The school day ended and I soon went back home. Unsurprisingly, Fang Yuan stood there, waiting for me. "What do you want? If you up for a fight, oh boy are you knocking on the wrong tree trunk!" Fang Yuan raised his hand at my face and said "I wish to borrow the brown boar strength Gu."
I shrugged my shoulders and said "Shouldn't have destroyed that brown one of yours. I am busy, don't get in the way of my cultivation and rest. My body is still not fully healed."
Fang Yuan smiled and said "What if I tell you I have planted a special Gu on your slave's back, which will kill him with a single thought of mine? Are you willing to compromise in such a situation?" I laughed at his dumb idea and said "That is quite interesting. I wonder what Gu can you have that possesses such abilities? Where could you have gotten it? The white boar Gu was most likely from an inheritance, so I doubt you have a steady supply of Gus. Your bluff is too flawed to be true."
He smiled as he passed by me and said "I'll give you two days worth of time to think it over." He left. The air of confidence just confirmed my guess. He is 100% bluffing! I don't remember him ever getting such a Gu. He is most likely trying to make me paranoid.
This is also a test of how "old" I truly am. If I am a naive kid, I will most likely ignore him, as my ego is too big to give in to him. If I am an old wise man and I doubt Fang Yuan's identity, then I will panic and try to reason with him. The other possibility is that I know too much about him and won't fall for his tricks or I know his true capabilities from somewhere and know for a fact he is bluffing.
Sheesh! What is wrong with this guy? Why does he always put traps behind traps behind the traps behind the visible trap? Is this what 500 years of life does to a guy?
I wish he could just talk honestly for once and not try to fuck me over. I would probably even share my Liquor Worm with him again if he does such a thing. Well, he doesn't matter as much anymore. What is important now is letting my brother know of the new idea I have.
Basic premise is phantom beasts. To summon a phantom beast, you must perform an attack in nearly perfect tune with the beast, that's phantom you want to use. How can a human be in tune with a beast? The answer is learning!
My brother stared at me as I pointed at him and asked "What?" I smiled even wider and said "Exactly, my brother! You are going to be living the life of a boar from now on!" He had a bewildered look and asked, in a voice full of confusion, "Why?"
I dismissed his confusion and said "As I mentioned, beast phantoms are special powers you summon from the beast strength you have cultivated your body with! If you know how a boar acts, it's minute movements, it's mindset and it's mannerisms, you will become more accustomed to releasing the beast phantom! It also doesn't consume any primeval essence and is extremely powerful, just what you need! You can even do the same for bears, crocodiles, wolves and etc. strength Gus'! Your power will soar through the sky!"
He looked at me, with a small blush on his cheeks "But I will look extra weird! How can I just spend 2 weeks pretending to be a boar?!" I laughed in a way I only do once i a blue moon and he understood my intentions perfectly! "You lowly slave! If your master tells you to do something, you do it! Because of this insubordination, you will have to live the life of a boar until I finish my exam day! If you get hungry, eat grass! If you get horny, you can go plow any of the beautiful female boars around you!"
Most of the time the slave title is just a means for banter, but sometimes I use it to command him to do shit he doesn't want to, like living the life of a boar for almost a month! My brother already fed his Bone Restructuring Gu the rabid boar king's bones and his bones have slowly started becoming stronger.
With my brother's affair taken care of, I went to cultivate and placed two primeval stoned in my mouth.
Time quickly flew by as my brother humiliated himself to enlightenment and I cultivate my Gus. One of the most surprising fact is, that my brother actually made boar friends! It was quite hilarious to be honest. I shit you not, he has blended in so well he even became the leader of the pack and now has an entire pack of 10 dark red boars hunting along with him. It is quite an interesting sight to see, no matter how stupid it sounds.
Let's ignore that and get back to the point. It is June already and Fang Zheng received his reward for being the "first" to advance to upper rank. He wanted to act smug in front of me, but 1 quick glare full of killing intent was enough to scare him off. My cultivation has already reached upper rank and I only need a few more weeks to break through to peak rank. Basically, I'll be rank 2 before the final battle. The Liquor Worm sure can do miraculous shit!
Me and the boys have already finished cultivating the boar strength Gus. All 3 of them now have their normal strength and the strength of 2 boars. Wang Er didn't really understand how the Gu worked and tried to fight my brother in a battle of strength, also known as arm wrestling, and boy did he get demolished!
The main reason I don't want the boar strength is because of the Dao mark of strength thingy. What strong points do boars have, that I can't make up for using my own physical strength and movement Gus'? None!
But the Wang brothers don't really get Dao marks and can't possibly reach a high enough cultivation rank for that to become a problem.
Wang Er's strength almost trippled because of the Gus' and he got extra cocky. The damned bastard thinks he is a god amongst mortals now and is showing off too much!
Bad news doesn't end there. We killed off our best goods supplier, so now we had to move our turf to Wang Er's turf. It was still worth it, I can technically refine a level 3 Gu worm now. I bought another bronze skin Gu for like 350 and traded it to Wang Da for the rock skin Gu. Now I have an Iron skin Gu, which I need to feed 500 grams of iron every 10 days.
Thunder cover Gu eats two eels every week, so I can somewhat sustain it and decided to keep it. A potential rank 3 Gu is really useful. My cultivation has also already reached peak, so I don't need the Liquor worm anymore. I am also planning to use the stone aperture Gu once I reach rank 2 and get my special Gu.
Actually, I lied. I am not going to use it until the day I get Fate Flipped Upside Down Gu. The "can't regenerate primeval essence anymore" part of the description stings my very soul, so I kinda have to wait it out.
If I can't regeneration primeval essence, then why the fuck would I want to be a Gu master? Just the idea is retarded! A Gu master, that can't recover primeval essence. I want to get that lotus thingy, but I don't want getting it to be the only choice I have left. Actually, can't I get it now?
Fang Yuan couldn't remove it because a petal had withered away. If The petal probably withered away because the spirit spring began drying up and it had to pull the essence from somewhere. If I can get there and take the rank 3 heavenly essence treasure lotus. It's in my shop, but the price is 1K Gu points! Holy Hell is it expensive!
I still need to save up for Fate Flipped Upside Down Gu and holy shit is it expensive! Also, you might think I am being too dramatic here. Fate Flipped Upside Down Gu can't be as good as I make it out to be, right? Can't I just buy a bunch of those rank 2 talent Gu worms that cost only 50 Gu points each? Well, I'll tell ya.
A stone aperture Gu does what? It makes your talent a literal 0 and completely stagnates your aperture. Imagine the extreme version of that, but good kind.
Ya, one of the 10 physiques, or maybe just a 100% talent. Who knows? Maybe I'll be the first person ever to survive with a 100% talent.
That is why I want the expensive Thingy. Normal talent Gu can only bring you up to 99%. If I wanted that, then I would just buy like 5 or 6 of them and be done with it! The small difference between 99 and 100 is owning and not owning an extreme physique. Imagine having one of the 10 physiques without any downsides! I'll be almost too overpowered!
Well, I don't think I will get the elemental boosts they get, but the huge regeneration is good enough for me. I can imagine just clutchgodding a battle thanks to my regeneration speed. That would be quite fun!
But I am too far away from that dream. I am a few steps away from rank 2 right now. That might be quite surprising, seeing as Fang Zheng just now advanced to upper stage and received his reward.
The main difference between others and me is, that I get like 9-12 hours of training time a day. That is a lot less than the time other kids get, but I cultivate for the entire time, unlike others, who have to train their bodies and learn how to use Gu.
My training is life or death battles with wild animals on a day to day basis. That al no with my optimized cultivation can do literal miracles.
I can break through any moment, but I need like 2 days of constant aperture nurturing to break through and I don't have the time for that because of the academy. At least the assessment is going to be soon and I have a small plan to make enough time for my breakthrough.
My idea behind the beast phantom is going to be different for Jack. His beast phantoms will work in a different manner than others.
