When morning came, Lucien was perplexed by what he saw. His mother had set up a tent to sell food in front of their house.
It reminded him of his childhood when his mother often sold food at the market.
The smell of soy and something frying filled the air. He approached the tent and saw Amane stirring a pot full of soy milk while Seren was busy promoting their food with a flyer in her hand.
'Why is she doing that? Isn't this place already crowded?' he thought, looking around at the stall already full of people eating.
"Oh, come here, Lucy! Help me with the orders," Amane suddenly shouted, waving at him.
Lucien sighed but didn't have a choice. With a smile, he took the orders and delivered them to the customers' tables.
Amane was selling soymilk, oat congee, and youtiao—long, golden-brown deep-fried dough strips. They were essentially savory Chinese doughnuts.
