So. It's Official.
After receiving a call from a Recruiter based in Darby three days ago, Emma received the offer letter from her future employer through email. The company offered her a position as a Human Resources Manager with Horlderlin Incorporation. It's one of the subsidiaries under the Greene Group of companies. Horlderlin Incorporation's business is focused on the FMCG industry. The company is located in a sub-urban of Darby City.
Emma is satisfied with the offered remuneration packages and company office location. She thinks that if her small family lives outside of the main city with a low-profile lifestyle, no one from her past life or past acquaintances will know her whereabouts. Emma is determined to focus on raising her children and has no intention of getting involved with her past acquaintances including her ex-fiance Zack and the father of her children, the gray-eyed devils.
Due to her need for money for her child's education, she accepted the offer and will be going back to Darby after a good six years of living overseas. All the necessary arrangements for her onboarding with the company will be managed online due to her current location.
At home, after dinner, Emma calls her mom, and the triplets for a family meeting. Kind of.
"Guys, I have officially accepted a job offer from a company based in Darby and we all need to go back there in 2 months times. I have served my resignation notice with my current employer today. We need to slowly start doing our packing from tomorrow onwards until our flight back." Emma blurted out the main reasons she called for the family meeting.
"Any objection or any concern on this moving plan?" Emma looks at her mom and her sons.
"Why suddenly we are moving out from here, Mommy? Earl questioned her mom's decision.
Looking at her eldest son, Emma said "The company offered me good compensation and we need it, Earl. You guys are 5 years old now, you should go to school".
"But we are good at reading and calculation already Mom. Why do we still need to go to school??" Eric asked acoustically.
"Yes, absolutely Eric. You guys are outstanding for your age, but education it's not about knowing how to read a book and calculations only. There's more than reading and numbers. To grow as a person, education can allow you to learn new skills and knowledge". Emma explains to her sons attentively.
"Are we going to see our daddy, mom?" Ean didn't want to miss a chance to ask a question to her mom too.
"Oh Ean, no, we are not," Emma answered her son's question calmly.
This is not the first time her children asked this daddy matters to her. She always answers with a firm reply to her sons whenever they mention who their father is and how or when they can meet their father.
During the early days, Emma would give an answer to her children such as "I'm a single parent, I never married and I don't know who your father is, or your father is already with an angel." (LOL)
To be honest, Emma also doesn't know who was her children's father. She clearly remembers his face from that day until now, but she doesn't even know his name. When the man clearly announced that he didn't want to have any kind of relationship with her on that particular morning, Emma also chose to go away without looking back.
The incident that happened to her six years ago taught her to not chase people anymore. "Don't chase people, Emma. If they want to leave, let them. If they push you away, go. You weren't put on this earth to convince anyone of your worth." That's what her mom told her when she broke down those days.
"Small circle. Private life. Happy heart. Clear mind. Peaceful life.' was her life mantra since then.
Due to her situation during those days, with a tight hand, she had no choice but to forego and not investigate what happened to her on that particular night. How did she end up sleeping with that gray-eyed devil, how come Zack showed up in that room early morning to break off their engagement? All has become a mystery.
What a night to forget. What a night to remember. To let life happen. I remember letting go of everything.
With Ean in her arms, Emma finally said "We can still live happily without your father all this while, Ean. Let's forget about 'daddy', okay?"
Ean pouted "Okay Mommy."
