Third person POV
And so, by noon, the battle was over, and the Southern Plains had won, partially thanks to Russell's efforts in steamrolling Batela's army. Aren was shocked that he had lost the battle. The number of his remaining men was now 18. The western, mountainous part of town was littered with dead bodies of soldiers from both sides. Weapons, shields, and other equipment for war and fighting were littered alongside the dead corpses. Dead horses are also present in the area of death. Russell got off and looked at him with a positive, non-prideful, and confident smile on his face. Aren was angry at him for killing his soldiers so brutally and leading his country to victory against them.
"You and your country win this time, kid," he said to him with a promise of a future retribution, "but next time, you won't."
The crowned prince of Batela then disappeared from the scene with his remaining army using his Primary Novel ability, Crows.
His leaving and retreating with his remaining men was completed with crows' feathers falling to the ground.
The way Aren left the scene puzzled Russell a lot. "Wha…?"
And then, as the army of the Southern Plains celebrated their victory with the townspeople of Halestone Town, Azalea and Adrian ran to Russell and said to them that they had won the battle.
"Yes, we did, guys," Russell said to them back while looking at them with positivity.
The young bus driver then looked at the spot where Aren and his country's soldiers had disappeared and said, "I wonder what ability that guy had…"
After that, Nicholas called Russell to come to the town plaza and make a short speech in front of everyone. Russell did so, and Adrian and Azalea followed soon after. There Russell stood in front of the crowd and made his speech:
"Our brethren, we had won this fight, thanks to our cooperation and unity in the face of opposition and invasion by our enemy, Batela. Thank you all for helping us. I also thank myself for coming into this world as a Renad who was a bus driver in this world. I am happy to live in this world, and that, alongside my abilities and values of determination and true justice for all, had led to our victory against Batela. Thank you all."
Russell then bowed his head deeply and quickly, before exiting the spot.
Everyone applauded his speech, and Nicholas stepped in to deliver his message of assurance for future peace and future preparations just in case Batela would retaliate again.
As Russell went to his bus, Nathan and the others came to him and said to him how he and they had worked together to win this battle against Batela. "Yeah, we were a pretty good team, you know," Russell replied back while climbing into his bus.
"Man, I was so brutal with my summoned wolves." Nathan chuckled with his Spanish accent.
John then nodded with Nathan's summoned wolves.
"Yeah, you too, as well, El Caballero Nathan," Russell replied back with a wink.
"Nice title, El caballero Russell," Nathan replied back while embracing his new nickname from Russell.
Russell then liked his new nickname from his fellow Renad.
Rai and Ria, in their human form, came in and hugged and snuggled Russell in happiness because of their victory in the battle. "We won, Russell-kun!"
Russell was overwhelmed, and Azalea was mad at Rai and Ria for taking Russell from her.
Kelly, in her human form, came and congratulated Russell and the others for their cooperation during the battle.
"Yes, thank you, Kelly," Nathan responded back partially on Russell's behalf.
After all that, all of them cooperated to clean up the mess in town.
Meanwhile, in his palace in Queva City, Batela, Aren was in more emotional turmoil because of his humiliating defeat against the Southern Plains. Now he wanted vengeance against Russell directly. His wheelchair-bound father Arius tried to calm his temper down, but Aren angrily told him to get out of his room. Arius and some of Aren's officials and advisors did so and closed the door. With that, Aren began to think about how to do his next and future retribution against Russell.
At the same time, news of the Southern Plains' victory at Halestone Town and Russell's contribution to it had spread across the country and its neighbors but Batela. Many within the Southern Plains were amazed and couldn't believe their eyes and ears. And so, many began to call Russell May the Bus Driver Hero. That nickname was also used in the latest issue of a newspaper in Rossley. That newspaper firm was owned by someone named James Kuehne, who was a Renad, too.
Also, at the same time, Ester was impressed that Russell had did his part in the battle against Batela. "Good job out there, Russell," he said while looking at Russell via a magical screen, "I am proud of you."
