Chapter 2

Within the boundless mountains, the sky was completely dark and quite. The moon was hidden by the clouds. Fierce beasts lurked and roamed around the mountains.

Thick mist were surrounding the mountain peaks.

Me and Bai Xiaoxiao were flying slowly side-by-side.

We were enjoying the pleasant scenery.

I was laughing while Bai Xiaoxiao curled her lips into a smile. Her fairy like appearances was extremely beautiful. If people saw us, they might think we were a match made by the heaven.

"The air was refreshing even though the spiritual power were thin. What a peaceful place"

I said.

"You're right, brother Xianyu. There were much more beautiful scenery in the Immortal World, but we never felt so peaceful"

Bai Xiaoxiao replied.

"Should we use this place as our base?"

She asked while blinking her eyes.

I frowned and fell into a deep thought.

"This place is nice, but not enough. It still a bit lacking of mysterious air that I had in mind"

I shook my head.

"Can't we just modify it?"

"We can. But, you know. It just doesn't feel right for me"

"Brother Xianyu, can you tell me what do you have in mind?"

Bai Xiaoxiao asked curiously.

"A flying island above the misty mountains hidden by the clouds or a flying island above a lake that only shows itself at foggy weather or snowy day"

"That sounds nice. Should we check the forbidden zones in this world?"

"Sounds great!"

I quitely spreads out my divine sense as soon as I agreed.

After a while, I found 6 restricted places with faint trace of immortal aura. I found some other place with rich spiritual power as well, but there were sects on those place.

"Found it"

I muttered.

"Let's go, Xiaoxiao"

I directly tore the space and stepped inside. The next moment, both of us came out at one of the restricted place.

"There is a faint trace of immortal aura in here"

Bai Xiaoxiao said.

"Yes. There should be people ascending in here at least thirty thousand years ago"

I nodded.

The place we arrived was a valley with deep gorge. There were quite a lot of 7th-ranked beasts with cultivation level so no sects dares to use this place as their base.

For the people of this world, they might be ferocious beast. But for both of us, they were just cute animals compared to the beasts that is living in the forest back in Immortal World.

However, just as I was about to step into the center. I felt some fluctuations in the surrounding.

I opened my divine eyes and saw there was a concealed formation hidden in the sky.

"Interesting"

I murmured.

"What's wrong?"

Bai Xiaoxiao asked.

"There is a formation that restrict entry to the center"

Hearing what I said, Bai Xiaoxiao opened her divine eyes as well.

She opened her eyes wide in shock.

"How is this possible? Why is there an active immortal formation in here?"

She fell into doubt.

"Seems like this place has an owner. Should we give our greetings? or just left and find some other places"

Hearing my questions, Bai Xiaoxiao contemplated for a while.

"Let's greet the owner. We might become acquaintance if we were to stay in this world"

"Alright"

I nodded.

I spreads my divine sense inside to send a message that we were visitors.

Soon, an island on the shape of a turtle were seen surrounded by mists above the gorge.

"Let's go"

The two of us entered.

The island was quite small. There were only a lake surrounded by forests. On the center of the lake, there was a handsome man with a dull look were currently fishing.

"Greetings, senior"

Me and Bai Xiaoxiao cuped our hands.

The moment both of us saw him, I knew that the man was an Immortal King.

"Did my father send you to bring me back?"

The man let out a sigh and asked suddenly. His expression was gloomy. It was as if he had already given up on life.

The two of us were confused.

"Excuse me, senior. No one send us here. My name is Gu Xianyu and this is my companion, Bai Xiaoxiao. We ran away from the Immortal World and came here"

I explained.

Normally, we have to be on guard with stranger, especially those who were stronger than us. But, the atmosphere surrounding this man was quite weird. It was the air of a loser. This makes me and Bai Xiaoxiao lowered our guard.

"What!? You ran away too!? Thank god! I thought you were the people my father sent to bring me back"

The man laughed loudly as if he was released from a certain burden.

"Senior, what do you mean by we ran away too?"

Bai Xiaoxiao asked curiously.

"Cough. Well, I ran away from the Immortal World as well"

The man said.

"You too, senior?"

"Yeah. I got sick of the Immortal World. As the former young master of the Black Tortoise clan, I have to be on the edge all the time. It's truly a tiring life. I came here fifty thousand years ago. Over the years, there were also some people who ran away and came here. However, they were found out by their families and dragged back"

The man explained.

Hearing what the man said, we were dumbfounded.

"Wait, we're not the only people who ran away from that cursed place?"

I asked.

"Indeed. Ever since I came here I at least met more than 10 people. I'm the only one left now though, since the last person was dragged back seven thousand years ago. Poor guy was dragged back while being naked"

The man said with amusing smile on his face.

"I was worried when you spread your divine sense and even came here. I thought you two were sent to drag me back. I'm relieved now knowing you two were also exiles"

He continued.

Damn it! So I'm not the only one who came up with the brilliant idea of coming to newbie maps to escape!?

My plan of being the hidden overlord of the newbie maps is ruined!

I fell into despair as my grand ambition shattered into pieces.

No! I can't give up yet!

"By the way, why are you two running away? Eloping?"

Tha man asked curiously.

"We joined the Immortal Seed wars at a young age and got sick of all the wars and endless competitions. Both our parents were the 7th and 8th place of the Immortal Rank which makes it even worse for us"

Bai Xiaoxiao explained.

"That must be painful experiences. I also joined the Immortal Seed wars. My friends are all dead leaving me as the only survivor. And even after I quitted, some people were still after me. In the end, I decided to run away from the Immortal World after I found the World Concealing Stone by chance"

The man sighed.

"Senior, what have you been doing for the last fifty thousand years here?"

I asked.

"Fishing, sleeping and lazying around"

The man said.

It seems like this senior is not a threat to my ambition.

"Do you have any plans for the future, senior?"

"No. Living leisurely for as long as I could is my wish. Also, calling me as senior is too stiff. We're both fellows exiles here so just call me Old Liu"

"Understood"

I nodded.

"Do you two have any plans in mind?"

Old Liu asked.

I hesitated for a bit, but finally decided to tell him about our plan.

"We were planning to make a hidden sect and have fun as a secret overlord. We can't become the ultimate boss in Immortal World, but that doesn't mean we are a forever loser. We will build our power slowly and steadily and who knows we might have a comeback once we have enough strength to sweep the Immortal World. Even if we never have the strength to comeback, at least we could still have fun being an overlord here"

I explained.

The moment Old Liu heard my words, his dull eyes shines for a bit. It was as if life has been brought back into his lifeless eyes.

"Hahahaha! That sounds interesting! Why didn't I think about that earlier!?"

Old Liu laughed loudly. His laughter was like a thunderous roars. The entire place was shaking and the spiritual energy were rioting. This secret realm was formed by his Immortal King power, and yet such slight disturbance happened because of his mood changed.

He only stopped after a while.

"You two, do you mind if I join you? I will be your sect guardian. In exchange, if a day where you sweep the Immortal World ever comes, you will prepare the best seat for me to watch the scenery"

Old Liu said with serious look. I could sense the hidden unwillingness on his eyes. The same eyes that I also had when I first tasted my despair.

"If you're fine with waiting for a day that might never come. Then, okay"

I answered.

"Kuhahaha, great! I've been escaping that cursed place for fifty thousand years, so I have the patience to even wait for an eternity"

It was different from what I initially thought and planned. We still don't have a name for our sect and haven't even decide where we build our sect, but we got an Immortal King as our guardian sect out of nowhere.
