Inayah's Kismet

The first time they met, he saw her in only her underwear from his glass mansion across her small apartment window. So he said to her, ‘leave’ or ‘sell’ your house to me. The second time they met, he called her an ‘opportunist’ who tried to seduce him. The third time they met, he tried to kiss her because she smelt good. Wait! What is this new development in Jasper Miles? Wasn’t he rumoured to have hatred for women and couldn’t touch women? Why is he always looking out of his window at the small apartment across him just to see the petite girl, then? Why is he trying to covet her by tricking her? The girl said to him one day, ‘‘wait! I am still in high school. I can’t have a boyfriend right now’’ He leaned closer to her and whispered into her ears, '‘is not that you can’t have a boyfriend. Rather, it’s I can only be the one boyfriend that you will have in this life. We are bound together’’ ‘‘Shameless man!’’ the girl said and before she could turn her face away, he held her chin and looked into her eyes. ‘‘Inayah, you can only belong to me in this life and the life to come’’ After her tragic death, Inayah wakes up to find herself back to her 18-year-old self. Back to the beginning where everything started. At 18, she was an ordinary girl living her best life until she met Jasper Miles. The man who made her best friend turn against her. Jasper Miles was rumoured to be ruthless and someone who ‘couldn’t ‘touch’ women because he hated them and had suffered a bad breakup from the past. Waking up to the year her life turned around, Inayah was given a choice. To meet the same man again or to have a new life without that man. But, she decided, she wanted that man and was made to live that life again but with a catch. Now she could see the true colours of everyone. The one she once called her ‘best friend’ became her enemy. The one she once called her ‘enemy’ turned out to be her true friend. Inayah said to herself. ‘‘Now, I must live right this now’’ NB: Cover doesn't belong to me. Credits goes to the owner. Meeting again at the hospital 2

City Hospital.

ICU. [Private Ward]

Inayah pulled the cap to cover almost half of her face as she walked towards the ICU block of the City Hospital.

She zipped up her cardigan and stuffed her phone and iPod into her small fanny pack.

Inayah stopped in front of the first ward and looked at the boy laying inside through the glass window. Her face was devoid of any form of emotions as she gazed deeply at the boy.

''You must wake up, Gideon. Mine and your lives can't be ruined because of this.'' She muttered and heard a voice behind her.

''Who are you?''

Inayah turned to see a woman and two doctors standing in front of him. She took a step back before turning to run away.

''Hey, wait!'' The woman looked confused as she looked at the doctors. ''I just wanted to find out if she was a friend of Leslie.''

Inayah ran until she got to the elevator and put her hand inside as it closed.

She sighed in relief and entered into the elevator and murmured to herself.

She was unaware of the presence of the masked man and the doctor who were already inside the elevator when she entered.

''That was so close. Thank God, my legs are useful for once.'' Inayah bent halfway and hit her legs, panting for breath.

A moment later, her actions froze as she saw a pair of four feet behind her. She stood up slowly and turned to face them with an awkward smile.

''Hi...'' She lifted her hand halfway and immediately. ''Oh… you?''

''Did you do something bad, Miss?'' The doctor asked wanting to distract her when he noticed her gaze on his friend.

''No, of course not. I'm playing hide and seek with my friend.'' Inayah lied.

''Is this your first time here?''

''No, but this is my first time in this block. Why do you ask?'' Inayah looked at the masked man curiously.

''I asked because you seem new and you obviously didn't know this elevator is for VIP only.'' The doctor stated.

''Huh. V…VIP only?'' Inayah panicked and turned to look at the elevator signal.

''I'm sorry, I didn't know. I would go out right now.'' Inayah said and the masked man turned to look at his friend.

He blinked his eyes once and the doctor turned to Inayah.

''No, you can go when it reaches the ground floor. We are going to the third floor.'' The doctor said to Inayah.

''Third floor?'' She turned immediately and realised her mistake. She felt embarrassed more for being stupid.

''I must be really stupid. I didn't even check the floor it was going, I didn't even check the sign on the elevator and I didn't even notice I wasn't alone until now...'' Inayah sighed.

When she turned, she met the masked man's gaze and quickly looked away and almost lost her balance.

''Hey, little girl. Are you alright?'' The doctor reached out to help her as he asked.

''I am almost 18 years. Don't call me little. Doctor…'' Inayah said defensively before stepping closer to the doctor. ''That man, are you close to him?'' She whispered.

''Is better you don't know who he is.'' The doctor said and they stepped out when they elevator stopped. ''See you around, little girl.''

Inayah frowned as she watched the two men walk away.

After entering office, the doctor removed a bottle of water and placed it in front of the man who had now taken off his mask, revealing his face that looked so fair and beautiful like crystal porcelain.

''So, care to tell me why you allowed that girl to stay in the elevator? You seemed comfortable with it?'' The doctor asked curiously as he sat across his friend.

''She is the girl in the house next to mine.'' Jasper said as he took out his phone.

''What? Really? No wonder she looked like that she saw a ghost. Does she know how you look like?''

She doesn't but I do know how she looks like. Every inch of her body is engraved in my mind. It's hard to ignore her!''

''What are you talking about? You speak as if you saw her naked.'' He chuckled and shook his head as he looked at Jasper, ''no, way! You... saw her naked?'' He exclaimed.

''You are making noise, Nick. What kind of reaction is that?'' Jasper asked nonchalantly.

''Jasper, you saw her naked. She is a minor, what are you doing with a minor?''

''Let me make this clear. I didn't ask her to show me her body. She was the one who opened her window to look at me when she was wearing just her underwear and I happened to see her. That's all. Besides, she is stalking me''

''Stalking you? First you saw her in her underwear and now you are accusing her of stalking you. Jasper, I think you got the real end of the deal here. Also, I think today was a coincidence. She just said she was playing hide and seek with her friend.''

''Did you believe that? That girl is practically everywhere I go.''

''Maybe is a coincidence. Tell me, when was the first time you saw her?''

''A reporter took my pictures at the airport a month ago. When my security secured those photos, she was in them.''

''So, you two were on the same plane or maybe you arrived at the same time. But I don't think she planned all of that. She looks too cute and adorable to be a stalker.'' Nick said and chuckled.

''And now she is my neighbour and I can't stand that.''

''You can't stand a lot of things, Jasper. You can't even stand to be closer to any woman. Okay, let's check your body condition. Any reaction lately?''

''No.''

''That's a miracle. Could it be healing like that? This is the first time you haven't had rashes after standing in the same space with a woman. Wait! Could it be that you're not allergic to her? I told you, this is more psychological now. She was in the same space with you but nothing happened to you.''

''Nick, are you tired of your job? Should I get you transferred to a remote place?''

''No. I am very happy with my job here and I won't mention that girl again.''
