Black Widow watched Jiang Chen closely. His entire demeanor had shifted, as if he was telling the world that he wasn't the same person anymore. But how could an ordinary man suddenly possess such incredible power? Could it really be just from daily exercise? Obviously not.
She thought back to recent news about a fire-breathing superhuman spotted in the heart of New York. Could Jiang Chen be that Superman?
But she had run tests on him while he slept—he was, by all accounts, a normal human being.
Black Widow frowned, finally speaking. "I think you've misunderstood us. We never intended to harm you."
Jiang Chen barely glanced at her before stepping off the ring. To him, whether they misunderstood him or not didn't matter anymore. Fear was no longer a part of his reality.
"Amazing! Dude!" a voice called out, snapping Jiang Chen out of his thoughts.
Turning around, he saw the foreign guy who had been knocked down by Black Widow earlier. The man approached him with a wide grin. "Man, those moves were something else! So cool!" he said, throwing a few mock punches in the air.
"My name's Nathan. What's yours?"
Jiang Chen frowned slightly but answered, "Jiang Chen."
Nathan's face lit up as he leaned in, full of excitement. "Are you busy right now? If not, how about grabbing a drink? I know just the place—with the best girls in town."
Jiang Chen hesitated. If it was just a drink between two men, he wasn't interested. But the mention of women piqued his curiosity. He nodded in agreement.
After changing out of their clothes, Nathan led Jiang Chen to a lively bar downtown. The moment they stepped inside, the thumping music enveloped them. Nathan pulled Jiang Chen to the bar, ordered two whiskeys, and leaned over to shout in his ear above the noise, "This place is packed with beautiful women! All you need is some game, and you're set!"
Jiang Chen scanned the crowd and had to admit, Nathan wasn't wrong. The place was full of women, most of them looking like they were having a good time.
"Let me ask you something—are you any good at picking up girls?" Nathan asked with a mischievous grin. Jiang Chen raised an eyebrow but didn't have time to respond before Nathan said, "Watch me."
Without another word, Nathan disappeared into the crowd, leaving Jiang Chen alone at the bar.
"Sir, your whiskey," the bartender interrupted, handing Jiang Chen his drink. He took a sip, only to feel someone bump into him.
Turning, he found a woman had taken Nathan's seat. The bar's dim lighting and her disheveled hair made it hard to see her face, but her silhouette suggested she was attractive.
She slumped against the bar, raising a finger and slurring, "One more drink..."
It was clear she'd had a lot to drink.
Jiang Chen glanced at her but didn't respond.
Just then, Nathan returned with a girl in tow, clearly pleased with himself. He was about to boast to Jiang Chen when he noticed the woman sitting in his spot. Nathan leaned in, whispering, "Whoa, man! That was fast. I just got back, and you've already got someone drunk?"
Jiang Chen shook his head. "I didn't do anything. She was already like this."
Nathan leaned closer to the woman, inspecting her. His eyes widened as he turned back to Jiang Chen, giving him an enthusiastic thumbs-up. "Dude, this one's a real catch! Top tier!"
Before Jiang Chen could reply, the woman suddenly sat up, locking eyes with him. In the next instant, she threw her arms around him, pulling her face close to his.
"Let's go..." she mumbled.
Jiang Chen frowned. "Go? Where do you want to go?"
"You know..." she slurred, her voice thick with intoxication.
Jiang Chen's frown deepened, unsure of what she meant. But one thing was certain—the night was about to get more complicated.
