Catch Fish

Once we have finished with our dinner, I made my way to the living room while Grandpa's still chatting with Jami in the dining room. There, Hans was already playing with Hani with my old toys. I was amazed that Hans still kept my old toys. Watching her playing with them made me reminiscing about my childhood.

When I was four, I was playing with Grandpa here in this very living room, surrounded with this very toys and when one of Grandpa's man came over to inform him something. He hesitated when he saw the four year old me on Grandpa's lap. Sensing that the news from his men is grave, he called Hans to bring me away. After a few hours of playing, Grandpa brought me to a hospital where there were all my uncles and aunties were crying outside of the ward. Upon entering the room, there I saw two beds where my parents were lying. Breathless. The toddler me, who have yet to understand death at that time asked Grandpa why were my parents sleeping there and holding their breath. To that, my Grandpa cried and hugged me and said that they were not sleeping but their soul has been taken away by angels.

Few years after that, I have understood that my parents has passed away due to car accidents. Had my Grandpa never insisted to at least leave me here with him, I might have joined my parents tragedy as well during their much anticipated road trip. It's not that my Grandpa knew that this would happen to his eldest daughter, but he certainly blamed himself for not stopping them too.

Anyways, since my parents died in a car crash during their road trip, Grandpa took charge of being my guardian. He often spent most of his free time taking care of me but when he had business to attend to, there's always sweet teddy, Hans. Hans usually inflict fear on men but when it comes to children he's, well, adorable. I was never scared of him when I was a child nor did my cousins and it seems his charms still haven't fade with Hani.

Speaking of which, the more I look at Hani, the more I feel angry towards Mia. But I know, she is trying her best and I should trust that she will resolve her problems. I trust her indeed but I don't trust the man she calls Hani's father. Is he serious at all about them? All he has to do is marry Mia and bring Hani back home with them. I mean, what better solution is there? Which is why I had to ask Grandpa's help to find out about him. I need to know what kind of guy he actually is and if he really is horrible as I suspect he is, I would have to knock some sense into Mia.

As I was contemplating about Hani and Mia's condition, suddenly out of blue, Grandpa asked, "I wish I could have great grandchildren."

"Yeah..." I agreed. After a moment of pause and making sense of Grandpa's words, "Wait. What?! That was out of nowhere Grandpa."

"It's not out of nowhere. You are already, what, 30 years old? You still have yet to get at least a boyfriend." he explained. But how could he get my age wrong? He's getting too old.

"Grandpa, I'm only 27 and what's wrong with being single at this age? Besides I want to focus on my career."

"Oh, young lady, three years will pass by in a flash. By the time you know it, I won't longer be around and if you keep up with your focus on your career, you might even die alone."

"Grandpa, why are you talking like that? If I marry someone who would take care of you?"

"Don't you worry about me, little wolf. Your Grandpa's still healthy and strong. Besides, with my men around, I'll be good."

"Haaah..." I sighed. "Grandpa, just earlier you panicked when you misunderstood me when you saw Hani. Now you're telling me you want great grandchildren?"

That caught Grandpa off guard. He cleared his throat and said, "That was... I thought you did the same mistake Mia did. But I know my sweet grandchild would never do something like that. Anyways, I don't think you'd find anyone out of your own effort. So, I will catch a fish for you."

At this point, I am already tired of discouraging him. There's no changing his mind once he is determined. I resigned to his will to find his grand son-in-law.

"Yeah, do whatever you want Grandpa. But whoever it is that you look for, the final decision must come from me since I'm the one who is going to live with that guy for a lifetime."

Pleased, Grandpa patted my head, saying, "Deal. Why don't the three of you stay here overnight?"

"Nah, I'll have to go home. I have to be at work early tomorrow."

"Work? On Sunday? Don't you think you're pushing yourself a little too much?" Grandpa asked, concerned of my well being.

"Yeah, I wish I could get more rest myself, but I really have to go since the Autumn Pageant is approaching and now that we've decided for the design, we have to start to actually create the pieces."

"Alright then, I'll call you once I caught your fish." he said, beaming.

"No, Grandpa, before you go fishing, I need you to find out about Hani's father. I am worried for Mia" I explained hoping he won't stray for my second main reason to visit him.

"Don't worry, one of my men are already on it. I'll let you know immediately when I get the news. Probably tomorrow morning, even."

"That's great! Tonight I can sleep well. Actually, I am getting sleepy. I think I am going to make a move now." I said stretching while yawning.

"Hahaha. Look at you, getting sleepy after your meal, like a baby. You should go home and sleep early and I think you'll sleep well since the child has been very active playing with Hans."

"You're right. That's great. Okay then. Bye Grandpa." I said kissing Grandpa on the cheek. Jami carried Hani who was already in Hans arm and we went to the car. We buckled up Hani and I let Jami drive us home.
