made Danuja felt strange though. Uncomfortable, like she didn't quite fit in her own skin anymore and she needed to get out.

Danuja never wanted to see that empty smile on Kana face again.

The next day at school they were immediately called in the teacher lounge were a sleep deprived Sasaki-sensei was waiting. Kana was jittery.

'' What if he wants us to take back the furniture? They were from the Student Council club after all.'' Kana said quietly while walking towards the lounge, already tucked in Danuja jacket, her fingers playing with the hem anxiously

'' Why would they want them back even?'' Danuja asked back '' They were at lost and found anyway.'' she said shrugging 

'' Danuja-san -'' Kana almost whined, amusement trickling in her voice making her smile ''- lost and found doesn't work like that.'' she said looking much calmer before they entered the teacher lounge, bowing half heartly, for Danuja at last, to the teachers they come across.

Sasaki-sensei was waiting for them half asleep with a blanket on his legs for warmth. The sight made Danuja snort amused while Kana was just blinking startled at the man.

'' Sasaki-sensei!'' Danuja said startling the man awake making him flinch when he saw Danuja looming over him '' Did you need something or you just wanted us to see you sleep?'' she said watching the man grumble, glancing down amused at Kana when said girl pinched her elbow

'' I called you?'' he said wiping sleep away from his face before nodding '' I called you, right.'' he said beginning to search in his desk drawers '' The two of you got whatever from the Lost And Found boys right?'' he said not waiting for an answer before adding '' Well they gossiped about the two of you and now people want flowers apparently.'' he said giving Danuja a file before stretching back on his chair

'' Where the hell should we find flowers?'' Danuja said looking down at the paper

'' Sensei, I barely planted the roses, there's no way we can have flowers this soon, the fastest we could have flowers will be next month.'' Kana said trying to reason with the man

'' Don't care where you two get the flowers but if the two of you can provide the things that your Club promised to provide then the school will just shut down the place again.'' he said carelessly

'' How nice of them to shut down the place after we cleaned it and everything.'' Danuja said snorting unamused making the man grimace '' Here it's written that the Archery Club and the Art Club wants a a dozen roses each. I get the Art club but Archery? What do they even need the flowers for?'' she asked the man

'' Why are you asking me what a couple of teenage girls want?'' he said almost indignated '' Are you going to give them the flowers or not? ''

'' We don't have any money for the seeds though.'' Kana said quietly making the man look at last a bit ashamed. Danuja at last wasn't that worried about the money now after all she wouldn't die if she brought a dozen and so of flowers.

'' The Gardening Club budget it's close to none but I'm sure that the two of you are smart enough to find something to get a little money for the Club.'' he said and Danuja could appreciate that he talked much more gently with Kana than when talking with her '' And keep in mind that it's forbidden to use your own money.''

And Danuja growled, already done with the man for today before taking a hold, still gentle, always gentle, of Kana arm and tugging her away but not before spitting at the man.

'' I hope you choke in your sleep, Sensei.''

'' What should we do?'' Kana said humming while they walked from a hall to another, passing by students and the occasional teacher

'' .... '' Danuja would have liked to give an idea, really she would but after her first one was shut down before she could even voice it '' He didn't say anything about bringing flo-'' Danuja stopped before turning sharply around at Kana who remained behind looking at an announcing board 

'' Kana?'' she said returning at her side quickly smiling gently at her bright smile, lowering her head so they could be at a closer level

'' Danuja-san, how good are you at lifting weights?'' Kana said, pointing at the board making Danuja blink confused before looking ahead at the posters

'' Lifting weights?'' she said before smirking loudly '' I'm pretty good at them.'' she said sharing a smile with the girl before ripping off the poster
