At the Ten Rings' headquarters, Wenwu was watching his most trusted subordinate, Death Dealer, rigorously training his son, Xu Shang-Chi. A burly man with a thick beard approached and whispered in Wenwu's ear, causing his eyes to narrow.
"Razor Fist, go to New York yourself and bring him back to the base," Wenwu ordered.
He didn't believe that the head of a pharmaceutical company could bring his wife back to life, but since the other party knew his name and his wife's name, and could easily subdue the top assassin he had sent, he figured it was worth investigating, just in case there was something to it.
Besides, the fact that this person had the audacity to let him choose the meeting place might mean there was something substantial behind his claims—perhaps some kind of advanced technology?
If the Li Group could produce the three-colored pills and cancer-curing drugs, then using some high-tech biological methods to resurrect the dead wasn't entirely out of the realm of possibility.
There was no harm in trying. If the man couldn't deliver on his promise, Wenwu could simply kill him, thereby completing the job requested by his employers.
As for the possibility that the man might use this as an excuse to meet him for a revenge attempt, that was also a very real and significant possibility. But Wenwu didn't care; he had absolute confidence in the power of the Ten Rings.
In a thousand years, he had never lost a fight, except once to his wife.
"Yes, boss!" Razor Fist acknowledged, raising the blade attached to his severed right arm before turning and leaving.
Shortly afterward, a helicopter took off from the base nestled within the mountains.
**The next morning, several cars pulled up at the entrance to Leo's residential area. Razor Fist, accompanied by a dozen of the Ten Rings' most elite operatives, exited the vehicles and headed straight into the neighborhood.**
Since the boss had said to "bring him back," not "invite him," efficiency was the priority. They planned to go into the neighborhood, extract the target, and use the helicopter to transport him back to the base. Anyone who got in their way would be taken down or killed on the spot—such was the style of the Ten Rings.
Seeing these imposing figures carrying weapons, the residents quickly moved aside, afraid of getting caught up in whatever was happening.
However, they hadn't gone far when a security guard, even bigger and burlier than Razor Fist, like a grizzly bear, blocked their path.
"Sorry, but you're not residents of this community. Please go to the entrance and register who you're here to see. Once a resident confirms your identity, you can enter," the guard said.
Razor Fist eyed the guard up and down, and without a word, he flicked his glowing red blade from his right arm and thrust it toward the guard's stomach.
Surprisingly, the guard didn't panic at all. Instead, with a hand bigger than his face, he grabbed Razor Fist's shoulder and twisted it hard. Using a combination of brute strength and expert technique, he disarmed Razor Fist in one swift move, ripping the heated blade arm clean off.
As Razor Fist tried to raise his left hand to deliver a blow to the guard's temple, he felt a sharp pain in his stomach, and the next thing he knew, he was sent flying several meters back, landing on the ground.
Seeing their leader down, the elite operatives of the Ten Rings drew their weapons from their belts, ready to attack the guard. But the guard calmly blew a whistle hanging from his chest.
At the sound of the whistle, over twenty more guards, each as massive as a bear, emerged from all directions, encircling the Ten Rings operatives.
Moments later, Razor Fist and all his men were lying on the ground, having been thoroughly defeated.
"Everyone, rest assured, with us here, no gang members like these will ever threaten the safety of our residents!"
Li San, seeing his men had taken down all the Ten Rings operatives, turned to the astonished residents and loudly reassured them.
His men lifted their shirts, revealing their bulging, well-defined muscles.
Applause erupted immediately. The residents were clearly impressed by the physique of the security guards, and their sense of security greatly increased.
What the residents didn't know was that this might be the safest neighborhood in all of New York. Each security guard had been injected with enhancement serum, making them only slightly less powerful than the famous Captain America.
These guards could take down any gang member, and even top agents from S.H.I.E.L.D. or HYDRA would struggle against them.
"Alright, I understand. I'll come over after breakfast."
Leo, who was having breakfast in his room, nodded after hearing Li San's report over the communicator.
He knew Wenwu would make a move, but he didn't expect it to be so soon. It seemed Wenwu's desire to bring his wife back to life was even stronger than Leo had imagined.
"What's going on, darling?"
Wanda looked at Leo with a hint of concern. The assassination attempt by a sniper two days ago was still fresh in her mind.
Leo smiled and reassured her, "Nothing, just some issues at work. I'll go handle it and might be back a bit later."
He didn't tell Wanda about the Ten Rings. While honesty is important in a relationship, sometimes a well-intentioned lie is necessary.
Telling Wanda about the Ten Rings would only cause her unnecessary worry and stress.
He preferred that Wanda's daily life remain carefree. Even learning and using magic should be for convenience and self-defense, not for worry.
After finishing his breakfast, Leo went straight to the neighborhood's interrogation room and saw Razor Fist and the other Ten Rings operatives bound tightly.
"Take me to see Xu Wenwu."
Once there, Leo ordered his men to untie Razor Fist and the others.
The Ten Rings operatives were somewhat baffled by this turn of events. They had indeed come to bring Leo back to their base, but this wasn't how they had planned it.
But since Leo was willing to let them go and even willing to go see their leader, that was all the better.
They cautiously walked out of the room, keeping a wary eye on the security guards, whose combat prowess was evident.
Leo followed them out and got into one of their cars.
As soon as they were in the car, Razor Fist made a call to Xu Wenwu to report what had happened. Everything seemed far too unusual to not be reported.
After hearing the situation, Wenwu still instructed Razor Fist to bring Leo back to the base, but to be more courteous in the process.
He understood that Leo himself was likely not an ordinary person. Otherwise, he wouldn't have come alone without his powerful subordinates, willingly going along with Razor Fist.
This also indicated that Leo might indeed have some knowledge or ability related to resurrecting Wenwu's wife.
Once in the car, Leo closed his eyes and rested, not wasting any time as he continued to ponder and study ninjutsu in his mind. Even when they switched to a helicopter mid-journey, he remained in contemplation.
He seemed entirely unconcerned about where he was being taken or whether the others posed any threat to him.
At least, that was the impression Razor Fist and his men got from Leo as he sat there with his eyes closed.
