Crawling on the ceiling, the both of us go entirely unnoticed by the guys down on the floor who barely seem to be paying attention to anything around them in the first place, a few of them even dozing off while lazily leaning on a wall or a shelf.
Guess they haven't even considered that someone might be bold enough to just sneak in here, but this just makes the cleanup all the more easier for us as we systematically pull people upwards, web their mouths shut with several layers of webbing on the way up and then stick them to the ceiling leaving them no room for movement.
Hey, if you were already tired, just consider this as nap time. Trust me, you will be much safer and more comfortable here than taking part in the battle that is about to ensue outside.
Talking about the battle, just as we finish pulling up the last of the guards, I hear the first gunshot outside the building, soon followed by another… then another… and then dozens and hundreds more as the miniguns start firing. Yuri and her forces had made their move, hopefully, all I have done here will help them out at least a little.
Seeing as all the enemies had been dealt with, I drop down to the floor, and Rogue lands right next to me a second after.
"Should we go outside and help?" She asks me, still in a quiet voice, almost a whisper, so as not to alert anyone further inside the factory.
It is true that our help could lessen any possible casualties the police suffer here, but I still shake my head. "No, we have already done enough by taking down the snipers and preventing any reinforcements from arriving," I said, pointing up to the guys attached to the ceiling.
"Instead, we should figure out what is further inside this place and what they are doing with the technology from Sable Internatio-" My words are interrupted by several guys bursting in through a door leading deeper into the factory.
I quickly pull Rogue with me as we duck behind some boxes near us to stay hidden from the newcomer's sights and silently watch what they are doing.
"Fuck, everyone get the last few boxes and carry them to boss quick. We don't have much time." One well-dressed guy seeming to be a higher-up barks some orders to the goons, who scramble to grab some more white boxes.
"Didn't Davis that fucker say the police would be attacking next week? Did he double cross us?" One of the goons asks their boss. Interestingly enough, I recognize the name Davis. It was the cop who gave information about this place to Yuri in the first place.
"I doubt it. He knows what would happen to his family if he dared lie to us." The boss says coldly. "It's more likely his boss never told him the correct date for the raid since they predicted or considered the possibility of their insider switching sides."
"Wait, what happened to all the guards who were here?" Another goon asks, noticing they are alone in the warehouse area of the factory.
"Outside to help probably, now move your bodies, not your mouths, you idiots."
Soon after, the four goons who entered managed to stack up four boxes and carry them away in pairs. The boss was the last to exit, closing the door after himself, but interestingly enough, I heard no lock, meaning we could just waltz on in.
"That's the guys I saw earlier," Rogue says, getting out from behind cover. "It seems the insider the NYPD had actually betrayed them."
"And Yuri saw it coming perfectly." I wouldn't expect anything less from her. "Those boxes they carried out were the last Sable International ones that were stored here. They looked to be in a hurry too."
"Then let's chase after them," Rogue says, taking the lead and walking toward the door we just saw them go through. I quickly follow in her step.
We stop at the door, listening to the sounds of gunfire outside the building as we wait a few seconds to ensure the people on the other side have walked far enough away to let us open the door and sneak in unnoticed.
Deciding we had waited enough, I open the door slightly to peek inside through the gap, and what greets me is a rotting hallway with only some blood-red lights lighting the way. Wow, if you guys are trying to look evil, then good job.
I put my finger in front of my mouth to signal Rogue to keep quiet from here on out. Seeing her nod, we step through the door, silently and slowly making our way forwards.
Right away, I notice a faint smell of blood in the air, and with each step I take, the smell becomes more prominent. By the time we make our way to the end of the hallway and see what lies there, even I, who had experienced bloody fights in NYC and the dungeons, almost felt like throwing up.
In the very middle of the room was a wooden table surrounded by lots of people, some had surgical tools in their hands, while others held welding tools, saws, or other mechanical tools. The table, as well as the floor surrounding the table, was covered in blood, and in places, I could even spot some human body parts like an entire arm that were seemingly just flung around as if they weren't necessary.
On the table lay a man… a machine… something in the middle?
The person's limbs had all been cut off, leaving basically just a head and a little bit of a torso, while everything else had been replaced with machine parts.
This must have been what all the technology from Sable International was used for…
