Bad Situation

Gerard seemed to know a lot more than Evan though he would. He actually had some pretty detailed information. Information that could only have been gotten through the messages sent to Evan's parents and the Academy. Evan knew that practitioners of the creative arts were extremely competitive, and it was common to make enemies amongst each other.

This made sense considering they would have to compete to be better than one another in order to have a larger customer base. Afterall, no one wanted to pay for a shoddy elixir. So, this was simple, the better your prestige was, the more business you would accrue.

Gerard clearly couldn't stand Feldman, for whatever reason. This wasn't Evan's concern though. His concern was how to get away from Gerard. Most children in his situation would just accept things for what they were and be willing to train under a new master. Like he said, Evan was destined for alchemical greatness no matter who taught him.
