“That’s wonderful news, son.” A broad grin spread across Mohter’s face. “So, tell me about her. What’s her name?”

I laughed. “I don’t know, but you’re going to love her. She’s just a bit... overwhelmed now.”

Mother nodded, arching an eyebrow. “Logan, you don’t know her name yet?”

I shook my head, smiling. “It’s a long story, but I’ll find it out tonight.”

“Good, because your father will need to know it at the wedding!” She laughed at her own joke. “So, have you given her an engagement ring yet?”

I shook my head, smiling. “No, not yet. Everything happened so fast that I haven’t had time to get her one. But I plan to take her to the jewelers tomorrow so she can choose anything she’d like.”

Mother rose to her feet, holding up her finger. “I’ll be right back.”

I refilled both of our glasses by hand while she was in the other room. Mother may have magic, but that’s one thing I don’t possess, other than shifting. I guess that was a form of magic all its own.
