The doctor 2

"Umm…" The little brother trembled as he spoke, "Of course, I am worried for my brothers, doctor. Whoever told you anything otherwise is spouting nonsense. Please don't fall into their trap."

If the man had not scratched the back of his head while speaking, the doctor might have really believed his words with how sincere he looked.

The doctor did not care to argue with this little goon. He concentrated on treating the 'patients' on the beds. Since he had taken the task, he had to finish it first.

The little brother heaved a sigh of relief seeing the doctor not asking him anymore questions. He was really worried that he would fall under the doctor's blacklist.

The den became silent. The doctor did not have a nurse beside him to assist. So he had to do everything by himself. Even if Cyril wanted to help, he doesn't know much about medicines and there is nothing he could do to help. All he could do was to stand to the side without disturbing the doctor.

After a while, the doctor finally stopped treatment and closed his medical kit.

Cyril looked at him and asked, "How is it, doctor? Are they fine?"

"Yeah. They are fine. Don't worry. I won't let them die here," The doctor smiled.

Cyril smiled back. They both had the common goal. That was to keep those goons alive. As long as they were alive, neither of the two would care even if they were crippled.

For Cyril, it was for the sake of his business. On the other hand, for the doctor it was an even more serious issue.

The doctor's system is a medical system. It would give him points for treating patients. It would help him treat his patients. But it would also punish him if something were to happen to his patients.

The most severe punishment is that if any of his patients were dead while he was still treating them, the doctor would lose his life as well.

Cyril had read this rule when he had checked the doctor's system when he was discussing the collaboration with him.

Even though the rule was harsh, it was helpful to Cyril.

He understood the doctor, "As long as they are alive, everything is good."

"..." The little brother who did not dare to make a sound all this while was dumbfounded when he heard their conversation.

No one really cared about his 'brothers' at all.

Everyone had their own selfish agendas to treat these 'patients'.

He softly coughed from the sidelines, attracting the other two men's attention before he asked, "Umm, if they are fine, why didn't any of them wake up yet, doctor?"

This time, his voice did not sound like he was interrogating the doctor. Instead, he looked like he cared for the patients.

He did not give any chance to the doctor to blacklist him.

The doctor did not hold any more grudges when he saw his modest appearance and replied, "They are sleeping right now. They will wake up in a while."

The little brother grinned while he nodded his head like a chick pecking for rice as he was very happy that the doctor talked 'normally' with him.

Cyril did not dare to leave the room before the men woke up. He dared not imagine what they would do once they woke in his absence.

So he found a chair and sat after giving a chair to the doctor. He did not care about the little brother at all. It was already very respectful of him to not kick the man out of his premises. There is no way he would give him any more extra respect.

The little brother did not expect any respectful gestures from Cyril either. But with two men sitting, all his brothers sleeping and only him standing, he felt a little embarrassed.

He looked around and found an almost broken stool in a corner of the den. He took it, dusted it, and sat on it like an obedient child who was scared of his teachers.

Cyril shook his head, looking at his actions before he started reading some documents which he just placed in front of him.

The doctor, on the other hand, does not have much work to do as Cyril did. He was just sitting there looking at the patient's faces from afar.

He knew that only when they woke up would his work be completely done for now.

So he continued monitoring them. When he saw the little brother's actions, he did not contain his amusement and laughed out loud.

The little brother's back stiffened at the sound. He wanted to look at the doctor's face to ask what he was laughing about but he did not dare to look at the man at all.

He lowered his head a little more as if he just found something very interesting to watch on the ground.

"What is so interesting on the ground that you don't even care about your brothers?" The doctor's voice sounded in the calm den.

The little brother clenched his fists over his knees in fear. He shivered as he replied, "Doctor, I am really worried about my brothers. There is nothing on the floor. I just trust that with your treatment, nothing would go wrong with them. That's all."

He is scared that one wrong word and he would fall under the doctor's blacklist. He trembled as he spouted a bunch of words that everyone knew were nothing but nonsense.

Cyril raised his eyebrows and looked at the little brother. His words were the complete opposite of what he spoke earlier, weren't they?

He even dared to call him a quack doctor earlier and now he was saying that he trusted the doctor so much.

Cyril couldn't help but sneer at how fast this man changed sides.

The doctor sneered loudly, "Heh! You trust me so much?"

The little brother nodded his head immediately, scared that the doctor wouldn't believe him if he was even a second late.
